This was a pretty good book overall. It was short and very informative. It talked about the history and geography and people of Malta in a way that was like a friend telling about a trip instead of a non-fiction book. I really liked reading it and only wished the pictures were in color!!

jessinikkip Thank you @vanchocstrawberry the funeral went well. It was different from what I'm used to for a memorial but that was what her uncle had requested. He liked the pastor's preaching style, so he asked him to PREACH. And everyone made it. The only problems were minor ones, and we are both doing pretty okay. 5h

This first week of the #BookFitnessChallenge was okay. I found myself opting for a mental workout more often than not, but with the funeral for my wife's uncle this weekend, it was rather understandable for this week to be easier. I did finish TWO books! Next week I'll drink more water and choose physical activities more.

@wanderinglynn

BookwormAHN Way to get through the hard times, hugs to both of you 👏🏻 3d
Emilymdxn Well done! Health is about so much more than physical workouts, and it sounds like you‘ve got through a tough time really well. Sending love to you and your wife 💖 3d
VanChocStrawberry Sounds like a mental health is what you needed to work on this week, so I think you did a great job! 3d

Posting this under a previous book since there isn't an option to select the final book in this series. But honestly, I'd rate the entire series with a PICK. It's a great supernatural story based around the premise of the show The Bachelorette. One human woman, 25 supernatural guys, numerous attempts on her life...Can she find THE ONE?

Today I only made it to about 15 minutes of concentrated activity, however, I did spend some time setting up some spreads in my bullet journal early for next month, implementing some changes that didn't work this month. Just starting this month, so I'm learning. I split my 30 minutes today between exercise and relaxing, both healthy, just different.

This book was pretty darn awful. Every other paragraph had the word “Lucent“. It uses incorrect information like how you read Hebrew left to right. It was a lot of “the beautiful blond tall boy“ and “the transparent pale girl“ instead of their names. It was too rushed and could have benefitted from being a book and a sequel. But at least it's over!

HELLO!! I have a question for those of you out there who, like me, are running a book blog. I'm trying to build mine up and make mine better, but I'm not sure how. I'm using WordPress since it offers the option of posting for free, I've been using this one since February of last year and so I'm not sure I'd want to move, but are there any tips to get it customized to look better?

https://infinitepagesbookreviews.wordpress.com/

LibrarianRyan Add some graphics. Like pictures of the books. Also currently it‘s it‘s just one long scroll. It would be nice if you limited the main page to 5-7 reviews. Then added pages, or guides to find older reviews. Some organize by date, but you could organize by genera. And add the search feature. (edited) 2w
jessinikkip Thanks @LibrarianRyan I have graphics on the posts themselves but I dont know how to make them show on the preview or how to limit how many show on page one 😕 I will do some digging into the customize menu when on the computer 2w
LibrarianJen I could show you (I used to maintain a wordpress site for a thesaurus company) but I don‘t think I can walk you through it via chat. Let me do some digging and see if I can find a good how-to reference. 1w
See All 7 Comments
jessinikkip Thanks @LibrarianJen ! A good how-to on how to do some things would be great! 1w
LibrarianJen Do you have an email address I can send some links to? I can compile some resources tomorrow while I watch the seniors take their finals. 1w
jessinikkip Absolutely @LibrarianJen I can be reached at jpresgraves@ferrum.edu

I'll play around a bit in the “Customize“ menu tonight, but some directed help and resources would be great. Thank you so much for the help!
(edited) 1w

Today is the last day to sign up for the #BookFitnessChallenge with WanderingLynn

I have decided that my goal will be 30 minutes a day of something healthy. This would cover walking, jogging, swimming, stretching and even things like meditating and yoga. Anything that gets me in a better place both physically and mentally. I also plan 5 books for this challenge, because that is a good average me to aim for.

I used my free Audible trial to get this book to listen and read at the same time since I had the book on my Kindle. If I have to hear the word LUCENT one more time... Or phrases like “His lucent cheek twitched...or was it a leaf behind him moving in the wind?“ I will probably scream...

Okay, I am trying to do the OWL readathon this month and one of the prompts is simply "retelling". Can someone recommend a good book to fit this that wouldnt break my budget? A lot have been so expensive ?

TheReadingMermaid Oh sweetie you are awesome! I love your heart 💕💕💕 let me see what I can find you. I know there are a bunch! And I just found a new series of retellings that looks really awesome... 2mo

RainyDayReading I‘m going either with Cinder by Marissa Meyer or Beauty by Robin McKinley for mine. There‘s a ton of retellings in YA. You could always search retellings on goodreads and see if anything catches your attention on there, since for some reason I‘m blanking on every retelling I‘ve ever read 😅 As far as cost goes you might find some older retellings on ThriftBooks and they‘re usually inexpensive if you‘re looking to buy. 2mo
TheReadingMermaid This series is also very popular, here are some of the less expensive ones but I suggest you buy them used. Many of these are available on Book Outlet! 😃 ⬇️⬇️⬇️ 2mo
jessinikkip Cool! Thanks 😊 a RL friend recommended a couple but even the Kindle editions were like $15-20... I try to keep money on amazon for books but I thought Id get more than one haha 2mo
RvnclawWhovian I got Lost Boy on Amazon for $10! Half price books is also a good option. Their standard shipping lead time is 5-15 business days but if you ordered it today, you‘d get it before the end of the month. 2mo
jessinikkip Oooh so many discount book sites out there I didnt know about! 2mo
jessinikkip @TheReadingMermaid those twisted tales sound Amazing! 2mo
TheReadingMermaid Jesse, yes also do try Half Price books, Book Outlet and Thriftbooks for these!!! You can also buy them used from Amazon for pretty cheap. 2mo
TheReadingMermaid The last book that I would suggest is Wicked by Gregory Maguire. DO NOT BUY THIS FROM AMAZON! Check out the websites that I have suggested. I have never paid more than $10 for a copy of this book. 2mo
UwannaPublishme I really liked Cinder, a YA retelling by Marissa Meyer. Cinderella is a cyborg. 😁You may want to check the Library or Libby. I‘m sure they‘ll have a copy. 2mo

The plot in this follow up to Brick was a little more simplistic and you never really get that same feeling of "will they live?". But the characters made up for this. Amandas dad is mayor and blackmails her into breaking up with Kane 13 years ago. Now in his dads MC he is involved in guns and drugs and crime. Is it too late to get back together?

Obviously, Im behind on reviewing books Ive read. This was a good blend of crime and romance. Brick works as an enforcer for a local drug lord/loan shark and has done some bad things, but does that make him a bad guy? Liv thinks not. Working as a teacher she tries to save a brilliant student and ends up pulled in Bricks world. I liked seeing the toughness of Liv against the soft side of Brick.

I thought this was a very good retelling of Beauty and the Beast from the perspective if the Beast. He is scared of becoming his abusive father so his heart hardens and freezes. A fairy curses him into a beast. The cure? True love. I really thought it was the little details that brought this book to life - his pride when he learns to wash his face or hold a book without destroying it... It was a good #NetGalley pick

You know that feeling when you agree to read and review a book and then the first page needs this many corrections? I dont know if I will survive. Book is titled "Some Entertainment and Some Wisdom" by Shaik Rafi, and is their first book in English. It clearly has not seen a single editor.

I wont say too awful much to give away this book before I pass it on but OMG I loved it! I thought it was excellent the way it weaves in the murder with just regular days for Kya, and I really felt I could connect with her
