🎧 recommendation

Chapters consist of ….

2 timelines 1978 & 2019.

Multiple POV.

A kids guide to monster hunting.

Excerpts from a journalist‘s expose.

Chapter Titles are clearly defined.

4 MCs - A doctor/scientist/gramma, two preteen girls & a little boy.

Fun!! Thriller!! Twisty. Read the summary or go in cold! Great cover!

🎧 The publisher‘s summary of this book was so intriguing. I thought it was going to become an instant favorite.

Nope

Boring. The characters are forgettable.

It was interesting. Technically advanced near future amps up what we have with today‘s social media addiction. I enjoyed the humor. There were multiple stories & multiple narrators. Complicated. Maybe it‘s too on the nose. The last 10% improved.

I couldn‘t wait for it to end.

🎧 it‘s 1944, Meiko & Aiko are evacuated from Idaho to an internment camp in the Midwest. Meiko‘s husband is a pilot in the US military.

Fran‘s a reporter who wants to break a big story that she‘s a part of but no one wants to talk about. People are getting cold-like symptoms, becoming combative & then die.

Will the 3 of them make it back to Idaho & find out what‘s going on?

Not a fan of spider-filled balloons but enjoyed this.

Why did I love this. 🤨

It‘s an easy flintlock fantasy read.

There are 3 MCs and most chapters flip back and forth between Marcus & Winter‘s POV.

Winter has runaway from the orphan girls prison and is currently hiding out & masquerading as a young man in the military. She just wants to go unnoticed but gets field promotions that put her in the spotlight.

It‘s well written and the characters are likable.

🎧 I loved this book. The narrator is fantastic. He voices the MC Dez perfectly.

Dez is my new favorite self proclaimed Jack-of-all-trades. He‘s retired from mercenary life to Southern California at the top of his game & is staying at a posh hotel occasionally playing with the house band.

Dez is a bit cocky but it‘s well-earned as he‘s seen & done it all. An unlikely hero.

Humor, action, mystery, thriller, with a great ending.

🎧 Archer series, bk 2.

Post WWII gumshoe period piece. White knight Aloysius Archer wants to be a PI. While in Reno he picks up a wild down on her luck wannabe actress & a fancy French car & heads for Southern CA for a job interview.

True to the time so beware of TW.

There‘s sexual tension between our 2 MCs. Archer & Liberty are made for each other but that white knight thing!

An enjoyable addition to the series & good narration.

I read 18 books in April.

This was the worst reading slump month I‘ve had in years.

Here are nine 4.5 - 5 star reads.

Three were ARCs, two were Libby loans and four were from my personal stash. (My goal is to read more of my own books)

April was a mixed bag of fun! I could easily recommend all of these books to someone.

🎧 This is a companion book to Middlegame not a sequel, Dodger doesn‘t even show up until the halfway mark.

This is a story of winter & summer not math & language.

Melanie & Harry have been in love since they were 6. Melanie was born with a heart defect. The night of their high school prom they are on the run and then on the hunt.

Multiple duos are also chosen for the hunt. If Melanie isn‘t chosen as the Winter Queen she‘s dead.

🎧 I loved the book. Really well defined characters. The horrors of a war fought with muskets & the king‘s warlocks & an odd neutral indigenous species of hairy little humanoids that each side leaves alone.

What makes me happy is that it‘s not all about the lies.

Strong female character. Great narration. Interesting story from beginning to end. The fight scenes are compelling. There are also some strong supporting characters.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 👇🏻

Twainy Will Emily choose the handsome warlock or the dubious self-serving governor that caused her father‘s death or remain single?

Roger & Dodger met at camp when they were 9. They have an unusual connection that keeps them returning to each other no matter how much time has passed through their 30‘s. One in Cambridge & one Stanford. There are multiple time jumps.

🎧 I enjoyed this take on Goblin Market. There‘s some pretty gruesome moments! The goblin market will lure you in, entice you with what you desire most when in reality it‘s hell on earth.

There are two stories told in dual time lines. Couple decades apart. Magic exists. MCs May Wicket & Lou, her niece. The Goblin Market is something their families attempt to shield them from.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 👇🏻

Twainy The story starts slow & picks up speed.

May falls for a goblin girl. It‘s a bit YA insta-love-y but it takes a turn towards towards the end.

Lou‘s youngest aunt‘s been kidnapped. She‘s compelled to investigate.
