Wow! This book is impactful. The execution of the dual storyline in different formats was flawless. Tough subject matter, not a candy ending. Highly recommended!

This book exceeded my expectations. The writing is engaging and compelling. And best of all, I loved how the author, Kara Cooney, draws parallels between these women rulers of Ancient Egypt and the way women continue to be viewed and treated in leadership roles today due to the ongoing patriarchy.
I can not recommend this book enough! #feminism #womeninpolitics #educateyourself

I love the cover more than the story. The main character fell flat for me and the pace tanked a third or the way into the story. I was close to not finishing but pushed through. The weird take on Norse mythology didn‘t work for me either. It is a great premise, but I struggled with the execution.

I bounced back and forth between my print copy and an audiobook. It was ok, but I found the lack of conjunctions to be irritating and the characters sounded stilted on the audio. Interesting enough to finish, though I am unlikely to continue with the series.

I forgot to mention that I finished listening to this a few weeks ago and it was bonkers and cheeky and fun. Tom Baker‘s narration was more of a performance than a narration. Some really fun turns of phrase and some delightful pure Dr. Who nostalgia moments.

I enjoyed the audiobook and bounced over to the print copy as well. Good story. From an editorial standpoint it bothered me how often the characters sucked their teeth, but really a minor thing. Great narration in the audio version.

I brought this book home from Owls Nest this week. I love a good book about grammar, punctuation, and style and the parts I sampled are a delight to read and some laugh-out-loud funny stuff, too. Grammar, punctuation, and style need not be boring.

I finished listening to this one a few days ago - it was excellent!! Loved the rags to riches concept that wasn‘t cliche, modern day debutantes, and the narrator breathed life into the story with her wonderful southern accent. I have ordered a print copy for my permanent collection because it was so delightful 💕

I bounced back and forth between print and audio for this one. While I have some criticism of the main character, overall I quite enjoyed the plot, the world building, and the writing. The main character came around enough by the end that I will definitely read book 2
