“Pink fur. Red scare.” I never expected a Snagglepuss comic to be an enlightened take on McCartheyism nor to tell such a touching story about friendship and being your authentic self regardless of the repercussions.

This book spoke to me like no other guide to leadership before. The message I took from it is that it is not enough to want to lead and attain a position of authority. It is necessary to understand your motivation and lead with intent. And it‘s okay to admit that you have those ambitions while you‘re at it. Beyond being incredibly motivating, Abrams gives real, practical advice.

Oh how I hated this #audiobook. If I hadn‘t wanted to scratch it off my 100 Essential Novels poster, there is no way I would have finished. Lots of derogatory language aimed at African natives and a story that I just didn‘t find compelling.

Entertaining but socially irresponsible. Women discover a new power within themselves and it is used initially by many to fight back against their oppressors. (Makes sense...I‘m with ya here, Naomi.) And, then within a few years of gaining this power, droves of women are using their new advantage to become serial rapists. (Huh??) My suggestion: read Mary Beard‘s “Women & Power” instead. It explains why stories of this nature are problematic.

It has taken me a week after reading Idaho to figure out how I feel about it and I'm still not entirely sure. The story had me hooked and then the ending left me disappointed. But I continue to have questions and the whole thing still lingers with me. So yeah I think I like it and the challenge it still presents. #tob2018

I made it through more than 100 pages but I just can't do it anymore. Reading a character declare that he is "destined for aleatoric hinter-wilds beyond where timbre chokes on the color of its own tone" is just too much for me.

I have to admit that I had never read any of Fredrik Backman's books because I've always thought the previous covers looked goofy. This #audiobook has opened my mind though. Backman manages to make hockey relatable (I've never watched a game personally) and bring a whole town to life. I've lived in a small town for most of my existence and Backman really nails that experience. Marin Ireland narrates and she is perfection.

callielafleur I had no idea this book contained hockey. I was looking forward to reading it anyway, but it's shot way up my TBR!! 🏒🏒🏒👏👏👏 2y

There was a big gap between my expectations of what this #comic was and what it actually turned out to be. I thought it would be the perfect entertainment for those who aren't into princesses or saccharine fairy tale stories. But instead this book felt like one big never ending opportunity to show a cute little girl being murderous and tearing out brains and various other organs.

RestlessFickleBookHoarder Ew. That doesn't sound entertaining to me. Thanks for the warning! 2y
