My first time participating in #NYWD22 and I‘ve got a great match! @NikkiM5 I actually “oooohed” out loud when I saw this list! A few I‘ve read (and loved), but the ones I haven‘t are PERFECT. Sasquatches, Morrison and King, dystopia, and more??? Yes, please!! The hardest part will be picking which to begin first! 😬 Great job with the matching @monalyisha !!
Look what came in the mail yesterday!!! I‘m very excited for this swap and I will have my package out in the mail soon! I‘m just waiting for a couple of deliveries. Yay, Winter!! ❄️🌞🌝
Well this spicy little nugget caught me quite off guard! I‘m not often a fan of cheesy romance (not cheesy after all; apologies for the assumption), but a friend begged me to read it and I stand mightily corrected!! Lots of academia and STEM talk, humor, and a slow burn hot enough to scorch the pages! A fast and furious read that was a great palate cleanser between some much heavier reads (looking at you, Addie Larue and Kite Runner!) 4/5 ⭐️
Set on the Isle of Lewis, this suspenseful novel follows a detective from Edinburgh as he returns to his childhood home in search of a possible serial killer. Once there, he discovers that the past has a way of digging its way back into his life and that all he remembers is not as it seems and that he may have been (see below)
Hi there, poetry peeps! I finally found the book of poetry that I‘d like to read. This actual book was given to me by a favorite professor friend several years ago. I had a heck of time finding it! Before I order a new copy for us all to write in, I just want to make sure none of you has already read it.
#LMPBC #Round013 #GroupU
Any Teacher Littens also reading this new book by Penny Kittle and Kelly Gallagher? I‘d love to commiserate!
I am so excited by the wonderful #AllHallowsReadSwap package from @Texreader !! Gourmet chocolate, socks, and some witchy reading?!?! Yes, please!!! Thank you so much!! And the card you made is adorable!! You are very creative. Thank you, again!!
Here‘s my last ditch effort to get a couple more people to sign up for Group U (poetry) for Round 13 of LMPBC. Check it out! No rules, just rhyme (or no rhyme, if you prefer)!
5/5 ⭐️ Gosh, I enjoyed the book! True, some parts were quiet, but just such a lovely read! I felt like I had joined Addie on her journey and Henry broke my heart. I suggest reading this bundled under a snug blanket on a quiet and cold evening with stars visible through a window. I was worried that there might be some cliche sections, but Schwab‘s writing was both lyrical and polished. Thoroughly enjoyed!
Hi Team! What are your thoughts on this novel? If you‘ve already read it, do let me know. I have other ideas, but this one has come highly recommended by a thriller aficionado friend.
I accidentally deleted my original post! Oops!!
Anyone interested in reading some poetry for #Round013 of #LMPBC ? If you are, check out @suvata ‘s page for her Signupgenius page and go to Group U. We need 2 more Littens!! I‘m not sure how much longer her sign up page will be open! Suellen is a hero for putting this all together! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I received my package for #AllHallowsReadSwap and I‘m so excited! 🎃👻🧛🏼♀️🧟♀️
I love my treats for #FallingForFallSwap !!!! Mary Oliver‘s work is just so lovely and I‘m eager to dive in!! I shall set myself up with a big cuppa, light some incense, and snuggle in…. just take a peek at that little hedgehog! So cute!
This book kept me entranced! I found that I‘d have to stop reading again and again just to absorb the action and horror of some scenes and the emotion and meaning of others. I liked the abrupt shift of POV between chapters and the subtle shifting within chapters. Excellent horror storytelling with heart and emotion, revenge and regret! I‘m looking forward to more from this author!! 4.5/5⭐️
#LittensDressedInBlood I‘m selecting this photo for today‘s prompt (Mrs. Peacock in the library) because, even those these aren‘t my shelves nor a library, it is my favorite photo of my daughter surrounded by books! This was taken a few years ago at the Book Barn in Niantic, Connecticut. We LOVE to read!!
I am away on vacation for a week or so, but I see that I have received bookmarks from @cwarnier and @JenaJenkins !! I‘ll be so excited to open them when I get home! Yay!
@JenaJenkins Have you received mine yet? I worry about the USPS losing items!
@LapReader I mailed yours last week too, but I suspect they will take a little longer to reach you! 😊🐨
This was a fun and fast read by one of my favorite authors, Victor LaValle. I think I would have liked to see the story more fleshed out, but, as a novella, I quite enjoyed the experience. I loved the HBO series, Lovecraft Country, and this novella felt the same. Overall, I‘ll give this a 4/5 ⭐️ because it was just what I was looking for: escapist, dark, fast, and fun! ☠️🐙🎸🔪
@ErinSueMreads Thank you so much for this book of poetry and the lovely journaling kit! I can‘t wait to take it on vacation next week! I‘ve never read Victoria Chang‘s work so I‘m doubly pleased to be introduced to a new poet. The fact that you remembered it so clearly from you college class makes extra eager to read her work. Thank you so much!!
Finished this in record time!! Fun read that allowed my brain to decompress after rereading Tolstoy for school. 🥵 I do love an unreliable narrator! Several layers of character development as I realize that no one is really reliable! Engaging inner dialogue that left me sympathizing with a very horny psychopath!😳 I haven‘t watched the TV series, but friends say it‘s good. I doubt there‘s as much masturbation in the televised version! 😂😂😂
Gothic mystery. Scotland. Antiestablishment. I wanted to love this novel more, but I found myself skipping to the end to see what would happen. Typically, this is my favorite genre and anything Scotland is always going to head to the top of my TBR pile. Unfortunately, this just missed the mark for me. I was annoyed by the main character and I found the conflict to be a bit unrealistic. I hate to trash a novel, but I can only give this 3/5 ⭐️
Love to collect bookmarks like I do? Head over to @cwarnier ‘s page to sign up!!! What a fun and easy swap!
Great story! I am an atheist, but don‘t really doubt that a man named Jesus, who preached love and was crucified during the the time of Herod Antipas, existed. The Romans were fastidious record keepers! I know some are appalled at Kidd‘s reimagination, but I find it appealing to think of Jesus as a real man, compelled to change his world for the better. It gives me more hope to think that if he could act this way, then maybe we all could! 4/5⭐️
I am so excited for this #PoetrySwap !! Thank you for hosting this swap; I‘m looking forward to reading more poetry!!
After a looong reading slump, I finished this psychological thriller in a matter of hours! It kept me up late and I had to get up early to finish it! A fun read, if a little predictable, that kept the pages turning! I‘m trying not to leave any spoilers, but it‘s made me wonder just exactly how much of a genius one would have to be to manage such mindplay!!! A good beginning to getting back into my reading groove! I‘ll give this 3.5⭐️/5⭐️
Hi All! I‘ve just sent everyone on my team a little token of my appreciation for your patience with me. I‘m very sorry, but I just can‘t keep up with this round‘s reading schedule. It‘s no one‘s fault but my own, so I‘m sending Lace and 10,000 Doors on unread by me. I have had a difficult year and even though reading is my escape and my passion, my responsibilities took up all of my personal reading time. I‘m deeply sorry to let my team down!!
I must apologize to my #LMPBC group! I‘m so behind! I‘m about 3/4 of the way through The Lace Reader and just received 10000 Doors in the mail. It‘s just end of school year craziness in the most chaotic year ever. I have seniors, so getting them in the path to graduation has been ALL consuming! School ends on June 8 and I will have both out to next on the list by then. Im so sorry!!
Has anyone here read Octunnumi? I can‘t find it in the search cache. I bought this simply because it was so striking and so intriguing. The aligned website is gorgeous and even the packaging was a treat. I haven‘t dared to read because I‘m afraid of marring its beauty!!
I just finished Riot Baby and I can‘t stop thinking about it. Onyebuchi‘s writing style reminds me of NK Jemisin‘s dystopian anger with a heaping helping of Spike Lee‘s lens on racial injustice. I finished wondering how a dystopian/fantasy novel could reflect reality so authentically! This novel is for my fantasy-themed #LMPBC and I hope that they like it. It took me a little bit to get into the shifting time frame, but once I did...🔥🔥🔥 4/5⭐️
Not book related, but I‘m just so excited!! Hope everyone can get their shots soon!!
O. M. G. @Heideschrampf My #Bestof2020Swap package arrived TODAY!! It flew from Germany to the US in just days but has languished in Postal Purgatory for the last 2.5 months!!! I absolutely LOVE everything and your very sweet note! That might be my favorite part!! I will be having tea while reading tonight!! Thank you for everything! Just so wonderful and a VERY welcome surprise on a boring March morning! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! 🌞💐😊📚
@Mitch Thank you so much for my#BlitsySwap package! I love everything and haven‘t read any of those books! I‘m wearing the T-shirt to school tomorrow and can‘t wait to show my treasures to my students, but the chocolate is unlikely to survive the night!! I love British milk chocolate! Nothing can compare!! #BlitsyHistoryMonth #BHMS
I‘m not 💯 sure how I feel about this novel. Yes, inappropriate relationships between a teen and his older lovers, a teen girl and her volleyball coach, violence, alcoholism, but none was gratuitous and, in fact, was the basis for their very messed up lives. Yet it was a love story at its heart, between an almost-out teen and his giant (6‘3”) neighbor in the throes of mean girl HS drama. Michael and Bunny will stay with me for long time! 4/5⭐️
@cwarnier Finally finished this novel! I don‘t know what took me so long! Just busy, I guess... Fun read! I enjoyed the dialogue and time period. I started the next book in our #LMPBC group, The Knockout Queen, yesterday and I can‘t put it down! I must be getting out of my book slump. Yay!! I‘ll be mailing that one out by the end of the week!
Hello #LMPBC #GroupI I‘ve been waiting for a batch of books I ordered and finally got my hands on the tagged book that I‘ve been oh-so-eager to read. I‘ve suggested it to several friends and it came highly recommended as a “Best of 2020.” At only 173 pages, I‘m leaning heavily this way as I‘ve just finished a couple of chunksters. However, if anyone has already read it, I‘ll certainly choose another. Thoughts?
Thank you so much for my #HappilyEverAfterSwap package!! I love everything and I can wait to read these books! I do have a copy of The Hazel Wood, but I also love to bring books into my classroom that I‘ve enjoyed! This is perfect!! Now I have one to reread at home and one to loan to students! Even though I‘m going out to dinner shortly, I‘ve already begun snacking on the Kisses! Yummy!!! Thank you so much!!! @Charityann
