What a monster of a book! Thoroughly enjoyed Gabriel‘s journey and the shifting narration. Some parts were a little contrived, but I was still very eager to crawl into bed every night to read another chapter or two! Vampires, Silversaints, and mysterious prophecies! What‘s not to love?!? Oh, and the illustrations were fantastic! I give it a solid 4.5/5 ⭐️ and I can‘t wait for the next in the series!! I‘m a fan!!

Any landscape painters out there? I read this recently as I move from portrait and flower painting to landscapes. Another focus of mine this summer will be my art and this smart book was very helpful to prepare me. I‘m a newbie, so I need all the help I can get! #LitsyCrafters

I enjoyed reading this sweet story. The characters were colorful and charming and I enjoyed the story. While not the most complex plot line, it was just what I needed after reading some heavy literature. Respite after some dark literature is just what I needed! Thank you for sharing with me, @BookBosomed1 I really am glad that I got to know Blue Bishop and her eclectic family! 3.5/5 ⭐️

Frankenstein | Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley
post image

My all-time favorite anti-hero (and I LOVE a morally conflicted protagonist) is the Creature in Mary Shelley‘s Frankenstein. This is one of my favorite novels to teach and the Creature is the most tragic of tragic heroes! His deeply flawed character is so complex and has so much to teach us….if only we‘d listen.

Hi @kspenmoll I hope all is well with you as we get closer to the end of the school year! I received your lovely note today. Thank you you so much! I think a CT meet up would be great! No one is too far away from each other in this state!

I was wondering if you had received my #PoetrySwap package? USPS reported it delivered on Saturday morning (4/8/22). I know we were both away last week, so I‘m worried porch pirates may have taken yours!

Well written and I highly recommend! I saw myself at various stages of my own life, as well as my mother and my grandmother, in Wolitzer‘s female protagonists in this collection of short stories. I liked that the central protagonist appeared in different stories at different points in her own growth. It made me consider my life as it has been shaped by my mother and her mother before her. I‘ll be thinking about this for some time to come!! 4.5/5⭐️

Megabooks Glad you loved it! I couldn‘t connect, but I‘m excited to read your thoughts when I get it back. 1mo

More Bizarro than Bizarro | Vincenzo Bilof

Is anyone else‘s Litsy app acting bizarrely? Since yesterday evening, it randomly closes and won‘t save comments. If I click on one post I made, all is well. If I click on a different post I made, I‘m automatically booted off Litsy. It‘s very hard to read comments shared on my posts or to continue adding to a post. What is up?

Prairiegirl_reading Yes the same for me. The app hasn‘t been updated for three years from the looks of it and I‘m assuming it‘s not playing well with new iPhone update. Just a guess, I‘m not techie. 3mo
rabbitprincess Mine was crashing earlier today as well, first time in a very long time it‘s acted up. @rockpools has emailed Litsy about it 😊 3mo
rockpools Mine‘s throwing me out if I scroll back in the main feed. I‘ve emailed them… @Prairiegirl_reading - oh yes, the iPhone update could be it. I remember something going screwy a few years back after an update. 3mo
See All 8 Comments
Twainy Mine will scroll a few times then exit the program. I haven‘t updated my iPhone. Is there a fix for this? Do I need to update the phone to 15-3-1? 3mo
Sweetkokoro Yup been having problems too. I‘m very certain it‘s because the app has been abandoned since it hasn‘t been updated in 3 years so it‘s becoming incompatible with newer phone updates. It‘s not our phones that are the issue it‘s literally the app and that it‘s becoming dead with lack of upkeep. 3mo
Readergrrl This makes me sad! I‘ve become very attached to Litsy, but I almost exclusively use the mobile app and not the desktop version. Hopefully the powers that be will address this?!?! 3mo
Clare-Dragonfly Ironically enough, it kept crashing earlier tonight as I scrolled down to this very post! Has anyone posted about this in the Onward Litsy Facebook group? They used to be pretty responsive there. 3mo
Readergrrl I checked out the Onward Litsy FB Group. It seems that LibraryThing has at least acknowledged that there is a problem. I will be heartbroken if this app is dissolved. 3mo

shadowspeak17 I‘d be happy to read any of these. The Paper Menagerie is the one I want to read the most, but I am a little unsure about it because of its length. Things We Lost in the Fire and Vampires in the Lemon Grove have both been on my TBR for a while, so they‘re also at the top for me. 3mo

I struggled a little to get into this novel, but soon I was hooked and flew through the last 2/3! It was interesting how some storylines engaged me more than others. Very reminiscent of Station Eleven (5/5⭐️)with evocative writing and shifting narrators, settings, and time periods woven together to create a multilayered tale. @Littlewolf1 Hi! I hope I‘m not spoiling the surprise, but just hoping that you received my #JolabokaflodSwap package. USPS says it arrived, but I worry about porch pirates!

Littlewolf1 My mail box is not in front of my house and I did not get to check it yesterday on my way home… I will check it today and let you know ASAP 5mo
Readergrrl Oh dear, USPS tracking said it was delivered on the 16th at 2:30pm. Please let me know if you didn‘t receive it!! Yikes! 5mo
Littlewolf1 @Readergrrl I got it… thank you so much 5mo
Readergrrl Thanks for checking, @Littlewolf1 !! I had some packages stolen last year and, ever since, I‘ve been anxious when sending/receiving items. Hope the season is treating you well! 🎅🏼🎄📚 5mo

@Soubhiville How funny! We were direct matches for the #WinterSolsticeSwap and I had no idea! I love my gifts so much. Thank youuu!!! The irony is that the BN spruce soap (which you now know I gave you too) almost stayed home with me. I loved the scent so much but begrudgingly mailed it off to you. Serendipitous!! I think I‘ll read the tagged book first, but they all look so good. And I love those Yule cards! Thank you so much!

Soubhiville Isn‘t that funny? I thought it was the same but wasn‘t 100% sure. I love the scent too, now both our bathrooms will smell festive! 🤣 I hope you‘ll love the books. Happy Solstice! 5mo
DebinHawaii I love that you got each other the same soap! Wonderful box! 💚🌲🤍 5mo
Chrissyreadit Now I‘m totally curious about the soap 😍! 🤍❄️🤍❄️🤍❄️ 5mo

Chrissyreadit Also I love the tarot cards- I‘m excited to see if there will be more for other Sabbats. The art is gorgeous, and the card meanings feel just right. 5mo

Hopefully, my #CreepyChristmas package is NOT being delivered by this guy!! The postal worker looked relatively benign at 3pm, but give it a few more days and I‘m sure we‘ll all look this!!

While I am looking forward to 2022, but I‘m also keeping my expectations realistic! Haha!!! But my #BestOf2021Swap package is in the mail, so one thing accomplished at least! Yay!!

ravenlee Seriously! I was filling out medical paperwork today and got to a point writing dates when I was not convinced I had the year right…can it be over yet? 5mo

❄️This year, as long as the border remains open, we‘ll be traveling to Canada to be with family. Last year was the first year in my over half-century life that I didn‘t get to Canada for Christmas,so I‘m extra excited this year!!
❄️Gaiman, Miéville, Bardo?!?! I honestly can‘t keep it to 3!
❄️A Mask of Crushing Work-Load Anxiety and Coffee (I‘m a teacher, so just the status quo this time of year! ???)

I‘ll tag my #Round13 #LMPBC partners!!
