This was a fantastic read. I remembered hearing about secret agents eavesdropping on seance's and thought that was interesting. The book isn't a factual historical read, but it's a similar situation. I've attached an article about it, (no spoilers in it).

Action-packed, triumphant, engaging, fascinating.

Fireborne‘s a novel destined to become a classic, the plot centers around two characters. The revolution involved dragons that belonged to a specialized few, after the revolution that changed. The dragon rider‘s became based upon a merit-based system for all people, that must be proven from tournaments. The two main characters Lee, and Annie are dragon riders, with one of their identities hidden.

Supernova Era | Cixin Liu
post image
Pickpick

The novel's story is written from a historian perspective, detailing what happened within the three years of the Supernova Era. The perspective from children during this time I felt was fascinating. Their main challenge was overcoming inertia, and wanting to have fun instead of working. I found myself wondering what I would do at that age. The Epoch Clock left me sitting in silence. The ending was a surprise for me, not what I was expecting.

Historical, educational, riveting, thought-provoking.

The writing style flowed effortlessly, pulling me into the story with the descriptive realistic characters. The story primarily stems from the characters Daniel, and Ana, they have a sweet memorable romantic attachment. The other subplots pertain to bull fighting, and a religious adoption service. The plot weaves between the characters relationships with relevant historical details.

Creepy, fascinating, haunting, page-turner.

Unique and creative storytelling which is difficult to do with horror genre. The television show script developed within the plot was surprisingly enthralling. The novel has the perfect mixture of horror, details, and emotional connection between the characters. Through the story I was left guessing who and what might be real, a ghost, or just plum crazy. It all comes together in the stunning ending.

Pickpick

Realistic, Competitive, Romantic, Funny

The story is accurate with respect to the current day challenges with woman working in a man's world. The topic was handled perfectly, and the story easy to read, kept my attention while feeling this really happened.

I loved Cassie Handwell, every decision she made I could relate to, she deals with discrimination, harassment, family issues, and job stress with poise and at times a sense of humor.

Darlington | Tripsy South
Pickpick

Addictive, engaging, intense.

Darlington was a super fun read. The story's told from his point of view, which is addictive. Loved the witty and creative thought processes of Tommy. When he gets in the mood to murder someone, there's no qualms about taking that action. I would've liked more gory details, and a few more killings but overall the story was entertaining. There's drugs, murders, some violence, great descriptions, and criminals abound.

Drive: A NASCAR novel | Susan Strecker
Panpan

Predictable, easy-to-read, elusive, heartbreaking.

Drive was an interesting read, but boring for me. Quite predictable and I didn't like how the main character couldn't drive a race car because of her fathers accident. On a side note I found it irritating that Piper the main character kept calling her father "Daddy."
The writing style was interesting and that's the only reason why I finished the book. The romance was lacking emotional content.

Poignant, entertaining, engaging, scary and at times sarcastically funny.

What I found most fascinating about Growing Things and Other Stories is the opportunity of delving into the authors personal thought processes. The "Notes" at the end of the short stories provides unique details on each short story and how they relate to his other books. The author gives valuable information about how he writes, and obtains ideas for his stories.

Educational, entertaining, fascinating, witty.

One of my favorite books of 2019. Oh my! These little bundle of joys gave Caitlin something to write about that's quite clear. Reading this book made me think about how as adults we miss the creativeness gift we once had as children. The questions are definitely thought-provoking, interesting, and thoroughly sourced. The list of sources at the end of the book is surprisingly interesting.

Crown of Coral and Pearl | Mara Rutherford
Mehso-so

Surprising, mystical, evocative, unique.

Crown of Coral and Pearl is a novel about royalty within a unique fantasy world. The world building is memorable along with the characters. The plot pertains to two sisters different but yet the same, beauty is a big aspect to this royal family that's destined for arranged marriages.

The character's are well developed but at times the story becomes dull with predictable elements. Later in the story.
