I do not read a lot of YA. I loved this book, the story, the cover! For the next book fitness challenge I hope to read 6 books, drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, meditate 3 times a week for at least 2 minutes, and work out for 20 minutes 3 times a week. #bfc2. @wanderinglynn

My daughter and I discovered a great walking path this week. It is a protected space. We also plan to take her kids and spook them a little. We saw 2 🐍 and the area is a little dark and mysterious! I have been mostly able to keep up with my goals. It has been fun trying. @wanderinglynn #bookfitnesschallenge

Aurora Floyd (Complete) | Mary Elizabeth Braddon
Pickpick

I loved Aurora Floyd as much as and maybe a little more than Lady Audley‘s Secret. I have listened to both books on the audiobooks app. I will continue with Brandon‘s books. I find the little I know of the author‘s life as fascinating as her stories. As I suspected I have not done well with my challenge but hope to step things up now that school is over and I have had a little rest. #BFC

rubyslippersreads I wonder if Tacy‘s father would have burned this one in the stove? 😄 #betsytacy 3w

My new lawn mower, a SunJoe. It is electric and great for the little yard I have to cut. It was also the beginning of my work outs for the week, followed by lots of gardening, baseball, soccer and jumping rope with the grandkids and some exercises at home. I squeezed in the last meditation last night and am almost through the first book. @wanderinglynn #Bookfitnesschallenge

slategreyskies I just bought an electric mower for us too. We haven‘t tried it out yet, but will probably try it this weekend. I have to admit that my first thought was of how cool the color of your mower is! Ours is silver. :) 1mo

slategreyskies Our last electric lawnmower had an extension cord too, but the one we purchased to replace it runs on battery power. My husband used it for the first time today, and he said that he liked not having a cord, since he‘d been worried about running over the cord before too. I‘m guessing it‘s not unlike using a vacuum cleaner in that you get into a rhythm of tossing the cord over and to the side. :) 1mo

Secrets of Eden: A Novel | Chris Bohjalian
Pickpick

This story pulled me in the first couple of pages. I followed the flawed characters to the end of the book, but not of their story. I correctly guessed where the story was going but the delivery still left me doubting to the end. Bohjalian has become a favorite author.

Lady Audley's Secret | Mary Elizabeth Braddon

I am listening to this on audiobooks and I love it! I especially love that it was written by a woman and published in 1862! And apparently there is a sequel!

jenniferw88 ??? I wasn't aware there was a sequel! I loved this book - studied it 3rd year of my degree for my literature of sexuality module. Used it in my essay with comparison to Far From the Madding Crowd. 3mo
Annl A follow up novel entitled @jenniferw88 3mo
Annl Maybe not a sequel? I have not dug too deeply, spoilers 😱 3mo
See All 6 Comments
jenniferw88 Thanks @Annl looks like it's a separate novel. From GR: Like Lady Audley, Aurora is a beautiful young woman bigamously married and threatened with exposure by a blackmailer. But in Aurora Floyd, and in many of the novels written in imitation of it, bigamy is little more than a euphemism, a device to enable the heroine, and vicariously the reader, to enjoy the forbidden sweets of adultery without adulterous intentions 3mo
Annl @jenniferw88 Do you think you will read the other book? Thanks for the information. 3mo

No the best photo, but they are soaking up the sunshine while I read. I loved getting to know Ruth Galloway. On to book #2 in the series! @Liberty @DeweysReadathon

Andrew65 This is one of my favourite series. 3mo
rretzler Also one of my favorite series! I just snagged the latest book as an ARC 2mo
Annl @rretzler My friends laugh at me because I am never up to date with series of books, especially English mysteries! They are my go to comfort books and I keep a large number of them for when I need those old friends! 2mo
See All 10 Comments
rretzler I‘m a huge fan of English mysteries too - they are also my comfort books. There are so many that it‘s hard to keep up with them all! I love Golden Age mysteries, but also the more modern ones. Have you read Peter Lovesey, Martha Grimes or Elizabeth George? They are a few of my more modern favorites, along with Elly Griffiths and Ann Cleeves. 2mo
Annl @rretzler Elizabeth George is my all time favorite. I am 2 books past the book with the awful event (you probably know to what I am referring). I have the last Dalgliesh to read from P.D. James. I have not heard of Peter Lovesey. I will have to check him out. I am presently reading Murder in G Major which I am enjoying, set in Ireland. 2mo
rretzler Yes, I do know the awful event - I refuse to read the next book in George‘s series, but I‘m caught up with it otherwise. Love PD James as well. I‘ve not heard of Murder in G Major, I‘ll have to check it out. Always good to compare notes with a fellow English mystery lover! 2mo
Annl @rretzler I also did not read the next book after the event in the George series. George gave an interview about why she did what she did? Not sure I agree? 2mo
Annl @rretzler Barbara is my favorite character in that series! 2mo
rretzler I also read it and while I guess I can see her point, I don‘t agree with it either. 2mo
rretzler I do like Barbara. In the upcoming books for you, Barbara gets to play a bigger role. 2mo

Tuesday is not happy with this book, but I was. It just crossed paths with me and I am so glad I picked it up. I am not generally a reader of YA but the take away, that a simple act on your part can make someone‘s day, like leaving loose change for people to find, made me feel so much joy. I plan to start doing that today, dropping a quarter when I take my dog for a walk. Highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
