pickThe ROMANCE. 😍 I honestly didn't know I still had it in me to enjoy a romance-forward book after mainlining them in my 20s, but evidently when a relationship has been built well over three previous books in a series, I can get on board. Raybourn rewards the patience of her readership. 😉 Also didn't know I could dig the gothic vibes, but adding in some tragic/spooky parts to the typical mystery, wit, banter and compassion worked well. 1/2

pickVeronica and Stoker are delightful, as always. The mystery here is dark and twisty. The secondary cast of characters are not all sympathetic or endearing, but they are well written. My only quibble is the audiobook narrator. I did not enjoy her performance and I absolutely hated the voices she chose for Stoker and his brother.
pickWith every novel of this series, I enjoy it more and more! This 4th instalment is fabulous. Veronica and Stoker yet again solved another mystery. Their friendship, mutual understanding, banter, and tension make this series such fun to read. I am looking forward to the next book.

This is the 4th installment and I'm proud to announce that although I'm usually an irregular series reader I've stuck to these books and been reading them consecutively without an interruption. I just can't seem to get enough of Veronica and Stoker!❤️❤️ Definitely a pick.

pickThis is such a fun series. Veronica and her grumpy companion Stoker are a very will they or won‘t they couple up to this point. The mystery in this one wasn‘t as interesting to me, or maybe I just missed some of it as I was listening, but by the end I was excited to see what happens in the next book. Luckily it was on the shelf at my library when I picked up other holds! I‘m hoping to make time for it this weekend.
pickI absolutely adore this series. It has so many elements I adore. A super sassy and capable heroine who lives life fully, amazing dialogue full of cute quips and witty repartee, historical setting, fun mysteries and great pacing. This one might be my favourite so far actually!
I‘m not sleeping too well at the moment - so hoping a few chapters with Miss Speedwell, chasing butterflies and Victorian murderers on a remote Cornish Isle will be a diversion!
pickThe mystery was pretty good if a little slow in parts. I only guessed half the mystery so part of it was a surprise. I spent most of the book though cussing out the MCs to just admit they love each other already! The ending was pretty satisfying though. #historicalmystery #historicalfiction
pickRe-reading this series has been a delight. In this particular book you get to see more of Tiberius's complicated character fleshed out and the mystery is especially good.

This one was a bit different. Stoker‘s brother, Tiberius is summoned to a friend‘s island home and takes them along. Malcolm Romilly‘s wife disappeared on their wedding day three years before. He wants to solve the mystery so he can move forward with his life. There‘s not a lot of action 🔻

so-soI love this series - the will-they-won‘t-they relationship between Stoker and Veronica, the cheeky banter, the mysteries... I‘m trash for all of it. But this was easily my least favourite so far and everything I love about the series was missing or lacklustre. The last quarter, however, saw the two back on sparkling form! ⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me.

pickVeronica and Stoker travel to a small British island to investigate the 3 year old mystery of a woman who disappeared on her wedding night. It was a solid mystery - I guessed some, but not all of the plot twists. There was *finally* some progress towards a romantic relationship between Stoker and Veronica, which made me very happy. I really, really love this series!
I just dropped the kids off at daycare (if I have to pay, they're going - even if I'm still on vacation! 🤣🤣🤣) and I plan on cleaning the house. First though, a little Me Time at my favorite coffee shop!

pickMy favorite of the series so far! As a fantasy buff, I‘m a sucker for local folklore/old tales weaving into a story, which made the Cornish setting of this installment intriguing. The plot was the best yet; it had me guessing almost till the end. Veronica & Stoker were as swoony & adorable as ever (Stoker, especially, was irresistibly cute in this one ♥️), but I did find Tiberius a tad problematic. An enchanting, exciting read! ★★★★☆.
So I still haven‘t felt 100% after my surgery last Friday. Only worked a 1/2 day yesterday and saw a doctor after work. She took some labwork (normal) and told me to stay home today and rest. So if I have to stay home I might as well snuggle with my baby Penny and read a good book right?!

pickAnother very good mystery in this series, extremely well told by the Audible narrator. The end is especially gratifying for those who‘ve made through all four books. I am excited for book five, to be released March 10, 2020, called A Murderous Relation!

Next Audible book for a long drive for a client meeting tomorrow. I‘ve really enjoyed this series and have listened to them all on Audible. So it was a good time to finally get to listen to book 4. I‘m very excited to catch up with the characters again!
I met my (simple) goals every day this week, so I‘m kicking it up a notch! Next week, I‘m aiming for 6,500 steps/day and one home-cooked meal/week. (The photo behind my check in is a caprese salad made with basil from my little herb garden!) 🙌🏻

pickThe mystery plot in this one was especially good, as was the tension between Stoker and Veronica. I liked seeing more of Tiberius's character fleshed out. Veronica is my favorite Victorian female character because she is more independent and modern than many women in 2019 are able to be. I hope I don't have to wait too long for another book.
