I think the thing about this series I love the most is that Alex is never the strongest mage in the room but he can still take care of himself. There hasn‘t been a case of noticeable power creep because each bad guy has a different set of magic so more power isn‘t the key to winning. In this one Alex is investigating missing apprentices.

I really like this series and this one was no exception. Alex‘s mage ability is really interesting as is the whole world building in the novels. I also love that these books aren‘t heavy bricks but instead a little lighter which at this point is a certain plus for me. Have to get my hands on the next part as soon as possible!

I made it to 5 hours of reading for #24in48. I made some good progress in both Taken and Artemis but now I have to take a small break to let my brain cool off😂

The 3rd installment in Jacka's Alex Verus series is an entertaining mystery (who's kidnapping apprentices?!) that also builds on existing relationships. Verus continues to be sucked deeper into the world of the Council and its politics, Luna continues to develop her abilities and the pressure is piled on.
Good book, but not a standalone. Read books 1 & 2 first!
