Late night snack and some Dresden Files.
Every night 😍
I love The Dresden Files, but Jim Butcher is one of those men who shouldn‘t be allowed to write about women. They are almost all beautiful, all breasts, and all about sex even when the situation is dire. It‘s boring. This one isn‘t one of my favorites either as it seems like two separate stories.
Walking = 2.12 miles
Eating = good with protein okay with veggies
Books = 1 audiobook
Been sitting waiting at the doctor for 3 hours. Why didn't I bring my ipad with book on it. So so so bored.
Today is the freezing promise of winter. It‘s a max of 15C and the promise of hail and possible thunder. I‘m sitting here with earphones in and crocheting my daughters blanket! Perfect!
Much better than the last book!! I am really enjoying this series so far. It has a wonderful cast of characters and I am loving the addition of Michael. Bob has still got to be my favorite though.
I have be listening to these on audio and I continue to be impressed with the narration. Marsters does a fantastic job of giving life to these characters.
I probably looked a little crazy laughing while I was shoveling snow today but these books can be very entertaining.
I wanted to write one post on Litsy per day this year, but I'm already 5 days behind 😂 Ah well. I guess I'll need to catch up later.
I've been in the mood for the Dresden Files lately and have started a little re-read of the series. Maybe there will be some more news about the new volume Peace Talks until I'm done. Fingers crossed 😉
Mehhhh. I'm starting to think this series isn't for me. Conceptually, i should like it. Paranormal investigations, wizardry, a panoply of supernatural beings...but the writing, especially of the main character, drives me crazy. And gah the descriptions of woman *maximum eye roll* i might not pursue more. #mommyreads #fantasy #ghosts #vamps #ebook
I read the first two books multiple times because I wasn't impressed and I promptly forgot everything about them. Everyone who recommends this series to me says this is the book it starts getting good and to just stick it out. I obviously didn't and had to restart the series again and again. So I decided to just start reading this one and it's miles better than the other two. I'm still not sold on Butcher as a good writer, but I might continue on.
This was on my Pinterest wall yesterday...It remains my absolute favorite moment in The dresden Files and I think this was the moment I fell so very much in love with the series!???
Michael: " I can't believe you came to the vampire ball dressed as a vampire"
Harry: Not just a vampire...a cheesy vampire" ????

This entry in the Dresden Files got a little confusing to me in places, but not enough to make me lose interest or the thread of the plot. I haven't met one of these books I didn't like yet. The characters, particularly Harry himself, are all fun/interesting and keep me reading.
My favorite of the 3 Dresden Files books I‘ve read, which I am sticking with because Spike narrates the audio versions. I like these, but I don‘t have the overwhelming love for them that others do. Harry is still a misogynist, but I think that my biggest complaint about this series is that Butcher can‘t write women for shit. Which would be fine if he didn‘t insist on writing them, but he does. Ugh. I‘m trying not to overanalyze & enjoy the good.
"I still can't believe," Micheal said sotto voce, "that you came to the Vampire's Masquerade Ball dressed as a Vampire."
Today's word could mean so many things to so many people, home, family, comfort, routine, safety from danger, ect but I often find #Shelter in laughter and sarcasm. As such I give you the literary king of sarcasm Harry Dresden.

I‘ve been bad with keeping up with my reading on my Litsy account. It‘s been showing me reading Grave Peril for a long time. In fact, I finished it a good ways back and even finished the book after Grave Peril.
The series definitely seems to level up with this installment. The best part of it is seeing Harry working with others instead of going all “lone wolf,” as he usually does.

While I've recognized that Jim Butcher can write a good story, I've not really understood the love even my best friends have for this series. Just finished chapter 13 of Grave Peril, and I finally get it. Jim called this a book a turning point for him and the series. It is. This is where it finally stops being just plot and gives some open, honest heart. I even think the reading by James Marsters takes a step up here, and he was already great.
Exciting stuff - more of the characters I remember are coming into play: Thomas and Justine, Michael and Charity, Father Foothill and Godmother Lea. This is the book where we learn a little about the Vampire Courts (and types of vampires) which will start to play a much larger part in future books. And it's morbid, but I did laugh when Bianca presented Harry with his tombstone 😂
3+ listening hours down. I love this series! Making dinner for my large family: shrimp and vegetable stir fry, pot stickers (store bought), rangoon (80! pictured above handmade), and Miso soup.

When Dresden goes on about how good kissing Susan feels and I end up feeling like 😷 human bodies are so gross, and I have little tolerance for reading about how awesome they are right now. I have the urge to read some TF comics now. Maybe I'll reread Redemption because I've got a huuuuuge crush on Barricade right now. 🚓😍
