HARRY DRESDEN -- WIZARDLost items found. Paranormal Investigations. Consulting. Advice. Reasonable Rates. No Love Potions, Endless Purses, or Other EntertainmentHarry Dresden's faced some pretty terrifying foes during his career. Giant scorpions. Oversexed vampires. Psychotic werewolves. It comes with the territory when you're the only professional wizard in the Chicago area phone book. But in all Harry's years of supernatural sleuthing, he's never faced anything like this: the spirit world's gone postal. All over Chicago, ghosts are causing trouble -- and not just of the door-slamming, boo-shouting variety. These ghosts are tormented, violent, and deadly. Someone -- or something -- is purposely stirring them up to wreak unearthly havoc. But why? And why do so many of the victims have ties to Harry? If Harry doesn't figure it out soon, he could wind up a ghost himself....

The spirit world has gone nuts. Harry has to play Ghostbusters with Michael.

The vampires are having a costume party.

Harry's friends are in peril and he has little magic left to cast the next spell.

I think I need to binge the next book now.

I really enjoyed this book more than the previous two. The whole stalking vampires/evil godmother plot line is fascinating and watching Harry outwit them (with great difficulty!) is fun. I also like his righteous (literally) new sidekick, Michael. His morality is a great foil for Harry‘s bad-boy persona. I definitely intend to continue this series!

DarkMina This is such a fun series. One of my favorites! 9mo

This book is the 3rd installment in the Dresden Files series. Love the character of Harry Dresden as a wizard for hire. Great plot and lots of action. My only problem is there is too much action. At the halfway point I was starting to crave more. While I enjoyed it, I am not in a rush to read the next installment. Glad I got my copy from the library. 3.5ish ⭐ Note: I did round up on GoodReads since I felt it was better than 3.

Erinsuereads Ok keep reading! This one was my least favorite. I'm on the tenth one right now. It gets soooooo much better. 1y

🎧 Michael … Harry called him “the right arm of God” … has lost his sword.

I‘m loving this series reread. Michael is an excellent companion/helper for Harry. This book made me think I skipped a book.

This book‘s monster is … ghosts.

There‘s more magic & the vampire court politics & Harry‘s godmother & Susan, Tom, Lea.

This book has the most going on so far & characters show growth! Book 4 is on wait list so .. Dark Tower!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/8

I greatly enjoyed my reread of this one. The series definitely kept getting better as it evolves.

The vampires play a big role in this one.

James Marsters is still very much the reason I listen to this because to me, he is Harry!

I just don't think I can do the character the same justice that Marsters does as he acts the scenes out. The weariness, the heavy press of a case, the overall ugh from the hits and bruises that blossom on his skin as he gets himself into trouble. Marsters for me is one reason why I'll be going on with the series.

LiteraryinLawrence Great review! 2y

Hey new book friends, I just posted a video doing a review on the Dresden files, Grave Peril. If you have time please watch it, and also if you have a little more time, let me know how I can improve. I‘m finally learning how to edit better and use texts and things like that. Hope y‘all enjoy and here‘s the link:

PurpleyPumpkin Welcome to Litsy! And congrats on starting a YouTube channel. 👍🏽Making videos is a bit daunting for me. 😬I‘ll definitely check it out soon. 3y
RobStark92 @PurpleyPumpkin Thanks a bunch! Appreciate those kind words! It‘s definitely an adjustment, and I‘m doing it all from my iPhone, but hopefully improvement will continue as it has been. 3y
PurpleyPumpkin I‘m sure it‘ll be great. Looking forward to it! 3y
KathyWheeler I‘m waiting for the latest Dresden Files book to come out. (edited) 3y
RobStark92 @KathyWheeler I‘m not that far in yet :) I‘m really excited though the first three have been very promising! 3y
Texreader I enjoyed your video and think there‘s a lot of potential! I‘d recommend scripting it, so there‘s not so many “really”s in it. What about adding some still screens with headers (I.e., to make “chapters” to set off the different things you‘ll be describing about the book or author or series) and quotes from the book? If you can find some royalty-free images to use, that‘d be cool to emphasize some of the parts of the book you described. 👍🏻 3y
RobStark92 @Texreader I‘ve tried scripting before. I used to do a lot of public speaking and I tried scripting and it always just came across as if I was just reading :S I suppose outlining might do well. And yes, you‘re right I should definitely use some quotes I‘ll write that down for next time. And headers would be good as well. I‘m still getting used to editing and I‘m just using iMovie for now lol but thanks a bunch for the advice I‘ll take it to heart! 3y
Texreader @RobStark92 I use outlines too. I think your coverage of topics was great, so headers would be a nice way to break it up. I used to do a lot in iMovie. I think you are going to really enjoy it!! 3y
KathyWheeler @RobStark92 I‘ve enjoyed them all -/ including the graphic novels. If you like audiobooks, James Marsters does a fantastic job of embodying Harry. 3y
RobStark92 @KathyWheeler I have the audiobook as well and yes James Marstees is an incredible narrator!! I‘m not much into graphic novels, which is weird because all my friends think that someone like me would be into them, but I might get them eventually just to have around 3y
KathyWheeler @RobStark92 I read them because I‘d read all the books but still missed Harry. 😊 3y

I‘ll say I loved it. I‘m really enjoying reading the Dresden files and really getting into it. Harry Dresden is such a strong main protagonist, and the side characters like Michael and the rest. Good inclusion of Christian elements without being hateful. Vampires, ghosts, demons and a whole lot more. A few minor issues. Minor issues with writing style. Below link to my YouTube video.

I love The Dresden Files, but Jim Butcher is one of those men who shouldn‘t be allowed to write about women. They are almost all beautiful, all breasts, and all about sex even when the situation is dire. It‘s boring. This one isn‘t one of my favorites either as it seems like two separate stories.

Mehhhh. I'm starting to think this series isn't for me. Conceptually, i should like it. Paranormal investigations, wizardry, a panoply of supernatural beings...but the writing, especially of the main character, drives me crazy. And gah the descriptions of woman *maximum eye roll* i might not pursue more. #mommyreads #fantasy #ghosts #vamps #ebook

Riveted_Reader_Melissa They actually get better as they go in my opinion, but yes the early books are very much a broad walks into my place, PI Noir 50‘s vibe. 4y

I read the first two books multiple times because I wasn't impressed and I promptly forgot everything about them. Everyone who recommends this series to me says this is the book it starts getting good and to just stick it out. I obviously didn't and had to restart the series again and again. So I decided to just start reading this one and it's miles better than the other two. I'm still not sold on Butcher as a good writer, but I might continue on.

My favorite of the 3 Dresden Files books I‘ve read, which I am sticking with because Spike narrates the audio versions. I like these, but I don‘t have the overwhelming love for them that others do. Harry is still a misogynist, but I think that my biggest complaint about this series is that Butcher can‘t write women for shit. Which would be fine if he didn‘t insist on writing them, but he does. Ugh. I‘m trying not to overanalyze & enjoy the good.
