Oooh this was a cringey read, it explained so well why we keep going back, holding out hope for that unrequited love. I want to make one of my best friends read it, to show her how ridiculous she is being - but 'the girlfriend chorus' are easy to ignore, as I have done myself in the past! Reminded me of Almost Love. Really good.

Very pleased to receive this proof copy of Jane Casey's latest in the post (not yet in Litsy library)!

Well, this one is a surprise! Based on Greek myth and Shakespeare, a whole set of characters have just moved pretty seamlessly from contemporary extreme English wealth to an Ancient Greek adventure. Reminding me a bit of Washington Black but I think I like it more!

I have been feeling poorly for over a week now so am doing nothing this weekend except snuggling and reading 😊🤧🤒😷📚📚📚

I have read 6 (nearly), loving tagged book but not yet finished. Of those I've read I have picked 3 which I think deserve shortlisting and for the other 3 I have gone with reviews/hype and those I most want to "have" to read!

After a non-stop few days at a friend's wonderful wedding, I am doing nothing but sunbathing in the garden and have just finished this brilliant book. It's not got a lot of Litsy love but it reminds me a bit of The Lonely Hearts Hotel and a bit of The Blind Assassin. It's futuristic and fantastical and disturbing and intertwines a "regular" narrative, with letters and a collection of very dark, odd short stories - fab!!

We are (fingers crossed) moving house so had a very busy day packing and trying to bring myself to throw things away - I'm so sentimental!

So now relaxing with this - don't think it's as good as some of her other books, but still a great read. Trying to finish all my library books before moving day...!

This book is so hard to read because its so bloody honest about how horrible we can be! It's great though.

A fun final last week, only got to 65k steps, so off my target but had my first ever swim in Lake Windermere and read three books - loved the tagged including the controversial ending!

Very odd, no idea what was going on but I loved the weirdness, the vivid sensory descriptions and the disturbing but completely believable consequences of jealousy, love and boredom.

Late for my #bfc wrap up. Only finished one book - tagged - which is by no means perfect but I would still recommend especially if you love school based, female friendship dramas with a bit of witchcraft thrown in. Did my 70k steps this week and also had a lovely river swim today!

Nearly made my 70k steps target for the week, and we had Sports Day at work yesterday so had a bit of a run around there!

I had a great first week for #bfc mainly as I had several days out the office, some long train trips and I'm in the Lakes for the weekend - here with my dad on today's walk. We will see whether I manage to do as well with a more normal week next week!

First day of #bfc for me and I did my 10000 steps (not as sunny a day as had been promised, but you can just make out the London skyline) and finished the tagged book which was a 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 read.

My goals are minimum of 8000 steps a day, minimum of 70000 steps a week, minimum of 2 books a week.

Look what I found on my office book swap shelf today?! Its normally full of ropey romances so am very excited to have found this!

Nine days away - first to Ibiza for a friend's wedding, then to Hay. All wonderful but action packed and so the train back to London is my first chance of getting more that a few minutes reading time in! Enjoying this collection of interconnected fairy tales set in Neverness.

Received the last book of #whodunituk! Can't believe we have come to an end but I reckon I have a strong finisher! Mine also went in the post today to @ScorpioBookDreams xxx

Perfect bookshop and café to escape the freezing cold wind of Trieste! We have done lots of walking around so read the tagged book sneakily on my phone at any spare moment. I really like this police procedural series set in London.

If you like dark high school stories you'll like this. Depressingly accurate about teen bullying and really powerful in evoking a small town, no outsiders here atmosphere. I have no idea if parts of the US are really like this, but the description of lemming like behaviour and power in the hands of the few was pretty scary. Not without fault but I really enjoyed it. Read on the train to Trieste.

First day back to work after a few days skiing. Bookmail makes it all ok and I won this one with Readers First - look at the 3 wonderful authors who are praising it (and Shamsie on the front cover, Groff on the inside!) - sounds good to me!

Another great book of short stories and they're so good for a commute! I definitely want to read more of Hall. 5 stars, book 10

This book could do with a massive edit and I don't agree that the author is a great writer but at the same time it was soooo readable. Blends travelling around with Obama as a junior staffer with a reminder of what it is to work in a fun, intense workplace when you're young - definitely recognised her experiences and bad choices though as mine weren't in the White House, they might have been less exciting to read about! 3 stars, book 9.
