The Witch of Duva
The Witch of Duva: A Tor.Com Original | Leigh Bardugo
17 posts | 58 read | 23 to read
There was a time when the woods near Duva ate girls...or so the story goes. But it's just possible that the danger may be a little bit closer to home. This story is a companion folk tale to Leigh Bardugo's debut novel, Shadow and Bone.

Creepier and more unsettling than I had thought it would be, this short story is great for spooky season. It is set in the Grishaverse, but it is more of a folk tale. I honestly didn't see the twist at the end, it changes my view of the whole story. The story was written so well. I kind of want more with these characters in it. I want to know what exactly happened with them.

A sinister and chilling tale that takes place in a small village called Duva. This is a short story that, although is set in the the Grishaverse, it‘s set apart from the world of Grisha.

Rating: 4/5
Review continued ⬇️

i.besteph (contd) The small town is terrorized by the infamous Witch of Duva who enjoys “eating girls.”
It focuses on a girl named Nadya and her family. As a great famine hits their small village, the people grow desperate in needs and so does “the witch.”

i.besteph (contd) In its entirety, the book is dark. Brace yourself for the ending. I know it definitely caught me completely off guard! That‘s probably all I can say without spoiling it. 😅💯

GatheringBooks @tpixie it is the first time i am hearing of this as well. It seems to be part of grishaverse. 3y
tpixie @GatheringBooks thanks. I‘ve read the first three but haven‘t started the crew of six but I almost feel like I should just start over if I‘m going to do it. I just don‘t remember the books I‘ve read as much as I used to!! 3y

A little short story in the world of the Grisha by Leigh Bardugo. A kind of creepy version of Hansel and Gretel. Definitely recommend if you‘re reading the other books in the series. 5/5 stars.

A mix of familiar folk tales, turned on their heads. If you are looking for something short and dark, this is the story you‘re looking for. Nadia thinks she knows what goes bump in the night, but she is only partly right. A monster stalks the night, searching for a tender bite.

Finally had a real winter snow, so cocoa was a must! I fell hard for this deliciously dark fairy tale. It was the perfect little wintry read. Bumping Grisha books up my TBR! #witchyreads #bookreview #review #ebook

Well THAT number is aggravating. 😂 But not bad, considering for basically the whole month of January, I wasn‘t good for much of anything! #goodreadsyearinreview #goodreads2017

FictionFox I'm going to send you a 1-page long book to fix this 😂 6y
actualdisneyprincess @FictionFox 😂😂😂 at this point it‘s more than that because I‘m about 100 pages into “You Will Know Me,” but COME ON, WHAT ARE THE CHANCES. 6y

Bailedbailed

I just finished the Grisha trilogy and absolutely LOVED it, so I got in in my head to read all novellas and anything related. But I wish I hadn't read this one, because it didn't entirely make sense and it was over almost before it had begun. Bummer.

Elisa Well technically I didn't bail but I wish I hadn't bothered so I figured that fit best. 8y
EliseWhitmore @Elisa Needed something worse than 'pan'? Change approved 😋 8y
BookNerdBritt Of the Grishaverse short stories that I've read, Little Knife is my favorite. 8y
