This definitely lives up to the hype. It's hard to believe this was the authors 1st book. I did this as a buddy read with my sister and she loved it just as much as I did. I immediately bought us both the sequel which is actually a prequel.

What sweet fun whimsical story I devoured in audio, will definitely be reading more of this series !
Book 6 #readaway2024
What a fun romp this was! High fantasy meets cozy, with a little romance. Viv is an Orc who is done with the bounty life and is looking to settle down. She wants to open a coffee shop - the first one in the city of Thune. She meets a quirky, lovable cast of characters along the way. Funny, hopeful, sweet. This is fantastic on audio - Travis Baldree is a voice talent turned author and voices his own book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 ❤️📚
I started this one on audio a couple of days ago. I got attached to the characters in the prequel, so I‘m hoping I didn‘t ruin my experience with this book by reading that one first. This one takes place several decades later. It‘s fun so far and the narration is excellent. The author is a voice talent and lends his voice to his own work with these books. ❤️📚🎧
Well, if I‘m not allowed to get up, I may as well finish a book!
I enjoyed this, though I didn‘t love it as much as I hoped. It was a fun, pleasant read. It did hit one of my pet peeves a couple times (it seems all the books I‘m reading right now are doing that). I liked all the characters. I will be reading the prequel.
After reading Bookshops and Bonedust, I had to revisit Viv as she finally finds her purpose and people ☕❤️ I think I enjoyed reading this even more the second time. Plus I hadn't read the bonus prequel yet so that was a fun connector of the two!

Welp, I wasn't planning on rereading this one just yet but ever since finishing Bookshops and Bonedust, I can't get Viv out of my head. So here we are 🙃 #moodreader

I‘ve seen so much love for this book, and though this genre is definitely not my usual read, I had a bit of FOMO. Then, when it was on @LiteraryinLawrence ‘s #AuldLangSpine list, I knew I had to try it. And, I really liked it! Totally not what I was expecting! I loved how Viv rebuilds her life through the cafe. My mouth watered over the treats Thimble bakes.
It was a good story. I liked it that much that I have a library hold on the next book!
- The strength of the book are the characters, definitely. And I liked the diversity. Especially Thimble!
Atmosphere/Setting: - Nicely done world making and just a hint of magical stuff.
Well written and easy to read. Not much of a plot, but the story moves ahead anyway I did love how the characters come together, despite Viv at times.
• Enjoyment: - Definitely enjoyed it.
Rating: 3.5 💙

Hold finally came in from the library I‘m not really a fantasy girly with the exception of currently reading the acotar series but I‘m 22% threw and so far it‘s cute, I have heard positive things about it from a YouTuber friend and her daughter so I thought why not

Thanks for the tag @JenReadsAlot 💕
1) Beverages? Moi?
2) With the books I've been reading this month, I think I should be drinking something stiffer. Brainwyrms buddy read with @jhod , Our Share of Night has its fair share of horror... and listening to Portnoy complain... someone pour me an Amaretto and coke...

This was a cute book. Again outside of my “normal” preferences. But I was soon lost in the fantasy world created in the story. Now to read the prequel. #readaway2024
I *loved* this coffee & Ratatouille fanfic story! 😅
I kid…except about the loving it part. That part, I‘m serious about.
Seanan McGuire hails Baldree‘s novel as “sweet” & “kind” and she‘s absolutely right. It feels so comforting and hopeful to read about someone who has found — no, *created* — their happy place. It inspires the reader to actively wonder what they might need and what changes they might make in their own life to be so content.
Drinking coffee while reading Legends & Lattes like…
The sexiest scene on TV in 1998. And ever since. 🔥

But honestly? That first sip? You only get one.
Two good selections!

@TheAromaofBooks - Thanks so much for doing this again this year.
#12Booksof2023 Day 4: what a fun and low-key series. I probably liked the prequel more that L&L, but both were lovely.
Cute light high fantasy read!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Last day in the Bahamas and back to chilly NYC.
Starting this while lying on the beach in the Bahamas!
Merry Christmas Everyone! 🎄
I hope you all get lots of books 📚

On the first day of Christmas, my reading gave to me an Orc who just wants to make coffee! 🎶
So many great books in January, but Viv, Tandri, Cal, and Thimble style my heart.
@Andrew65
4✨ A really relaxing read that I didn‘t want to put down. I liked that they were building this business from the beginning. While we know what a coffee shop is, these fantasy creatures were discovering it for the first time. It was relaxing to the effect of causing me to space out quite a bit while I listened so I may have missed some things, but overall really excited that I enjoyed it. #SnowedIn @PuddleJumper @Clwojick
Thank you so much Kim! @BarkingMadRead I‘m so excited to read this book and I love the yummy treats! #jolabokaflod23
This wasn‘t a perfect book, but it was perfect for me! I adored this gentle, cozy slice of life fantasy filled with community building and stepping way out of your comfort zone to follow a dream. I didn‘t expect this to make me cry from warm and fuzzy feelings. I‘m a huge sucker for community coming together. #LGBTQIA #SliceOfLife #Cozy
😬Unpopular opinion. I didn‘t like this one as much as I wanted to🤷🏽♀️It is so hyped that I was expecting more. Book was discussed in my book club and we had the same impression. No much plot with cute characters but not well described. But I love my two editions. I have the sequel which I will read and I will buy the UK edition of the second boo just match that one, book collector😂 2.5/3⭐️
It‘s a good day for Legends & Lattes. What‘s in the cup? Why, a latte of course… ☕️🥛📖
Went to a library communicators conference in Indianapolis this week. It was really a great learning experience! The evening between, I spent some time enjoying a book at the hotel bar. If you‘ve never read a book at a bar, you don‘t know what you‘re missing (unless you don‘t drink, in which case this would be a very skip-able experience!).
This was a true delight. It reminded me of The House in the Cerulean Sea with charming characters, warm friendships, a bit of queer romance and a magical world. I don‘t read fantasy or cozies usually, but this was one of my favorite books of the year! I highly recommend the audiobook which is performed quite masterfully by the author. 💗💗💗💗💗
I heard this before I read it, but this is really the definition of cozy read. Viv is an orc that tired of her adventures as mercenary and with the use of a lucky stone opens a coffee shop in a city that never heard of coffee. In this fantasy world enough things happen so the day to day of starting a new business in a new city doesn't become boring, but not too much either to feel the coziness of a cup of coffee and a cinnamon roll leave us.
Super excited for November #bookspinbingo! I should have more reading time than last month. Here is my list!
So very good! I've heard a lot of great things about this book and they are all correct. I loved it. A quick and satisfyingly delightful read. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Laney's cooking isn't the best - though she kindly offers to swap recipes.
I‘m pretty sure I forgot to do #Roll100 in October, but here‘s my November rolls! I already read Untamed, so it‘s on to Legends and Lattes (which I started recently!) and Children of Blood and Bone! @PuddleJumper

Thank you so much Cynthia for the awesome #modernwitchswap package! 💜 This brightened my day! The stickers and coloring book are so fun! I love the book! And I can't wait to try the tea with the adorable kitty infuser! Have a wonderfully witchy Halloween! 🐈⬛✨🧡
I‘ve seen this book all over Litsy…I can feel myself caving. 🤣

So the hero is an older female orc warrior, retiring. Take every trope and turn it on its head. 🙃
Just what I need RN.
Currently 99p on Amazon Kindle. Great book and a good read for #scarathlon
West Portal, Bookshop didn‘t disappoint! They have the most amazing gifts and bookmarks. I‘m happy I found this gem in their bookstore. I can‘t wait to dive into this title.
And this one rounds out my September reading and gets me caught up on posting finished books. I was looking for fun, light reads, and this fit the bill. Cozy and charming, it went down easy.
Viv, an orc and ex-mercenary, decides to hang up her sword and open a coffee shop in a city where no one knows what coffee is. She finds her tribe along the way. What a delightfully charming little book about found family, community, kindness, and reinventing yourself after starting over again. The equivalent of a big warm hug on a chilly autumn day! Definitely add this to your fall TBRs and don‘t forget to grab a cuppa before diving in! 💚 5/5
#two4tuesday @TheSpineView 😊
Thanks for the tag @The_Penniless_Author 🙃
1) Dim sum!
2) I can't tell you how uninterested I am in reading about food or watching cookery programmes. I'm only interested in food I can ACTUALLY NOM. Which is why I was pleasantly surprised by Legends & Lattes.
I also liked Before the coffee gets cold for it's vivid coffee descriptions! I can practically smell it.
This book was, exactly as I‘d consistently heard, simply lovely.
This was a fun, light listen. I love the in-depth world building of high fantasy, but this is not that. It‘s a cosy read about starting over and finding true friendship in a fantasy world built around creatures and concepts with which many readers are already familiar but are never described in detail. It absolutely makes you want to hang out in a coffee shop sipping delicious beverages and eating pastries with your best friends.
#audiobook
This isn‘t a latte, and it‘s not accompanied by one of the amazing baked goods I craved the entire time I read this book, but it is a mocha nut mate tea, so I think that counts for something. I LOVED this novel of “high fantasy and low stakes.” An orc retires from fighting so she can start a coffee shop—and builds a beautiful community of friends in the process. Cozy, huggable, delightful—everything I hoped it would be. August #BookSpin complete!
#bookspin #doublespin @TheAromaofBooks
I'm obviously meant to read Legends & Lattes, this is the second consecutive month it's turned up!
