And this one rounds out my September reading and gets me caught up on posting finished books. I was looking for fun, light reads, and this fit the bill. Cozy and charming, it went down easy.
Viv, an orc and ex-mercenary, decides to hang up her sword and open a coffee shop in a city where no one knows what coffee is. She finds her tribe along the way. What a delightfully charming little book about found family, community, kindness, and reinventing yourself after starting over again. The equivalent of a big warm hug on a chilly autumn day! Definitely add this to your fall TBRs and don‘t forget to grab a cuppa before diving in! 💚 5/5

1) Dim sum!
2) I can't tell you how uninterested I am in reading about food or watching cookery programmes. I'm only interested in food I can ACTUALLY NOM. Which is why I was pleasantly surprised by Legends & Lattes.
I also liked Before the coffee gets cold for it's vivid coffee descriptions! I can practically smell it.
This book was, exactly as I‘d consistently heard, simply lovely.
This was a fun, light listen. I love the in-depth world building of high fantasy, but this is not that. It‘s a cosy read about starting over and finding true friendship in a fantasy world built around creatures and concepts with which many readers are already familiar but are never described in detail. It absolutely makes you want to hang out in a coffee shop sipping delicious beverages and eating pastries with your best friends.

This isn‘t a latte, and it‘s not accompanied by one of the amazing baked goods I craved the entire time I read this book, but it is a mocha nut mate tea, so I think that counts for something. I LOVED this novel of “high fantasy and low stakes.” An orc retires from fighting so she can start a coffee shop—and builds a beautiful community of friends in the process. Cozy, huggable, delightful—everything I hoped it would be. August #BookSpin complete!

I'm obviously meant to read Legends & Lattes, this is the second consecutive month it's turned up!
This is a feel-good book that will make you crave a hot cup of coffee and a cinnamon roll. Viv is not your average orc. She has hung up her sword (literally) in favor of opening a coffee shop with a diverse group of beings. You have to read it to understand. It is precious. Think TJ Klune.
Book 107 of the year.
I just cannot get into this.
Latte required with tagged book, correct? ☕️
I'm so excited the Kickstarter project I funded (my first time doing that) finally came. I'm in love with the stickers, though I have no idea what to do with them. And the bookmark is perfect. Travis Baldree signed the back of it. I sort of forgot about this because I did it like 15 months ago. So it was a sweet surprise in my mailbox today. 🐁
Delightful fantasy about the power of coffee and true friendship
Next up and I‘m enjoying it ( need to make a latte obviously)
i actually didn‘t care for this too much. the characters just weren‘t developed as much as i‘d like. overrated in my opinion, but i can see how others enjoy it.

Kid#2 wanted to christen her new glass/mug (right). We made iced decaf 'dalgona'-ish coffee and kiddo went off with my copy of the tagged book. 😁

My TBR for August book clubs @FountainBookstore came in today. I am excited for all of these books. Have you read any of them?
8/10. Easy read. There is no serious world building, they use common knowledge of fantasy with little twist of their own. I love the introduction of coffee and the concept of a coffee shop is the base. This book is a slice of life/feel good story of how it‘s never to late to start a dream or new path. I would love to see this cafe used in other stories. I would actually go to this cafe! #gl #dnd #coffee #sliceoflife
The menu grows during the book. But it‘s the last line for me, I am not sure if this was the right saying to use. — they are in a coffee shop & they use to be mercenaries, but I felt it didn‘t match but that‘s me. 🤷🏾♀️
Book 2 — this has been on my #tbr list ever since I saw the cover. This book was sent to be from a fellow #listylove member.
To all my #litsylove folks that I write too the title might look familiar to my signature lol so why not enjoy it with one my favorite treats! #hmart #gl #dnd #lattes #nerdy #litsyloveswap
I finished this a few days ago and forgot to post — what a lovely read, though. Warm and cozy like a fuzzy blanket, with enough intrigue and action to keep the story moving, not so much as to be intense. Absolutely recommend for a quiet read that will make you feel good.
An Orc decides to leave her past life behind, settle down and open a coffee shop. In a town that doesn‘t know what coffee is.
Just fantastic. Fab characters, lots of fun. Huge cosy fantasy pick (is that a genre?). Coffee and cinnamon buns essential on the side.
Thanks for the recommendation @julesG @Leniverse @RaeLovesToRead (not sure if it was one or all of you!)

Regardless of my lack of love for coffee, I'm on the bandwagon! This was indeed a treat to read. Gentle, cozy, light - pick your desired adjective - fantasy: still discernable plot, action and personal challenges and growth. Still conflict, unpleasant people, just the right amount of salt with the sugar. 😉 Enjoyed the friends with potential dynamic, the casual queer rep. The danger kitty! Thimble's devoted fan club has one more member. 🥰
New gender just dropped.
"I don't need your name to suit me." Well said. ??
#FairyLoot Special Edition. The silver foil cup is duplicated on the back cover. The spine is also in silver foiling. The jacket is a subtle silver holographic foil. The end papers are identical to the original book cover artwork. There‘s a b&w copy of that image opposite the title page. The top & bottom have black block sprayed edges and the long edge design is a digitally sprayed rainbow fade from top to bottom. Really pretty. Great audiobook!
What a book 🥰😻😍 I adored this. I love that it‘s marketed so well. It really is what it says it is - cozy, soothing, comforting. But I did not find it boring or that the plot didn‘t grip me. Such a nice book. Nice in the best way 😂 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Saw so many people mention this one and I saw in a used bookstore so I had to pick it up! Let‘s hope it‘s good! The cover is eye catching.
I‘ve been back at home repairs and it seems anything I think will be a quick project turns into a major long term thing.
I really really really want a coffee now.
Y‘all. It‘s frigid and rainy in Maine right now so I‘m huddled under blankets in front of a space heater in our Glamping tent. It‘s a rough life 🤷🏻♀️ starting this one!
Next up! Headed to Maine for a retreat, so of course I have a stack of books to bring. Don‘t worry, #pemberlittens I finished our book and have posts written out for each day! #planahead

Thanks for the tag! @ravenlee ?
1) Quite a few ? Including Harlan Coben, Samantha Shannon, Brian K. Vaughan, TJ Klune & Adrian Tchaikovsky.
Whether I said anything to them except for "wibble, you're so cool" is another matter ??
Also, I'm buds with a certain Randall DeVallance.. (you're tagged @The_Penniless_Author )
2) ............ it has been known ??
3) For starters, I'd visit Legends & Lattes ?
Is this a great, literary masterpiece? No. Is it wonderful, frothy fun that‘s perfect for when you need something light? Heck, yeah! Looking forward to the next one. Up next, as our road trip book, is a far darker novel, Red Moon. I‘ve read it before but wanted my husband to do so as well, as I think it‘s a great werewolf novel. Continued with Agatha Christie on my walk. We went to Barnes & Noble, and I got two books. #audiowalk
Blaming it on listy and reading about coffee all morning, this is me a serious tea drinker having a latte, and a strawberry roll is coming :)
What's this?! A book review?! Well, hot damn, here I am! 🤣🤣🤣
This one is mentioned everywhere, so I had to check it out. It was more of a cozy novel about found family with fantasy creatures moreso than what I'd consider a traditional high-fantasy. It was cute, but not much happens. If you're looking for a light palate cleanser, you'll find it here. A low pick for me, as I think I wanted either a cool world or fantastical hijinks. ⬇️
Ok, consider me on the bandwagon for this one! It is adorable and I am loving it! It continuously brings a smile to my face & warms my heart! The characters are adorable & I just want to live in their cozy little world. Plus, can you imagine anything better than introducing coffee to those who have never heard of it?! Sigh…☕️🧌 also shout out to @LeslieO for my awesome #muglove mug! ❤️
I enjoyed this one 😊♥️
Read for reading challenges.
4/5
Positives: it‘s a short quick read with fantasy elements, it‘s cozy & positive and gave me the excuse to go to the cafe & get a brown sugar latte and cookie sandwich.
Negatives: I found it at times unbearably predictable. I was halfway & knew entirely how the next half would go.
I do not feel this is a “must read”. If you need a mini slump buster or a mellow upbeat read maybe this is the 1 for you. It wasn‘t really for me, but I didn‘t hate it.
#unpopularopinion 🤷 Maybe even very unpopular opinion? Since there are maybe three people in the world who do not adore this one.
I was totally in the mood for something low-key, but this one was just way too low-key. I thought it pretty boring to be honest... Why should I care about the characters when I know that everything will be magically fixed? Deus Ex Machina extreme.
Writing style too superficial, no atmosphere or character depth...
