Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet
Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet | Darynda Jones
6 posts | 49 read | 4 to read
Welcome to the world of grim reaper extraordinaire, Charley Davidson. Try as she might, there's no avoiding her destiny. Sometimes being the grim reaper really is, well, grim. And since Charley's last case went so awry, she has taken a couple of months off to wallow in the wonders of self-pity. But when a woman shows up on her doorstep convinced someone is trying to kill her, Charley has to force herself to rise above . . . or at least get dressed. It becomes clear something is amiss when everyone the woman knows swears she's insane. But the more they refute the woman's story, the more Charley believes it. In the meantime, the sexy, sultry son of Satan, Reyes Farrow, is out of prison and out of Charley's life, as per her wishes and several perfectly timed death threats. But his absence has put a serious crimp in her sex life. While there are other things to consider, like the fact that the city of Albuquerque has been taken hostage by an arsonist, Charley is having a difficult time staying away. Especially when it looks like Reyes may be involved. Just when life was returning to normal, Charley is thrust back into the world of crime, punishment, and the devil in blue jeans in this hilarious fourth installment in the New York Times bestselling series from Darynda Jones. .

Fun and quirky series. Still enjoying them 💚

wanderinglynn I love the Charley Davidson series! 👍🏻👍🏻 And Darynda Jones is super nice and fun. So that makes them even better in my book. (edited) 3w

I‘m really enjoying this series. There are cringey moments, but the humor is fantastic. I like the straight forward world building. I‘m switching back and forth between e and audio. If you do audio books, I highly recommend these. The performer is fantastic and really delivers on the main characters dry humor.

I‘m getting back into the series. Considering I‘ve caught up with my other series, I‘m glad I can work through this one.

Mehso-so

Is it just me or is this starting to feel like the chick version of Sons of Anarchy?? I love the idea of Charley as a character, but I felt like we‘re rolling out all the standard UF tropes to add that missing ingredient. It didn‘t work in this one. I will say, the murder mystery was the best one yet, actually taking center stage instead of a back seat. I dunno. Just kind of felt so-so on this one. Fourth book date blues?? 🤷‍♀️ 🤷‍♀️ 🤷‍♀️

wen4blu I loved the first few books, then felt like the storyline hit a slump. The last few books were better and now I'm looking forward to the conclusion. 6mo
BethM She really lost me at 9. I'm not sure I care enough to read 12 and 13. 6mo
mreads They are definitely more of the same, at some point a decent author should create an arc for the story line. 6mo

Blast! I wrote a whole long thing bout how much I still enjoy the series, then had a photo hitch and accidentally deleted the whole thing. To recap... I love these books.
