The 50th anniversary one volume addition is in my personal library.
I have loved getting back into this story and really like the pace of #LoTRChapteraDay. On to Book Two! #FellowshipofTolkien @Daisey @JazzFeathers
Yay! #FellowshipofTolkien #LotRChapteraDay I was able to catch up just now. Gandalf is back! We are safe for now as everyone rests. We meet Arwen who Strider seems to have a connection with. Bilbo is also present and they feast. @JazzFeathers @Daisey
I couldn‘t sleep so I came to read #LotRChapteraDay #FellowshipofTolkien out on the couch to deal with my heartburn in a sitting position. The cats joined me. 🥰 #CatsofLitsy Our Fellowship leaves (after Breakfast.. of course) to continue their journey. The hobbits learn more of the Black Riders from their new companion. Strider tells them a Middle Earth story, and they find themself in danger. Frodo uses the ring 😱. @Daisey @JazzFeathers
Yesterdays chapter for #LotRChapteraDay #FellowshipofTolkien we have Strider join the party. While everyone‘s not super sure he is trustworthy strider himself learns that Gandalf is a mutual friend of everyone in the fellowship. My Gandalf wanted to photobomb today. #catsoflitsy 😻🥰💛
Today in #fellowshipoftolkien #lotrchapteraday our travelers take a break from the trail to eat, and relax. However, they are still on edge that others are tailing them and Frodo goes by an alias. Some are suspicious that he is not who he says he is. @Daisey @JazzFeathers
I did read #FellowshipofTolkien yesterday #LotRingsChapteraDay I honestly don‘t remember Tom and his upbeat, always singing, character. I was surprised that Frodo without question showed him the ring. Plus was concerned after when Tom took it away from him and Frodo had to check it was the same one. I‘m not sure if Tom is a good or bad character after that. Are the hobbits trapped in another snare? @Daisey @JazzFeathers
“When Mr Bilbo Baggins of Bag End announced that he would shortly be celebrating his eleventy-first birthday with a party of special magnificence, there was much talk and excitement in Hobbiton.”

It‘s been 30+ years since I read this. After reading The Hobbit for book club a couple months ago I knew I wanted to read LOTR again and was excited to see #LoTRChapterADay posted. So I‘d like to join in. Got the forward and prologue done and looking forward to chapter 1 tomorrow. #fellowshipofTolkien @Daisey
Yay! #FellowshipofTolkien #LotRChapteraDay is back on! Today (30 minutes before midnight) I was able to read the Notes and Foreword provided in my edition. It just makes me appreciate what I‘m about to read more on how Tolkien revised A LOT to give us the best of his work. Plus the patience he must have had is commendable. Ready for the prologue tomorrow. 😊💛 @Daisey @JazzFeathers #CatsofLitsy (This is Earl. He is my nieces after being fixed)
When I was 11 or 12, my dad gifted me a single volume edition of the Lord of the Rings, illustrated by Alan Lee.
And I‘ve read it almost every year since then.

How to ruin something you enjoy 101:
#ipreview via @preview.app
Take something you enjoy casually and don‘t overthink, then use it as the basis of an assignment.
Bonus points if you don‘t quite get the assignment and it‘s a video presentation.
That is all.

1. Yes, Terry Pratchett
2. No, I don't think so but I have done it deliberately
3. Middle-earth
We have decided to keep two cats from the litter we found. I‘ve been missing my cat who crossed the rainbow bridge a few months ago. Gandalf has been cuddling me a lot while reading the past week and a half. I may have begged for him. 🙏🏼🥺😂💛 #catsoflitsy

I can identify with the hobbits, specifically with Frodo and Sam. In the beginning of the book Frodo really doesn't want to go to Mordor and he's frustrated that fate put the Ring in his hands. He just wants to stay home, eat food and be happy, not go on some adventure. I can relate to wanting to just stay home and chill, but having something unpleasant in your life that's out of your control and prevents you from just enjoying yourself.
Check out this awesome Gandalf cosplay! They were nice enough to pose with our copy of LotR for social media. 💜💜

Got the new Lord of the Rings Adventure Book Game and it's so much fun! We only got to chapter 3, because you know...we had to be responsible adults and get ready for bed so we can go to work tomorrow.
This is one of my sister's cabins. You can pretend you are in Hobbiton.

Me: I need to be really careful with money until I'm sure I've got some work lined up... this is going to mean that I can only make purchases that are absolutely necessary...

I have this lovely 50th anniversary edition of The Lord of the Rings on my bookshelves.
I just feel like I‘ve walked a really long way for a reason… you know?
The Lord of the Rings, reread after 10 years. Savored this book over the month of January and didn‘t want it to end. It was a much more emotional read for me this time, all around.
I joked to a friend that Jacinda Ardern definitely deserves Second Breakfast for her accomplishments & humility (a rarity in politics), although on reflection I'm thinking Elevenses would be better as brunch > breakfast/lunch...🤔
Many years ago my son and I read this together alternating between by the fireside and being wrapped up in blankets outside on winter nights.
My “big book” for 2023 with my mom is Tolkien‘s trilogy, which I‘ve never read. I loved The Hobbit, which we read together a few years ago. It‘s such a cultural touchstone and I‘m late, but finally coming to the party, by way of this decrepit set my library gave away.
Today‘s gift 🎁 Woot! Doing a reread in January ❄️

Today it‘s National Christmas Movie Marathon Day. So for today‘s Daily Challenge post any combination of your Favourite Christmas Movie, your favourite book to movie or the book(s) that should be made into movies.
For me it still takes a lot to beat It‘s A Wonderful Life 😢😭, loved the Lord of the Rings Films, and think the Ben Hope Series by Scott Mariani would be great films.
*starts humming Rudolph the red nose reindeer*
Not me immediately hitting YouTube to watch Aragon make his entrance at Helm‘s Deep
For the obvious reason 😍 I had an elf-crush back then 😅
