This is so freaking funny. But maybe not quite as funny as the first one. Definitely do the audio.

One of my friends had to stop reading this because he couldn't take all of the racism. As in, we live in Boston so being reminded of how gross this is was a bit much. And the homophobia. Because this was set in the 70s, you'd hope it was better but Boston is pretty well known for this situation. If you liked Mystic River, and you can get through the halfway point, this really is very well written.

I cannot even with this book. It's never going to end....
This is a good mystery. It is not my favorite Lucy Foley and I do not need all of the French swear words and phrases translated (please. Google exists.) Otherwise this is quite great.

Joan Didion was very sad and lonely when she wrote this. But her writing is so beautiful.

Catching up on my #ChloeGongReadAlong book. 💕💕💕💕
This is what I love about travel days.
I loved this. It's freaking adorable. I got about halfway and couldn't stop.
First travel book complete. 🛫 Haven't even made it on the plane yet.

This is just a straightforward mystery. It's good but 🤷. People kept recommending this to me when it came out and I now have no idea why. But good mystery.

I appreciate what the author was trying to do here, but it just wasn't my jam. Also the narrator on the audiobook struggles with pronouncing foreign words (esp French) so that was distracting....
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
#LitsyCrafters @Catsandbooks Better to show you, right?
A coworker asked if I knew how to sew. I showed him this.
Set in Thailand. Loosely tied together short stories with recurring characters. This took a while to read but it was me. I'm the problem. Some of the characters and their stories are more compelling than others.

This was very good. It's really historical fiction with dual timelines that also happens to have a djinn and some ghosts. I thought it was really well executed.

2 of my group reads are doorstops and I'm going to Florida on Tuesday and my mum is coming later in the month so this might just be wishful thinking. We'll see what happens. 😂
I still have no idea if I liked this. The narrator is caring for a depressed Great Dane while dealing with her friend's suicide. Basically. It is full of literary references. Many about dogs.
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
This is pretty dark. It is dripping in metaphor. Mostly it talks about living in the aftermath of the Korean War. It's sort of haunting but I wouldn't necessarily call it horror.

Reading this book in public was problematic. It's very tense and emotional. I highly recommend it.
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
I thought this was brilliant. Even and maybe especially the ending.

This is very cute. Discussion Sunday.

This is very good. It's basically about mourning a parent. Or I guess mourning in general. The writing is lovely.
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
This is beautiful historical fiction told around the life of a famous Turkish architect in Istanbul. The writing is beautiful. The apprentice in the title happens to also be a mahmout in charge of a white elephant. Obviously. Unfortunately I think it needed to be shorter. Just imo.
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
This is YA horror by an author I like a lot. The weeping statue on the cover made this a must read.

I feel compelled to read this series over from the beginning. Because I feel like I missed something here. This is book 7. I love Murderbot but this was less than the others imo.

Think Nickel Boys + ghosts. It's actually really clever what the author does with this. I recommend this for sure. This was my November Aardvark pick.

My favorite part about this book are the snarky side comments from the author about the environment and feminist topics. It's really very good.

#AuthorAMonth @Soubhiville (I actually meant to just read 1 per month but I thoroughly enjoyed this extra one)
This has a couple of really interesting articles especially one about the importance of one on one meetings. Giving the whole thing a pick.
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
This author has a great imagination. This is short stories. It's like fairy tale horror with humor. Which I appreciate.

I really like these. Let's hope she writes more of them before I get distracted (lose interest).

This was very good. It happened to be available. I may be reading too many short story collections in a row. But this was available at the library so 🤷.

It's possible I'm on an Atwood kick lately. To the point where my brain sort of expects all books to meet her level of awesome. Totally unrealistic but there you have it. Bar firmly set.

Highly recommend. Also, Nightcrawling was fantastic.

This is about timing. Best, most productive times of the day. Why it's better not to graduate during a recession (😂 duh) etc. I found it very interesting. It also justified my inability to get things done in the afternoon when I get up at 5. Explained? Whatever.
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
I don't care how foolish this is. I love this series. And this is the sixth (and final?) book. There are definitely gators in this but they may not be on leashes.
This was so good. Nearly 5⭐ except the ending is too long. That's just my opinion. I definitely did not need a wrap up that included all of the secondary characters. It's possible I was being moody.
This book is amazing. Not sure I was in the head space for something that punches you in the gut in the first section but that does not make this less amazing. The author has a unique narrative style that I appreciate.
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks (it's possible that I am behind and this was a January book)
I loved this. The author may be going on my must read list.
