You WANT to read this book.

REVIEW JUNE 11.

Double lives? cheating husbands? money flowing perhaps in the wrong direction? twists, and surprises will greet the reader in THE FIRST MISTAKE.

A bit slow at first, but the suspense and surprising events are non-stop as you continue reading.

Master sleuths will love this book, but you may be stumped. 4/5

I just finished thIs well-researched, heart wrenching historical fiction book.

FULL REVIEW 6/10.

As ASHES begins, we meet and follow Meyer and his family through their horror in Kishinev and then their travel to and their struggles in New York.

ASHES is bit depressing because of the sorrow and historical events, but the characters are personable and lovable and Ms. Friedman's writing style is marvelous and pull-you-in.

Tissues needed. 4/5

From San Francisco 1876 to present day, we learn of the plight of the poor, the privilege of the wealthy, and secrets of a family that connect both eras.

THE SEVEN OR EIGHT DEATHS OF STELLA FORTUNA tells the tale of the lives of the author's family and specifically Stella and Tina who were the best of friends as they grew up in Italy and as they aged in America until the final accident happened.

The writing in this book is beautiful, descriptive, and an outstanding debut.

Marvelous, magnificent, original, and impressive are some adjectives to describe this book.
