I read The Great Gatsby in high school, and I enjoyed it. But that‘s been a while ago, so I decided it was time for a reread. Surprisingly enough my thoughts are still similar to the thoughts I had in high school. I still enjoyed it I just wish there was more character development. Plus, I‘d love to hear Gatsby‘s full back story.

Another reread, this time in audio. It was an interesting experience as hearing Daisy‘s speech inflections made her a more interesting character then when I just read the novel to myself.

Fitzgerald is amazing to listen to as an audio book, his sophisticated use of imagery and rhythm create poetic flow. The great Gatsby, uses this poetic devices when describing gatsbys enchanting parties which makes the novel immensely engaging. This novel compares to others of Fitzgerald, has a romanticised notion of ALL women, compared to that of the beautiful and the burdened that juxtaposes women against each other. It was a fun read. 4/5

Hello fellow littens!
I haven't posted in, well... quite some time. Two years to be precise. I don't know what came up to me today but here I am, wanting to pop in and say hi. Hope everyone's safe in this difficult time.
Oh, by the way, I re-read The Great Gatsby (which I didn't love the first time around), and really loved it this time.
Sleep tight! Bye

wordslinger42 Nice to have you back!! The Great Gatsby used to be a favorite of mine, but I haven't read it in a long time! 1y
Lucy_Anywhere Welcome back! 1y
paulfrankspencer It is a joy to see you back! And I reread Gatsby recently; loved it as much as always, and it's so short it's an easy one to revisit. 1y
AmyG Welcome back. Hope you are well. 1y

A year ago my work friends and I coped with the world ending by blogging our reread of Pride and Prejudice. We had a blast and decided to make it an annual tradition. This year we are doing The Great Gatsby, and are hoping to get some more student involvement 😊

peanutnine I've been meaning to reread this one! 1y

I've read this book numerous times, and yet i still despise all the characters! That may be the whole point of the story! Pretty cover though!

The spoils from my building‘s Book Exchange from last wk & some of my b‘day hamper from my sister that arrived yesterday a wk early. So much food & the most beautiful wine. These are the type of things that make social distancing fun. I didn‘t realise that Eve Babitz had slept with Jimbo from The Doors, I‘ve watched the movie Perfume but haven‘t read the book! It‘s a great movie, the tagged book is one of my favs. I also enjoyed the latest movie.

Former debutante Zelda and millionaire Gatz are the epitome of #cosmopolitanmc, if that implies the excess, decadence, idealism, and wealth of the “roaring ‘20s”. F. Scott Fitzgerald‘s The Great Gatsby follows a cast of characters living on prosperous Long Island in the summer of 1922.

#newyearnewyou

MissAimz_55 What is a cosmopolitan mc? 2y
Eggs Cosmopolitan Main Character @MissAimz_55 😊 2y
MissAimz_55 So a main character that is “a citizen of the world?” 2y
Eggs Yes. A person who is at home all over the world, someone who is widely travelled, is familiar with a variety of cultures and types of people and customs and ways of life. A smart, sophisticated, worldly, worldly-wise person: suave, urbane, civilized, cultivated, cultured, polished, refined. @MissAimz_55 2y
