Ruin and Rising
Ruin and Rising | Leigh Bardugo
The capital has fallen. The Darkling rules Ravka from his shadow throne. Now the nation's fate rests with a broken Sun Summoner, a disgraced tracker, and the shattered remnants of a once-great magical army. Deep in an ancient network of tunnels and caverns, a weakened Alina must submit to the dubious protection of the Apparat and the zealots who worship her as a Saint. Yet her plans lie elsewhere, with the hunt for the elusive firebird and the hope that an outlaw prince still survives. Alina will have to forge new alliances and put aside old rivalries as she and Mal race to find the last of Morozova's amplifiers. But as she begins to unravel the Darkling's secrets, she reveals a past that will forever alter her understanding of the bond they share and the power she wields. The firebird is the one thing that stands between Ravka and destructionand claiming it could cost Alina the very future she's fighting for. Ruin and Rising is the thrilling final installment in Leigh Bardugo's Grisha Trilogy.

Woohoo! Even with a chaotic week, my total points for week 4 of #scarathlon for #teamslaughter come to 5,210! I'm pretty proud of that, even if I didn't get to read as many spooky books as I wanted - the spooky season will just be continuing into November for me! (Along with fantasies, MG, and nonfiction)

Thanks to @Clwojick for being an awesome team leader! See you all for #wintergames

rjsthumbelina If my math is right (a big 'if' bc it's 1:15am after the most stressful day I've had since my son was born), my total points for the entire #scarathlon were 11,225! 1mo

A diverting YA romp. No one needs a review of the third book in the series really. This delivered a suitably dramatic, fast-paced conclusion to a fun wee series. It‘s not super original, but it‘s a great escape from the real world.

I loved almost everything about this book. What I find most interesting is that there are parts that I would consider the book to be almost horror, which I somehow didn't expect going in to the series.

For the most part, this was my favorite book in this trilogy. The stakes were higher, most of the characters got more depth, and because the world-building was all done in the first book, this one could be completely plot driven. However, the ending felt like kind of a cop-out. I might be in the minority with that opinion, but it just seemed a bit forced.

It‘s more in between so-so and pick, I liked this one better than the second, and the first is still the best IMO. The ending was too neat for me.
Super excited to read Six of Crows though!

I loved the ending of this trilogy. Well thought out and planned. The final battle between the darkling and the sun summoner has ended and there may be a few surprises for you. Now I‘m going to have to hunt up the other Grisha books!

Another book that I read in a matter of days! This series is so well put together and the author definitely has a great variety of plot twists in store. Not only that, but it was so easy to relate to the different characters.

One word…mind blowing. So many things (maybe this author is really good at multitasking cuz I don‘t have her focus lol) happen at once, it‘s hard to focus on one thing at a time. I constantly had to go back and reread a few chapters but even so I couldn‘t put the book down. It was too good!

What an amazing end to the trilogy. I was amazed when I thought back to all the foreshadowing throughout the whole series. Everything makes sense now. The series is complete, everything was wrapped up neatly at the end, I don't think there could have been a more satisfying end to the story.

Am happy to know that there are more books from this universe because it is one that sticks with you and draws you in. It's truly a well-written world.

Why did I wait so long to read this trilogy?! I loved it! I couldn‘t put this series down. Not quite sure how I feel about the ending though. I have very mixed emotions. But if you ask me how I wanted it to end, I couldn‘t tell you! 😂 Maybe because the adventure was so epic, the ending just felt a little blah to me.

After a somewhat disappointing (to me) book #2, this last installment restored my faith in the trilogy. It wasn‘t perfect, but it did include a few surprises and a satisfying ending. I want to watch the series adaptation, but I think I‘ll read the Six of Crows duology first.

Third book in the trilogy. For me this was the best one in the trilogy. A lot of action and twists. I‘m still wait to read the other 2 books before I watch the tv adaptation. As a YA fantasy this could have 3.9/4⭐️I‘m reading this series in an informal bookclub called The Forgotten BookClub. They concurred that this one was the best in the trilogy.

I could not believe my eyes when it said Mal was the last amplifier! I mean it was a bigger plot twist than the Darkling reveling that he was, in fact, there with Alina when she had visions of him! I don't know what's gonna happen next! I would easily believe if Alina lost her power or something! Although I hope that doesn't happen *fingers crossed*!!! I really hope that Alina would end up with Nikolai. I like him better than Mal!!!

Love love loved this trilogy. I know many ppl have their ships and would have preferred Alina to end up with Alexander or Nikolai but personally I don‘t see the love interest to be such a big deal. The fact that she ended up with mal showed comfort and the fact that she returned to where she started but as a different person. I felt like it wrapped up beautifully but then again that‘s just my personal opinion.

I found Ruin and Rising to be the most well-written of the trilogy. If you‘ve read my other reviews, you know I haven‘t been a big fan of this series. I found it slowly paced and, worse, the main characters–Alina and Mal–to be plain annoying. Yet in this third book there was definitely growth and redemption. I loved seeing depth to the side characters more, too. We learn more about those who stayed with Alina.

I was wondering how the series will end but the writer did a great job. Although the universe of the book is it's greatest appeal but it has enough twist and turns to keep you hooked. It has some amazing action sequences. This book is thoroughly enjoyable and has a great reread value.
Will definitely read the rest of the books set in this universe!!!

I love everything about this series, the world the folklore, the action. I am so glad that I keep finding such whimsical worlds. Last year it was Harry Potter (yes, I know its late but better late than never, right?) and now this. Even though i haven't finished the series or read all the books in this universe,I would immensely recommend you read it and loose yourself in this world!!!
Also would request for more such suggestions!!

I am so emotionally invested in the characters. God. I have read a fantasy series, especially a series book after ages. Literally years and I don't regret choosing this series because God, the characters, all of them are just so good. They all have faults, have desires and darkness and all of them are so human. I loved reading this and definitely recommend it.

This book had a strong beginning, again (in my opinion) the middle dragged, and the end was just baffling. Now after listening to all 3 books my favorite character was Zoya Nazyalensky. I thought Alina was good, but she was just really getting on my nerves and poor Mal. Then why did they have to get rid of Nikolai like that. Dang, they didn't have to bring him back🤦🏾
