I borrowed the audiobook from my library and it took me a while to start enjoying it, almost 50%. But once I got to that point I was invested and interested in seeing how it all worked out. I liked following along with Ernest on his journey to figure out whodunnit. His approach to the mystery as a writer felt refreshing. The ending took me completely by surprise! 3.5⭐️

Another book that I‘d like to reread. I feel like I remember the movie more vividly than the book and yet I can‘t entirely recall the ending. Now that Apple has released a new version, I want to reread before watching.

This retelling of the Trojan War through the POVs of the female characters was riveting & entertaining. While this version of events didn't delve deeply into all of the female MC's stories, it did touch on a number of characters that I don't remember coming across before (e.g. Penthesilea). My favourite was Penelope, ever suffering wife of the absent Odysseus. Her letters to her wandering husband were inspired. 5/5⭐️

The way the author entwined all the threads of the various characters was quite remarkable. Nearing the end of the book, I audibly gasped when one of the connections was revealed. It ended up becoming a kind of mystery, one that I really wanted to figure out and highly enjoyed. 5/5⭐️

I read this mystery earlier this month and really enjoyed it! It was a smart police procedural that didn‘t dwell heavily on the violent bits but provided enough detail to convey how tragic and horrible the crimes were. It kept me guessing right to the end! Adam Lazarre-White excelled as the audiobook narrator. Glad I read this for June‘s #AuthorAMonth pick! 5/5⭐️

Thank goodness for audiobooks! I started reading the physical book in September but didn‘t really connect with it & ended up moving on to other books. But I really wanted to finish it so borrowed the audio from my library. Done in 4 days! I really enjoyed this complex story where nothing is clear & even when decisions are made, you find yourself asking if the outcome was right. This will keep me thinking for a while. 4/5⭐️

I enjoyed this quick, suspenseful read. The story developed at a good pace and the characters were intriguing. I actually thought the ending would be more sinister, but perhaps I‘ve just read too many suspense novels and I‘m prone to thinking the worst! Although somewhat predictable, I liked the ending and the various twists. Just when I thought I had it all worked out, turns out I didn‘t! 3.5⭐️

Wow, reviewing this list of movies brought back so many memories! I did this challenge with my hubby since he has a better memory for these things than I do. 😅 We still watch some of these periodically & they never get old. Favourites in no particular order are Ferris Bueller‘s Day Off, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Die Hard (DEFINITELY a Christmas movie 😂), & Back to the Future. This book was so quietly relatable with so many life lessons brought to the fore... never give up on your dreams, you're never too old to learn/try something new, we are all linked together in some way even though that's not always apparent, etc. 5 people are highlighted, each with their own unique life & challenges. All are linked through the librarian, Ms. Komachi, who helps each find their way. Loved this! 5/5⭐️

And that‘s a wrap on this series! I so enjoyed watching the Penderwick kids grow up. The last 2 books were told from the POVs of the youngest sisters. While I enjoyed them, I think I enjoyed the first few books more because they felt like more of an ensemble. Having said that, these were all fun books. Listening to the audiobooks was particularly satisfying as the narrator was quite talented. I‘m sad to say goodbye…🥹 3.5⭐️

This graphic novel was so fun! The artwork was fantastic. Loved how the author incorporated bits of her and her wife‘s lives into the story. A bit cheesy (see what I did there?) but made me smile a lot which is just what I needed at the moment. 5/5⭐️

I finally had a chance to tally up my 2023 reads and update my Goodreads list. I‘m quite happy with the end result although I‘d have preferred that I‘d stuck with my goal of reading mostly my own books. There‘s just so many good ones at my library!😅 I‘m going to try to make more of a dent in my TBR this year. And I‘ve upped my GR goal from 60 to 75 books. 🤞🏽Hope everyone has an amazing reading year in 2024!💜

I'm so enjoying this series! I've already got the 3rd on hold at my library (please, book gods, let it be available soon!). I've been reading the audiobooks & the narrator, Susan Denaker, does a great job of capturing the voices of the various characters. These books are so engaging & wholesome. This one was the perfect read for this time of year since it takes place during autumn. Such a delight! 4⭐️

Holy cow this was one great book! Jane Entwistle‘s narration was spot on and added much enjoyment to my reading. The story itself was captivating. Nearing the end of it, it almost felt like a history lesson of sorts, a history of Norse mythology. There was just so much detail that the author covered. Really well done and I highly recommend the audiobook. Looking forward to the #LiteraryCrew #BuddyRead discussion at the end of the month! 5/5⭐️
