Have y‘all heard about Bookriot‘s Tailored Book Recommendations? They‘ll select books based on your preferences and Goodreads profile. After filling out a questionnaire and doing some research, they made these 3 suggestions, none of which I‘d come across before! I love being introduced to new authors and books. Thanks for this awesome bday gift @UwannaPublishme it was the perfect gift for this bibliophile!😘

This is the first ever Steinbeck book I've read, which surprises me given how much reading I've done in my life! You'd think I would have read at least one of his books during my formative years, but nope. I listened to the audiobook and it was a quick read. It reminded me of a book I read last year, tagged below. Same setting, similar themes and outcome. 3/5⭐️I‘m looking forward to reading more Steinbeck in future! #authoramonth

This was a fun adventure about a young man who bonded with a horse. I enjoyed it throughout! The lead-up to the race and the race itself made the book for me. I thought the "live coverage" of the tv/radio commentator was really well-written. And, of course, the ending was just as a reader would want it to end. I think this story would appeal to any kid, no matter how old. #ChildrensClassicRead2023 4/5⭐️

Well, it took me about 7 months, but I FINALLY finished this book! Not sure why it took me so long. I found this to be highly readable and very interesting. Learned a lot about the start of the NACA/NASA and the women that contributed so much to make it all successful. Now to watch the movie! 5/5⭐️

I've long believed in the strong connection between mind and body, that if you're stressed, unhappy, anxious, or in a negative headspace, that it can detrimentally affect your body. This book confirmed all of my theories and it did so using anecdotal and scientific evidence. I read the audiobook version but plan to purchase a physical copy so that I can reread some sections in order to more fully absorb the material. 5/5 ⭐️

😬 I‘m a bit late with my review for this book (it was my #authoramonth February pick). This is the first book I've read by TJR. I'm not sure what I was expecting, a mystery or something nefarious. But this wasn't any of that. It was a love story of sorts. There's no right or wrong here, just a review of relationships, how they change over time as people change. 3/5⭐️

So, I went down a rabbit hole yesterday. Not for the first time, I came across this list. But there‘s still soooo many! Ah well, it‘ll be a lifetime project and a labour of love. 💜😉📚

Just realized that I haven‘t reviewed this one yet! It was my last book read in January and it was a good one. Whatever kind of ending I was expecting was NOT that! Nor did I realize that this would be a mystery. Actually, there were a bunch of mysteries unearthed. The author did a great job filling in the gaps of this puzzle. I'm still pondering all of the threads and connections! 4/5⭐️

I really enjoyed listening to this Audible story/podcast. Set in the Canadian fictional town of Fletcher's Grove, the stories caught my attention & imagination immediately. The full-cast ensemble was great & the production was equally impressive. I read this for the "spooky season" and quite enjoyed it! Definitely a retelling of Jekyll and Hyde and seemed quite gothic to me. The ensemble cast of narrators was great, it felt like one of those old timey radio dramas and was well done. Not a long read, but an entertaining one! Side note: does anyone else get peeved about how Goodreads does a page count on audiobooks? This one clocked in at 3 pages!?

tpixie Ha! I‘ve never noticed the audiobooks info on Goodreads! I just search the book. Didn‘t know they showed audio! But 3 pages?! 7mo

I don't recall ever reading this children's classic & I'm glad that I finally did! It's a feel good story that isn't complicated or sad, even though bad things happen. The children are generally unaware of what their parents are enduring. So they make the best of their changed situation. Sure, there are some problematic stereotypes, but for a book written in 1905, it was progressive for it‘s time. #ChildrensClassicRead2022

As this book was July‘s pick for the #LiteraryCrew #BuddyRead, I‘m a bit late with my review. ? But I just HAD to post about this one. It was so good! The narrators were excellent and the story absorbing. The author captured antebellum South Carolina in vivid detail. Real-life sisters Sarah and Angelina (Nina) Grimké were her inspiration. They worked tirelessly to end slavery and improve women‘s rights. A compelling read.

I have had this book on my TBR for decades! The true-crime story was intriguing, if written in a bit of a pedestrian manner. Still, it held my interest. On the last day of the month, I finished reading January‘s #ChildrensClassicRead2022! As with other classic fairytales (think Grimm‘s), there are many lessons that are learned at a heavy cost. Not fun and I‘m glad I didn‘t read this as a kid!😅 But I‘m glad I read it now. Thanks for this pick @TheBookHippie 👍🏽 3/5⭐️ #SerialReader

Sweet story! I thought the author captured the growing pains of young relationships well. I have to say tho, these 16/17 YOs are WAY more put together than I was at that age. Yes, they‘re grappling with a lot of stuff, but they‘re much more mature about it than I was. Maybe it would have been more appropriate if the characters were in college? At any rate, it still works and I enjoyed this story a lot. 4/5⭐️

PurpleyPumpkin @UwannaPublishme 🥰 I might read her next book that‘s coming out soon. But also with a MC that‘s 16, so I‘m on the fence about it. 🤔 (edited) 1y

The Bean Trees | Barbara Kingsolver

Enjoyed a cozy day of reading yesterday and was able to finish my first Kingsolver book. Let me tell ya, it won‘t be my last! Loved the themes of finding your own family, strong women making a life with the help of each other, & mother/daughter relationships. There was a lot going on, but at its heart, this was a very tender story. 4/5⭐️

My last holiday book for this Christmas! I thoroughly enjoyed my journey back to Fethering. But I think a closer edit of the writing was in order. Still, this was a fun whodunnit. I really enjoy the relationship between the MCs, Carole & Jude. They are complete opposites, and yet they work seamlessly together. It truly was like visiting old friends. 3.5/5⭐️

PurpleyPumpkin @DannyDan You know, I‘m not sure! It‘s painted metal and reminds me of the Christmas trees in Whoville.🎄 1y

I read this book in December due to its Christmas theme. But it‘s a classic whodunnit that could be read at any time of year. An enjoyable English mystery that had me guessing until the end! 3.5/5⭐️

Is there any better way to begin a story than with the phrase “Once upon a time?” I love stories that begin like that and this one was no exception. Add the brilliant artwork and reading this book was a wonderful way to start my year! I was meant to read it in December for the #ChildrensClassicRead2021, but I wound up late to the party. Better late than never! 5/5⭐️

Although I wasn‘t enamoured with Jack and felt Laurie was too good for him, I was drawn in by the story of star-crossed lovers. Spanning close to a decade, the story follows both MCs through their romantic ups and downs. It starts and ends during Christmas, hence why I chose it for my holiday reading. 3.5⭐️

A very cute romcom with a slow burn that leads to romance. I listened to the audiobook and loved the narration of Stacy Gonzalez. She captured all the accents and characters beautifully! 3.5⭐️

Historical novels are one of my fav genres so this book was right up my alley. The story revolves around two families, their various intrigues, and the things that unite them. As I got deeper into the book, I had a harder time putting it down. I needed to find out what was going to happen! And I wasn‘t disappointed. 5/5⭐️

My thanks to @Librarybelle for providing the motivation I needed to finally read this book!
