Thank goodness for audiobooks! I started reading the physical book in September but didn‘t really connect with it & ended up moving on to other books. But I really wanted to finish it so borrowed the audio from my library. Done in 4 days! I really enjoyed this complex story where nothing is clear & even when decisions are made, you find yourself asking if the outcome was right. This will keep me thinking for a while. 4/5⭐️

I enjoyed this quick, suspenseful read. The story developed at a good pace and the characters were intriguing. I actually thought the ending would be more sinister, but perhaps I‘ve just read too many suspense novels and I‘m prone to thinking the worst! Although somewhat predictable, I liked the ending and the various twists. Just when I thought I had it all worked out, turns out I didn‘t! 3.5⭐️

Wow, reviewing this list of movies brought back so many memories! I did this challenge with my hubby since he has a better memory for these things than I do. 😅 We still watch some of these periodically & they never get old. Favourites in no particular order are Ferris Bueller‘s Day Off, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Die Hard (DEFINITELY a Christmas movie 😂), & Back to the Future. This book was so quietly relatable with so many life lessons brought to the fore... never give up on your dreams, you're never too old to learn/try something new, we are all linked together in some way even though that's not always apparent, etc. 5 people are highlighted, each with their own unique life & challenges. All are linked through the librarian, Ms. Komachi, who helps each find their way. Loved this! 5/5⭐️

And that‘s a wrap on this series! I so enjoyed watching the Penderwick kids grow up. The last 2 books were told from the POVs of the youngest sisters. While I enjoyed them, I think I enjoyed the first few books more because they felt like more of an ensemble. Having said that, these were all fun books. Listening to the audiobooks was particularly satisfying as the narrator was quite talented. I‘m sad to say goodbye…🥹 3.5⭐️

marleed You could apply my theory to library loans… I few years back I saw a breakdown on my taxes and I think it was $245 went toward my public library. So let‘s say I can get new books at a discounted $15. That means I need to read 16 books to nullify my tax cost. Same theory after 16+, I start subtracting $15 from my tax bill for each book read! …So, now it‘s totally justified when I hit my library TBR over my physical TBR! 5mo
PurpleyPumpkin @marleed That‘s a fantastic approach! Looking at it this way, I HAVE to use the library for at least some of my yearly reading. I like it! Thanks so much for sharing!🙌🏽 5mo
marleed @PurpleyPumpkin Absolutely, I don‘t consider my library use as free until I‘ve surpassed 16 loans. Then I still don‘t think of it as free so much as making tax dollars work to my advantage. 5mo

Holy cow this was one great book! Jane Entwistle‘s narration was spot on and added much enjoyment to my reading. The story itself was captivating. Is there ever a lot of hype about this book! It‘s deserving as it‘s very well-written and engaging. But as other reviewers have mentioned , it‘s somewhat predictable and aspects of the ending were a little too pat for me. This novel deals with some important issues and I‘m glad I read it. Ahh, it was wonderful being back in this world again! While the story lacked the depth of the novels, which stands to reason as it's a play, I did enjoy this follow-up with HP & crew as grownups, raising their own children. I also liked the use of the time-turner & enjoyed how the plot took the reader back in time & illustrated how changes in time affected the present-day world. Word of advice, read before you see the play! 4/5⭐️

This was a lovely book with which to start the summer. A collection of short stories of a family‘s time spent at a summer cottage in Finland. The relationship between Sophia and her grandmother was rendered with grace and love. I thought the "live coverage" of the tv/radio commentator was really well-written. And, of course, the ending was just as a reader would want it to end. I think this story would appeal to any kid, no matter how old. #ChildrensClassicRead2023 4/5⭐️

Well, it took me about 7 months, but I FINALLY finished this book! Not sure why it took me so long. I found this to be highly readable and very interesting. Learned a lot about the start of the NACA/NASA and the women that contributed so much to make it all successful. Now to watch the movie! 5/5⭐️

UwannaPublishme Yay! Another one off your TBR! I loved the movie, but for some reason could not get into the book. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 1y
PurpleyPumpkin @UwannaPublishme I‘ve heard the movie was good! I enjoyed the book when I read it, but seemed to have a hard time getting back to it! Glad I stuck with it and glad it‘s off my TBR. 😅 1y

I've long believed in the strong connection between mind and body, that if you're stressed, unhappy, anxious, or in a negative headspace, that it can detrimentally affect your body. This book confirmed all of my theories and it did so using anecdotal and scientific evidence. I read the audiobook version but plan to purchase a physical copy so that I can reread some sections in order to more fully absorb the material. 5/5 ⭐️

😬 I‘m a bit late with my review for this book (it was my #authoramonth February pick). This is the first book I've read by TJR. I'm not sure what I was expecting, a mystery or something nefarious. But this wasn't any of that. It was a love story of sorts. There's no right or wrong here, just a review of relationships, how they change over time as people change. 3/5⭐️

UwannaPublishme It‘s fascinating how all of her books are so different. But I‘ve loved the two I read. And I know I‘ll read more. 1y
PurpleyPumpkin @UwannaPublishme I definitely want to read more of her books. I enjoyed this one but kept wondering if one of the characters was up to something. It kind of threw me off. 🤷🏽‍♀️ (edited) 1y

Started reading February‘s pick for the #LiteraryCrew #BuddyRead today while enjoying a vanilla matcha latte. It‘s an interesting story so far! Hoping to finish before the end of the month. 😅

I had some time this morning to sit down and read this month‘s #ChildrensClassicRead2023 pick. This simple tale with the fun artwork brought back so many fond memories. Thanks @TheBookHippie for providing all the added reading and opening my eyes to other interpretations of this book. 3/5⭐️

So, I went down a rabbit hole yesterday. Not for the first time, I came across this list. This time around, I decided to add this list to my book challenges spreadsheet as well as tag any books that I‘ve read using Goodreads. Surprisingly, I‘ve read more than I expected! But there‘s still soooo many! Ah well, it‘ll be a lifetime project and a labour of love. 💜😉📚
(February 18, 2023)

UwannaPublishme Dare I look at this list? Of course I will. Us avid readers love lists like this! And that means many more to add to my TBR pile. 🤦🏻‍♀️ 1y
PurpleyPumpkin @UwannaPublishme It‘s a great list but yes, it will likely add to your TBR. 📚 Fair warning, the list actually contains 1,300+ titles due to various revisions over the years! We‘ll get there together!😅👍🏽 1y
UwannaPublishme Oh my! 😳 At least we‘re making a little progress. 😄 1y

Just realized that I haven‘t reviewed this one yet! It was my last book read in January and it was a good one. Whatever kind of ending I was expecting was NOT that! Nor did I realize that this would be a mystery. Actually, there were a bunch of mysteries unearthed. The author did a great job filling in the gaps of this puzzle. I'm still pondering all of the threads and connections! 4/5⭐️

Such a sad story but so compelling. The descriptions of emotions and how each character dealt with their own tragedies and challenges was really well-written. 4/5⭐️ #authoramonth

I really enjoyed listening to this Audible story/podcast. Set in the Canadian fictional town of Fletcher's Grove, the stories caught my attention & imagination immediately. The full-cast ensemble was great & the production was equally impressive. It reminded me of those old timey radio shows/plays with all the sound effects that made me feel like I was actually in the story. Well worth listening to & not just at Christmas. 4/5⭐️

UwannaPublishme Hope you‘re doing well and enjoying a little warmer weather over there! I need to check out more of these Audible Originals. 1y
PurpleyPumpkin @UwannaPublishme Hello my friend 👋🏽 Sadly, no warm weather here, not even sun! And it‘s been snowing on and off for almost a week. Not sure when it‘s ending. 😅It‘s very pretty but not fun to drive in. Yes, there‘s lots more Audible Originals that I want to check out as well! So much to read, so little time. I need to retire! Hope all is well with you. 💜 (edited) 1y
UwannaPublishme Oh my! Stay warm, my friend. I‘m now appreciating our chilly 60 degrees here.😉 I‘m counting the days till summer already. Maybe we need to bury ourselves in a beach read!😁🏖️ 1y

Just finished listening to this Christmas story which was a perfect read for the holidays. This book is the second in the series but I don‘t think it‘s an issue to read them out of order as I did. I enjoyed the mix of fable and history. 3/5⭐️

Happily, I surpassed my GR goal of reading 60 books in 2022. For 2023, I‘m hoping to read 60 books again, with a chunkster or two in there. I‘m also not doing as many challenges but rather focussing on reading books I already own. It‘s time to make a dent in my voluminous TBR stack! Wishing you all a wonderful reading year in 2023! 📚
(January 1, 2023)

MaleficentBookDragon I agree. Have you signed up for the GR Mount TBR Challenge 2023? It‘s for knocking books off your owned stack. 1y
PurpleyPumpkin @MaleficentBookDragon I have! That challenge is going to be my main focus this year. Thanks for mentioning it!😉 1y

UwannaPublishme Yay for you! My goal was 50 and I wound up reading 62. I see we both had a great year. 👍🏻 I‘ll have to check out the Mt TBR challenge. 1y
PurpleyPumpkin @UwannaPublishme Yay for you too! Yes, do check out Mt TBR. It‘s a low key challenge that helps to keep me focussed!😅 1y
UwannaPublishme I just signed up! Thx for the idea. Thought I‘d start with Pike‘s Peak. How about you? 1y
PurpleyPumpkin @UwannaPublishme 🙌🏽 I‘m climbing Mt Vancouver. At 24 books, I didn‘t summit last year. But I did summit in 2021! Here‘s hoping I make it again this year.🤞🏽 (edited) 1y

PurpleyPumpkin @ShelleyBooksie @AlaMich First year I tried this book/reading bracket and I think I‘ll do it again! It was fun reviewing my reads of the year. 1y
PurpleyPumpkin @Deblovestoread 👍🏽It really was a fantastic book. 1y
ShelleyBooksie How did you narrow it.down to 2 books per month? 1y
PurpleyPumpkin @ShelleyBooksie I picked my favourite book each month and then picked my favourite between two months and narrowed it down that way. I have to say that it could have been tricky picking just one fav each month. But, it ended up being easier than I anticipated! 1y
