#WithTheBanned Once again, I am only tagging everyone in the first question. We‘ll have 4 questions total.
This dystopian novel has become extra popular again because it was written in 1993 and is set in 2024-2027. Kinda like when I read 1984 (written in 1948) in 1986. This was a downer of a read and I ended up taking several weeks off at the midway point. It does provide some moments of hope and the MC is a likable heroine I readily cheered on.
My intermission made me fall WAY behind the #WithTheBanned BR hosted by @Jadams89

Happy almost-May, readers! Our selection for the month is Crank by Ellen Hopkins. Hopkins‘ books were banned more frequently than any other author‘s in recent years.
Also, watch for discussion questions for our April read, The Perks of Being a Wallflower coming soon.

This was a beautiful and moving coming of age novel. It's absolute perfection. I highly recommend the audio read by Lin-Manuel Miranda. He truly makes the book come alive.
This was one of the most banned books in my state (Michigan). It's heartbreaking that there are people cannot see the value of this book.

(March and April were re-reads, so I went off-challenge.)
Re-read this for #WithTheBanned and remembered why I loved it so much. Honest, hopeful, and yes it deals with serious stuff in a sincere, thoughtful way. Now I think I need to go re-watch the movie 💗
I found this graphic novel via NYPL's Teen Banned Book Club. It is inspiring, funny, heart-warming, and utterly delightful. It's an amazing resource, as well. Books like this need to exist.
