During the 20th century, hundreds of thousands of people died from the use of nuclear weapons in Nuclear War I and other nuclear disasters. Dr. Newtan's book describes the disastrous consequences of the following nuclear developments all of which occurred in the 20th century: The Trinity Test of a nuclear device (explosion) The destruction of Hiroshima by a uranium bomb The destruction of Nagasaki by a plutonium bomb The hydrogen bomb, neutron bomb, and cobalt bomb Radioactive fallout Radiological weapons The BRAVO Test (hydrogen bomb) Three Mile Island nuclear reactor disaster Chernobyl nuclear reactor disaster Fermi I breeder reactor disaster Nuclear submarine disasters (U.S., U.S.S.R.) Thresher nuclear submarine disaster Scorpion nuclear submarine disaster Nuclear satellite disasters Lost nuclear weapons Lost nuclear fissile materials for weapons Nuclear waste disasters Acts of war on nuclear facilities Nuclear terrorism Proliferation of nuclear weapons Nuclear reactors in space Nuclear weapons in space Nuclear waste can it be safely stored for millennia?

Late, but here are the books that I read during week four of the #wintergames. I gained 4,650 pts for team #MistletoeManiacs!

she.epeolatry Hello 😃…. 1. What did you think of Survive the night? Did you think it would appeal to movie lovers ( as RS had anticipated)? 2. On average- how long does it take you to finish a book? Thanks! 2w
Clwojick I thought it was okay, but it wasn‘t what I was expecting since I didn‘t read the blurb going into it. Definitely read more like a movie than most books, so I could totally see the appeal there for movie buffs, and could definitely see them making it into a movie! Since I mostly listen to audiobooks, I tend to get thru them super fast… normally finishing 1-2 a day. Sometimes even 3-4 a day, on my days off. 😜 @she.epeolatry 2w
BarkingMadRun My final points were 1861 for the week. Not my best but not my worst 2w
she.epeolatry @Clwojick I was really disappointed. I think it‘s my least favorite by him — my fave being Final Girl — and it‘s probably because I am an equal lover of movies and books. I expected a greater variety of movies that reflected a broader timeline. He and I grew up in the same generation and even with the book being set in the past — the movies were all incredible old and less relatable than they could have been. 2w

Here are my totals for #wintergames2021 ! I know we have one day left but I don‘t think the little bit of reading I‘ll do will make much of a difference. I really fell apart in weeks 4 & 5 but I had family visiting that make it really hard to participate 😜. Hopefully my points still help the awesome #mistletoemaniacs get a win! I‘ve really loved being a part of winter games and my group and am already looking forward to next year‘s games!

Clwojick ❤ You did amazing! Thank you so much for joining us this past month! ❤ 2w

These are some of the readathons I‘ll be participating in next month. My overall goals for the month are to:
1. Get in the holiday spirit and have fun
2. Earn points for #TeamGameSleighers
3. Complete #Booked2021 and my Goodreads 2021 Reading Challenge of 120 books (41 books to go so this probably isn‘t possible but I could get pretty close)

TheSpineView Glad you are joining in! Good luck on those goals! 2mo
PuddleJumper Good luck! 2mo

Here's my #tbr for #WinterGames2021. I may be a tad over ambitious; literally all of these are currently on hold on Libby! 🤣 Most of them are fairly short so I'm hoping to get through the majority of them. #TeamGameSleighers

wordslinger42 I should add Once Upon a Wardrobe to my list! Lots of great choices 😊 2mo
SeaToSkyes @wordslinger42 they had me at Narnia 😁 2mo
cwarnier You can do it! 2mo
SeaToSkyes @cwarnier thank you! ☺️ 2mo

I‘ve been working on my TBR for #WinterGames2021 I‘ll probably add some titles from my November list I don‘t get to, & even with the careful mix of children‘s books & audiobooks I made sure to add here I doubt I‘ll read all these, but I like to have opinions. In the interest of keeping life low stress, I‘m going to go ahead & call this my #bookspin list for next month as well even though I‘ll probably change things up some. #TeamGameSleighers

TheAromaofBooks Yay!!! 2mo
StayCurious Great list! 2mo
wordslinger42 I also put children's books on my list and was probably overly optimistic about how much I'll read 😂 2mo
IndoorDame @wordslinger42 I always am. Even in regular months. 😂 But I figure that‘s half the fun, right? 2mo

My #WinterGames final check in...
Week 5 was a catch up week on posts so I have an additional 13,657 points to report, bringing my total score to 24,914 points!

Considering what a busy work month I had, I am surprised I got this high. Thank you so much @Clwojick for being a great team captain. All the effort you and @StayCurious put into this is greatly appreciated! Both of you are the BEST! I had lots of fun!

Happy New Year everyone!!!

It sometimes seemed 2020 might never end.... May our next 12 months leave our last in the dust... 🙏🏽🙏🏽

Also, apologies to my team for not posting all month, but I kept track! I earned a measly 330 points all month, but hey, 1 point is more than 0! 😳🥸😘

Clwojick You did great! I struggled to keep my posts up to day too. December was busier than expected, considering everything 😅 12mo

Well 83 different books (including work story readalouds ftw), 39 shows and movies, playing the readathon and games hard. All the bingo and scavenger hunts! I did my team proud I hope and I had tons of fun! I read tons more Christmas books and watched more movies than normal for sure! #wintergames2020 #readnosereindeer @StayCurious

We‘re coming up to the last two days of the #WinterGames, and although I REALLY didn‘t stick to my original list of 100 books for the month, I‘m still happy I managed to read as much as I did considering how busy the month ended up being for me. I wish I was able to participate more, but it‘s been a blast. Let‘s see how much more I can read in the last stretch. #merryreaders
