What are you buying today?!? I hit up Pango for the tagged book because my son loaned mine to his gf who destroyed it and then broke up with him 🤣🤣🤣 #cantmakethisshitup
Good but bloated storytelling, but I found the idea of a clown in the sewers a bit ridiculous from word one, so I never found this scary. And then in the last 60 pages of this 1153 page book is an abhorrent scene, exploiting all the kids and adultifying an 11 year old girl. It‘s disgusting and had I known about it in advance, I would not have read this.
Starting this again bought the paperback as was struggling on kindle some books I have to have the real book in my hand to get teeth into story. Re starting IT - by Stephen king had on kindle since Xmas last year got to p 86 in March and not picked back up.
It a book really want to dig into so decided to try again from scratch
some books I have to have the real book in my hand to get teeth into story. Quick read on my break
Cant sleep so may well have quick read but only set it for 10 mins then I not reading late 😂. Even though been reading on and off since tea time 🤦♀️😂.
After being terrified by the miniseries as a kid I never thought I would read this. King is such a good storyteller and the characterization is so in depth already.
I‘ve heard a lot of people say that they save all of their horror for the fall. And I have to admit that I‘ve been guilty about that the past few years. But I‘ve been in a horror mood the last few months and I‘ve been loving the spooky summer feeling. So here are a few of the summertime horror books that I love.

Phew, finally finished all 45 hours of the audiobook! I get all the criticisms I've heard about this book. It's indeed sprawling and messy, and there are a number of really uncomfortable scenes, but I absolutely loved the story and the characters all the same. I'm quite sure I'll be rereading this book at some future date.

(1986) This was the bestselling novel in the US for 1986. I know this is a favorite for many readers, and I get it -- I love the blend of personal and cosmic horror, and SK knows how to stage it effectively. But I find his sprawling prose style exasperating, the wink-nudge racism hasn't aged well, and there's a scene near the end that left me needing a brain bleach, not to mention holding an #unpopularopinion.
The terror, which would not end for another twenty-eight years - if it ever did end - began, so far as I know or can tell, with a boat made from a sheet of newspaper floating down a gutter swollen with rain.
1. Pennywise
2. I‘d stack a big pile of unread books….from my huge tbr.
Everyone is invited toplay!

I mean, what is there to say? It's It - one of King's best known and most well-loved stories, and the inspiration for two amazingly well-received adaptations. As a book, the narrative structure is fantastic, with the violent whipsawing back and forth between the past and present providing a slew of interesting contrasts and convergences. 5/5
Happy Valentine's Day, Litsy! Here's hoping you spend it with the ones who have built their houses in your hearts!
There was a time in my childhood when I'd have described myself very similarly. Books offered me far more than friendships seemed to offer others. Why make the trade?
Happy #wintersolstice #snowystack I had even more #stephenking books with white spines, but they were dripping blood and I thought they might be too much 🤣 #losersclub
I adored this novel. The depth of friendship in the story and the heart Stephen King puts into his character development is truly amazing. Pennywise is such an interesting villain and all the hero characters have traits that are endearing. I don't think anyone could read this book and not want to identify as one of “The Losers“ by the end. Quite a few thrills and gross moments between the characters with the backdrop of fictional Derry.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is one of those books that holds you hostage until it‘s finished. We all know Pennywise, but it‘s much deeper and darker than you could ever imagine. I went in never having seen any of the films and I‘m grateful for that. King, you are a masterful storyteller.
My kid convinced me to watch It Chapter One. It was less scary than I thought it would be. I loved the kids & the 1989 timeline. 11 points #scarathlon #teammonstermash
Will wrap this book up in the next couple of days. Can‘t stop listening! 🤡🍁🍂 #audiowalk
I was perusing Libby for my next #scarathlon audiobook and IT is listed as being 45 hours long! How can this be? I feel bad for the narrator, if it‘s not a glitch. Can anyone confirm that this book is this much of a tome?!
It - Stephen King
Ira Levin
It‘s a Wonderful Life
Iron & Wine
I Know You Rider - Grateful Dead

I watched the new version of It today for #Scarathlon2022. I actually like the older version better. This Pennywise didn't inspire as much dread for me as his scenes seemed more about shock factor. Of course the book was the best of the three.

Well this book has with out a doubt solidified my fear and loathing of clowns. Thank you, Mr King. This one took me the better part of three weeks to read because 1) hello it‘s over 1k and a chunkster and 2) clowns. Yeah I read this during the day. Sorry not sorry. I can understand why he‘s a horror go to author.
My first horror introduction was Stephen King's writing. He's scared the bejesus out of me on countless occasions. I'm always guaranteed a case of heebie jeebies when reading his books.
Thank you so much Stephen King and a happy 75th birthday 🎂
I'm surprised it took them until now to do this! I rarely watch the Simpsons anymore but try to catch the Halloween Treehouse of Horror episodes. This will be fun!

I remember the first time I watched the miniseries and how much it scared me as a kid. I took me until last year to finally read this and it did not disappoint. What I love here is that all the characters were fleshed out and memorable. Everything in this book seemed to have a purpose, there wasn't any fluff. And the root of this book is the power of friendship; how it can transcend time and place. And how friends can conquer anything.
I picked this book up out of fascination. I never read a #horror book before, and I‘m glad I did stick with it to finish it. This book was just so good. I definitely read more by this author.

This was one of the first Stephen Kings I read & is still one of the scariest. Definitely gave me a lifelong distrust of clowns! The movies do not do it justice, the sense of dread & hopelessness that permeates this story will stay with you for a long time after(though there‘s also a ray of hope at the end) Highly recommend.
This was the first book I read by Stephen King, back in middle school. This book was my real introduction to the horror genre, and the book that made Stephen King my favorite author.

@Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks
A book you‘d recommend whose title starts with the featured letter.
This last chapter I read was so eye opening. Being scared or fearful does something to the mind, and standing up to life‘s small challenges is so satisfying. My guess is Eddie‘s mom didn‘t want to lose her son at a very young age.
A nice cozy reread and the reason I'm scared of clowns; not so fond of red balloons either. But Stephen Webber's narration is amazing 🎈

This is going to be one of my next reads. Here‘s hoping I can stomach Pennywise. #summerreading #horror #ebook
Well, I didn‘t know if I‘d ever truly get around to reading this book on my shelf, but a favorite author and podcaster Laura Tremaine hosts a Stephen King Summer book club and this was the first selection this summer. It wasn‘t as scary as I thought it would be! But I still left it face down anytime I wasn‘t reading it 🫣 SK is an amazing writer - the opening scene was so real. 💧 It feels like a huge accomplishment to have read this! 4.5⭐️
🥁 🤡
Reading a bit of the master while I‘m in isolation…
I‘ve definitely had the same thought as Bill Denbrough during class…
Interesting...🎈
A "Something Wicked This Way Comes" post reminded me how much I like "kids on bikes vs. supernatural evil" books. I've read "It", of course, "Summer of Night", "Boy's Life", "Shadowshow" by Brad Strickland, and Thomas Tessier's "Phantom". I'm also familiar with (but haven't read) Brain Keene's "Ghoul". Anyone know of any more I can add to this list?
