This was great! Post-apocalyptic Native American monster hunting! Lots of action and exciting twists and turns. Magic and monsters and god-like creatures. All wrapped up in some Native American myths that I'm pretty curious about now.

😍 Loving this weather! ☀️ Reading lunch break in the park 😁

JanuarieTimewalker13 I‘m trying to figure out the vista. I almost get a Steven‘s vibe or what we used to call “Hoboken Beach” but I don‘t see water. Is this BKlyn? Or Central Park? Wherever it is, it‘s lovely, enjoy!! (edited) 4d

11/22/63: A Novel | Stephen King
post image
Pickpick

Really really excellent. Sci-fi meets historic fiction (and it's pretty light on the sci-fi aspect for the majority of the book), not the typical King at all, but, like most of his work, a real suck-you-in page-turner. Took me a while to get through this #chunkster but I thoroughly enjoyed every minute.
King talks about the research that went into it in the Afterword and man, what a project!
Highly recommend. Don't let the size scare you off!

1. Cookies. Love baking them, love eating them.
2. Fun socks on a normal work day. I wear a lot of bracelets when I'm in the mood to accessorize.
3. The Office and Parks & Rec are the only shows that I really like to re-watch.
4. Oh Brother Where Art Thou.

2. Pins - some Disney, some not, my collection is small but fun. And houseplants, I think I've got a few more than average ☺️
3. The Gourmet Cookie Book. It's got popular cookies from every decade since the 20s, I think. I've only made a handful, but I just enjoy flipping through it.

Whew! What a ride! A smuggler magician and an aspiring pirate slip between different versions of London in an effort to save the world (or in the pirate's case, just go on an adventure). It had some Lord of the Ring vibes (in a good way) and was also very unique - I liked the idea of magic being dangerous and costly to use, it ups the stakes a bit. Very cool worldbuilding, too.
Off to buy the sequels! 🤣😝

Whiskey When We're Dry | John Larison

An epic western with an unforgettable main character. The plot itself is fairly classic, but she's what makes this stand out. Her tale is harrowing and her journey takes her far from home, and even further from the girl she once was. This is violent without dwelling on it or glorifying it, humorous in places, heart-wrenching in others. Induces cravings for whiskey and fresh air.

The author wrote really wonderfully about grief and mourning, and was brutally honest about her alcoholism.
