#KeepLitsyactive

I love historical fiction about almost every time period. It is probably easier to say what time I don‘t care for (the 1920‘s), than list all the rest 😂
The tagged book is one of my favorites and is set in the Middle Ages, I also like WW2 fiction. This year I tried to find some more books set in WW1.
@ljuliel

ljuliel Thank you. A very nice post ! The only WW 1 Book I‘ve read is 5d
ljuliel ☝🏼It was really good ! 5d
JulAnna @ljuliel I read and really liked (edited) 5d

Crazeedi A great great book 5d
ljuliel I‘ve heard lots of good things about that one but have yet to read it. Can I ask if there‘s lots of romance or bedroom type scenes in it ? I don‘t do romance. I‘d rather read about the war and tanks and airplanes. 5d
JulAnna @ljuliel There is a love story component, but I wouldn‘t call it a romance. A lot about the war and the trenches. 5d
ljuliel Sounds good to me. I‘ll take the trenches any day over a sappy romance. 5d
Cathythoughts @ljuliel I‘m with you there ... I can‘t deal with the romancy stuff ( unless it‘s the big brilliant drama like Gone With the Wind ..... & @JulAnna (edited) 5d

What an epic book! This was picked for my work book club and I was a bit intimidated by the size of it... what normal person picks up a 1000 page book 📚 it‘s almost 3 ‘normal‘ sized books! Well I needn‘t have worried because once you start you just can put it down! It‘s awesome story-telling and the characters are brilliantly constructed. Don‘t be scared by it!
Can‘t wait to talk about it!

I somehow read this book in a week‘s time (after starting it two weeks ago in the airport, I had to take a break for a week). To be able to read 1000 pages in a week has to say something about how engaging a book is. It does take a bit to get rolling, but once it did it kept picking up speed. Can‘t wait to read the next in the series!

BEACH READING, I MADE IT!

But sometimes this is as close as I get to actually reading on the beach, haha. Sand is an unpleasant sensory feel.

kamoorephoto That‘s a bummer!! I love the beach and the feel of the sand (and the sound of the waves) BUT I hate being too hot and getting burnt. I can‘t afford to be overheated because of having MS despite liking the summer warmth. You can never completely win. Us humans have become such whiners 😉 4mo
SkeletonKey @kamoorephoto - We are definitely delicate creatures, lol! I‘m pretty sensitive to the sun too but I do love being near the ocean and watching waves, etc. I‘ll probably just walk when the sun goes down. 4mo
kamoorephoto @SkeletonKey Evenings in the summer are my favorite time because I can enjoy the warmth but not worry so much about the burning rays. Luckily we have long summer nights here and it‘s still light until 9-10pm. Plus I‘m not so fatigued. Usually in the afternoon I‘m a vegetable and totally useless 😰 4mo

Thoroughly enjoying this book so far.

I‘m visiting an aunt on my way to the beach. I made her this mug when I took a pottery class so it‘s fun to use it when I‘m here. Wish I could make more useful things like this.

sudi I love that mug 😍. It's so cool that you made it yourself 👏 4mo
SkeletonKey @sudi - It‘s like magic! I want to take another class but I wasn‘t very good at it overall. 4mo
sudi @SkeletonKey that looks pretty good to me. If you like the class you should definitely take it, i'm not good at so many of my hobbies but i stiil do them 😂 4mo

Tanisha_A That mug is beautiful! I am a lover of earthy tones. 4mo
SkeletonKey @Tanisha_A - I could not replicate that color no matter what I tried!! I loved it but everything I tried afterwards with the same glazes didn‘t match 😂 I liked it too though. 4mo
cobwebmoth I love the mug! So pretty. I've debated reading this book for a long time. I may have to try it soon. 4mo

First priority for the #24in48 #readathon is finish The Pillars of the Earth. Loving this book but need to commit to finishing it and a few others before life gets hectic in the fall. Starting a graduate program (in addition to full time work) in a month and sadly don't think I'll be able to keep up my usual pace. Looking forward to diving into these tomorrow! 📚 @24in48

I really liked this book. It was so easy to get pulled into and the hours just flew away. My only complaint is that the vilains are all very evil, and the good guys are all very good. With good and complex vilains it would have been a masterpiece.

Tried the physical book. Tried the audio book. I was bored at first and once the action picked up, I was just depressed. Too much death, not enough cathedral building for me. So it was a rare bail on this one, sadly.

Well-ReadNeck You may want to give the mini-series a try. It follows the book very closely ... and Eddie Redmayne!!!! 6mo

Day 17 - #church #springintoreading

In regards to Notre Dame Cathedral, this book reminds us how long it takes to build the cathedrals. If you haven‘t read it, you should! So much more than just about building cathedrals! Interesting people and storylines!

As I switch between TV, IG, and news apps ... all I keep thinking about is the tagged book. In Follett‘s book a cathedral burns, only to be rebuilt bigger and more beautifully. I hope that‘s what happens at Notre Dame. Paris cannot be without this amazing, iconic structure.

BarbaraTheBibliophage @Emilymdxn It‘s been rebuilt a few times, and I‘m hoping this won‘t be its final status. 7mo
ErinSueMreads So incredible sad 7mo
thebacklistbook Pillars is long but definitely worth it. And it is because I have read it that I know enough about architecture to say that notre dame will be just fine and will rise again hopefully with a less flammable roof this time. 7mo
