Perfect for fans of Me Before You and One Daya striking, powerful, and moving love story following an ambitious lawyer who experiences an astonishing vision that could change her life forever. Where do you see yourself in five years? When Type-A Manhattan lawyer Dannie Cohan is asked this question at the most important interview of her career, she has a meticulously crafted answer at the ready. Later, after nailing her interview and accepting her boyfriends marriage proposal, Dannie goes to sleep knowing she is right on track to achieve her five-year plan. But when she wakes up, shes suddenly in a different apartment, with a different ring on her finger, and beside a very different man. The television news is on in the background, and she can just make out the scrolling date. Its the same nightDecember 15but 2025, five years in the future. After a very intense, shocking hour, Dannie wakes again, at the brink of midnight, back in 2020. She cant shake what has happened. It certainly felt much more than merely a dream, but she isnt the kind of person who believes in visions. That nonsense is only charming coming from free-spirited types, like her lifelong best friend, Bella. Determined to ignore the odd experience, she files it away in the back of her mind. That is, until four-and-a-half years later, when by chance Dannie meets the very same man from her long-ago vision. Brimming with joy and heartbreak, In Five Years is an unforgettable love story that reminds us of the power of loyalty, friendship, and the unpredictable nature of destiny.

#WeeklyForecast

Not sure how I managed to finish 5 books and 2 of them were totally unplanned. I read the tagged book with encouragement from @Eggs It was good but left a bit of a hangover so picked up Incense and Sensibility to wash it away.

Loving Demon and will finish Bilbo‘s journey this week. After Demon will be The Marriage Portrait and am not sure about the rest.

Cinfhen Marriage Portrait is SO GOOD on audio! And I enjoyed Five Years too! We seem to like very similar books 👯‍♀️ 1mo

Really enjoyed this book. I thought it was going to be a light, fluffy read and it ended up being a beautiful story about love and friendship. A quick read but enjoyable.

Dannie and Bella have been lifelong friends. Now, both in their 30s, they have fantastic careers, loving boyfriends and are living their best lives. Bella, thinking she is pregnant, discovers that she actually has third stage ovarian cancer. The story couldn‘t get any sadder from that point on. I rarely cry while reading a book but, this one truly broke my heart. It was such a good book I would recommend it to everyonne.

Read in pretty much 24hrs so I guess I have to admit I was interested. I thought from the beginning it was going to be fluffy but as it turned out it wasn't. I didn't always like Dannie probably because 1) in a way I can self identify and 2) I feel the complete opposite and understand her personality from Bella's perspective. But she was real.
What would happen if we all caught glances of our futures?

I really liked the page distribution per chapter. Wasn‘t satisfied with the ending though 7.9/10

“Not because we are the same but because we fit, and because the more time that goes on, the more I cannot imagine my life taking place without you.”

“The thing about relationships it‘s not necessary to say everything.”

“I think sacrifice is in opposition to manifestation. If you want your dreams you should look for abundance not scarcity.”

"You mistake love , you think it has to have a future in order to matter but it doesn't…It matters only as it exists..love doesn‘t require a future” Dannie is a bold -Type A lawyer who has her whole life calculated down to every minute. Until the night of her engagement, to her long term boyfriend David, she visits the future in five years for an hour.

paytanmal pt2. She is met with a completely different life she has planned for herself. In a new apartment, with a different man, wearing a different ring on her finger. She spends the next five years trying to alter reality to avoid fate.

Just like the main character, you may think you have it all figured out but the book takes you on a big plot twist.

This is a love story, but it is not a romance. You think this is a story about one thing, and by the end realize it‘s something completely different. And yes, I ugly cried! I did grow weary during the middle-ish of the book wondering where the hell she was going to go with it, but I blame it entirely on the misleading synopsis. I will be reading more from Rebecca Serle!

I enjoyed this a lot but felt it was maybe a bit overhyped. The ending bothered me because it wasn't a nice, tied-up ending. Sometimes I'm okay with that kind of ending and sometimes I'm not. In this case, I yearned for something different. More sad than I anticipated.

I did not know a lot about this book going in and I thought it was a rom com. It is not. It‘s about what happens in five years and what you expect may not always be what is going to happen. I loved this book. I don‘t even know if I can recover right now. The writing was beautiful and just the story. I highly recommend.

I really enjoyed Serle‘s debut for adult fiction and am so glad that my book club picked this one to discuss later this week! I picked it up this morning and literally could not put it down! I didn‘t expect it to be as emotionally charged or to be more focused on friendship than romance. The characters and the New York setting came to life and I am really excited to hear what the rest of our group thought of it!

Liked to concept, but ultimately ended up disappointed with the protagonist. I always love a strong female friendship which felt like the saving grace of the book.

Ok, was not expecting this book to be what it was (in a good way, I guess) I was thinking light rom/com and this was not that book. It starts off lite but becomes an emotionally heavy read. Great narration/ a pleasant surprise that has me searching for the author‘s backlist. I will put TW under spoiler tag because it is definitely a spoiler!!

I went into this with an idea of what it would be like, but it turned out to be a whole other kind of story. But it was a good story! In this case, I didn‘t mind being surprised! Not a typical love story, but more about the love between two best friends.

I liked it!! I think the ending of Dannie‘s relationship was so subtle and true to how many end, especially ones you‘ve grown comfortable with. I loved the non traditional love story of Dannie and Bella. In the end, I was happy she and Aaron didn‘t end up together and that the feeling was grief. It gave me a wrap up I sometimes miss in more straight forward “romances”.
