Help! Anyone know how to make a template of my favorite books of 2023? I don‘t have the actual books, planning on using Goodreads for pics

LiteraryinLawrence I use the app Pic Collage and find that really easy to use for simple graphics that include pictures. 3mo
IndoorDame How many books are you looking to add to the template? If you use the app PicCollage at all @BarbaraBB shared her super clever trick for getting 23 (plus a label) into such a tidy grid. I think it‘s under her #top23of23 post. I‘ll definitely be using that method in the future! There‘s also an app called PhotoQuilt I‘ve used in the past that works with any number of photos but doesn‘t produce regular grids… 3mo
5feet.of.fury I used pic collage app & photos from storygraph 3mo
Kappadeemom Thank you all! I used PicCollage and it worked great! 3mo
BarbaraBB Thanks @IndoorDame 💜. Indeed I used the Pic Collage app for 4x6 books and then one for those 4 created pictures. 3mo

I‘m signed up for a number of buddy reads and I‘m having a difficult time keeping track of them. So I‘m going to list as many as I can, along with the host. Please help me add any In which I‘ve shown an interest or I may have forgotten.

See All 31 Comments
CatLass007 @StayCurious @Librarybelle @BarkingMadRead @TheAromaofBooks @TheSpineView @CBee Can any or all of you help me out? Am I listed on any of the buddy reads of which you belong and I seem to have forgotten? Could any of you please offer suggestions for buddy reads in which I might like to participate or for which I might have forgotten to register. How many of these buddy reads will be taking votes for all of next year? How many will be (cont)⬇️ 6mo
CatLass007 taking votes for one month at a time? Anything about buddy reads I might have forgotten to ask? I think I remember seeing a post for October that‘s #Scaretathalon or something and another that focuses on audiobooks? 6mo
TEArificbooks @CatLass007 #scarathlon is a month long reading challenge in October. Go to @Clwojick page to sign up and she will put you on a team. You get points for spooky book you read, ever spooky movie, craft, etc. 6mo
TEArificbooks I am the host of #witchathon which is a month long reading challenge in October where you just read at least one witchy book of your choice. No sign up required, you just post and tag me and witchathon when you have read a witchy book. Low key no stress. 6mo
CatLass007 @TEArificbooks Thank you so much! I‘m probably not going to join something in which points are given, I don‘t want to push myself beyond my stress levels. I‘m very competitive and I just want Litsy and buddy reads to be my safe place. But #witchathon sounds like fun. I‘m sure I can find one or ten witchy books in my audio library. 6mo
StayCurious Hi! I host #pemberlittens #JaneAdjacent where we read books somehow linked to Jane Austen. We vote each month on our next book. Although for October we‘ve decided to read the next book in a series - let me know if you‘d like to join! 6mo
StayCurious I also host #LittensLoveRomance where we read romance books all year long. Each month is a different sub genre and we vote monthly. 6mo
5feet.of.fury Do you do #losersclub with @BarkingMadRead ? All the Stephen King in order 6mo
Librarybelle Yes, I have your name for the tag list for the rest of 2023 for #LiteraryCrew . I leave it up to everyone if they prefer to be tagged on certain months or if they wish to be tagged each month. It‘s very low key! I will soon open suggestions from the group for 2024 and then open voting. Look for details soon on that! 6mo
Librarybelle I am also starting a #NancyDrewBR , where the group reads one Nancy Drew a month in series order. The first discussion of the first book, The Secret of the Old Clock, is November 15th. This coincides with @TheBookHippie ‘s November read of this book for her classic children‘s buddy read group. 6mo
TheAromaofBooks I do have you on the #RandomClassics list!! I set the books I'm going to read for the year, and then anyone who wants to read along can do so. Anyone is welcome to skip a month/book that doesn't appeal to them or that they don't want to reread or whatever. Each book is kind of its own thing!! 6mo
BarkingMadRead @Librarybelle can you add me to your tag list for Nancy Drew?!? That‘s so cool! 6mo
TheBookHippie I do #SUNDAYBUDDYREAD AND #CHILDRENSCLASSICREAD2023 The year changes as we go 6mo
CatLass007 @StayCurious I definitely want to join in with #PemberLittens #JaneAdjacent. Please count me in for as long as it lasts. I definitely want to read the second book in the series, and any others that may follow. Lots of different mystery series surrounding Jane and her literary offspring. I‘m not usually a reader of romance, but I‘d still like to be included in your #LittensLoveRomance — because you never know what my mood will be. Thank you.♥️ (edited) 6mo
CatLass007 @Librarybelle Please keep including me in the #LiteraryCrew notifications unless I ask you to do otherwise. I grew up reading Nancy Drew, but I don‘t think I‘m ready for a reread . Thank you for your answers to my questions and thank you for hosting! 6mo
CatLass007 @TheAromaofBooks Please keep me on the #RandomClassics list. One of the cool things about this list is that so many are free either through Libby as library books or are included with my Audible membership. 6mo
CatLass007 @TheBookHippie please keep me on your list for the #SundayBuddyRead. I wasn‘t able to participate this month because I already overcommitted. 6mo
CatLass007 @5feet.of.fury I was in at the beginning with #losersclub and the #TerryPratchett buddy reads. That was back when there was a lot of upheaval in my life and I became overwhelmed with everything. I don‘t really want to start back with either of those buddy reads. No particular reason. 6mo
CatLass007 @StayCurious @Librarybelle @BarkingMadRead @TheAromaofBooks @TheSpineView @CBee @TEArificbooks @5feet.of.fury @TheBookHippeie Thank you all for answering my questions! I just have one more. Is anyone hosting a #GraphicNovel buddy read? 6mo
Deblovestoread I sign up for many buddy reads and keep a reading journal to keep them all straight. It‘s not fancy but it helps keep me on track. Just the name, the host and the list of books by month. Good luck 😊 6mo
CatLass007 @Deblovestoread Thank you. I keep a journal of what I want to read and for whichever buddy read they belong to. Adding the name of the host might come in handy. I also have a journal of what I‘ll be needing to buy or check out of the library. Books that are already in my Audible library get added to my TBR journal, especially if they are part of a buddy read. 6mo
TheAromaofBooks I definitely have you on the #RandomClassics list!! I'm not sure if anyone is doing an official graphic novel buddy read of any kind - they aren't my usual thing so I don't pay very close attention. 6mo
CatLass007 @TheAromaofBooks Thanks for making sure I‘m on the #RandomClassics notification list. And thanks for the info about a graphic novel group. Oh, well… 6mo

AnnR Sorry, I'm not hosting a daily doodle challenge in January. Maybe someone else will decide to host one though. If not, Doodlewash.com lists monthly prompts for drawing or painting. They already have their list up for January 2023. They say to use the hashtag #doodlewashJanuary2023 when posting on social media. Just a thought. 😁

What should I read??? Completely uninspired by everything right now.

I like memoir, nonfiction, and some fiction but I‘m not sure how to further specify which kinds—I‘m not big on sci fi, fantasy, or horror, but like most others.

What have you loved recently??

Blueberry My moods have been shifting alot lately also. I have been switching around between mystery, nonfiction, feel good, favorite authors, ... 2y
Graywacke I really wish I had a good answer for you. Slumpy reading moods stink. 😕 2y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick My preferred memoirs are by celebrities but A Very Punchable Face by SNL's Colin Jost was cute & Dancing with Myself by Billy Idol had some great moments. If you're an audiobook listener, both of these were great! 2y
See All 12 Comments
jenniferw88 If you don't mind the occasional f-word, I'm currently listening to this, and she's hilarious 😂 2y
bibliothecarivs My first thought was this one, which blurs the lines between memoir and fiction. 2y
bibliothecarivs I also recently gave 5 stars to Educated by Westover (memoir), The Last Duel by Jager (history), Matrix by Groff (historical fiction), and Uprooted by Lyon (folklore/nature/memoir). 2y
fredthemoose @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Awesome! Thank you! I‘ve been “aware” of both of those, but neither made it into the immediate TBR, but I‘ll add them! 2y
fredthemoose @jenniferw88 I do not mind the occasional f-word in the slightest! This looks great. Thanks for the recommendation! 2y
fredthemoose @bibliothecarivs oooh—I‘d never heard of that one! I just added it to my stack! Thanks! 2y

Anyone like this? I‘m not for several reasons, one of which is that if the series is already 8 plus books deep I find it overwhelming and am less likely to start. I find it frustrating bc some of my favorite series have ended prematurely bc there wasn‘t enough interest at the time of publication for the series to be “lucrative” enough to continue publishing.
Do you worry about series ending early for lack of interest? Genuinely curious.

Avanders Same! I definitely don‘t need a series to be done before diving in… but yes, I also worry, esp when it‘s really good, about it not continuing!! Glad that‘s not true for Sanderson 😁😁 2y

I have a question--on your profile page if you click the book symbol there is a list of books you've added or noted over the years-a "wishlist" of sorts.
How do you remove a book on this list? I'm trying to update and want to remove books I've now read or am no longer interested in. Thanks!

Nute Go to the actual page for the book and change the symbol to “read” or if wanting to delete touch the “to read” symbol so that it clears and then save. That should remove it from your Litsy Wishlist. 2y

wanderinglynn Weird. I have no idea. Unless it‘s some kind of internal bookseller message. @howjessicareads is a bookseller, maybe she knows. Jess, any ideas? 3y

Okay folks, next month is Audiobook month! So..... who's up for an Audioathon? I'm thinking maybe I might do a contest for the most hours listened. The question is, should it be individually or team based? 🤔

I know I'm not the first to ask, but I've never taken notes when others have asked.

Favorite audiobook narrators? I don't listen to much, because my mind tends to wander. I am much more likely to listen to non-fiction/memoir on audio, but I am absolutely up for some good audio suggestions. And I know that a good performer makes all the difference.

Question on #booked2021, since this is my first year participating: I‘ve been trying to read the prompts in season order, sticking to just Winter prompts for these first three months. But the book I‘m reading now meets one of the Summer prompts. Can I count it, or do I need to find another book to read in the July-September quarter?

Litsy - I‘d like your opinion. I have a book that is good, just really slow. It‘s 480 pages and in 2 + weeks, I‘ve only managed to get to page 134. Meanwhile, I have 9 other books I wanted to read this month and can‘t start. Would you keep going or put it aside, knowing you‘ll probably have to start over from the beginning later?(For perspective, I read 2 books last week in 3 days that were 416 pages each.)

mom2bugnbee A... And maybe don't ever read it. *gasp* Unpopular opinion? Life is too short to read books you don't like! 3y
DGRachel @mom2bugnbee That‘s the problem-I do like it, it‘s just really hard for me to read more than 6-10 pages at a time before I zone out or start to fall asleep. It‘s well written and interesting, but not immersive, if that makes sense. 3y
MsMelissa I‘m with @mom2bugnbee 👍🏻 3y
Q84 Perhaps, if you are still interested read those few pages daily but read something else also. I do that sometimes. You don't want to force yourself to keep going if you're not in the mood for the book though because it could send you into a reading slump. @mom2bugnbee is right. It took me a long time to realize. 3y
DGRachel @Q84 @MsMelissa @mom2bugnbee Oh, I have no problem bailing on a book that I am not enjoying, unless it‘s for my work book club, which I moderate. I probably DNF 10-20 books each year. 🤪 3y
AmyG I know, for me, if I am reading a book but keep wanting to put it down to read something else...then maybe it‘s not the right time to read that book. 3y
TiminCalifornia Option A. I recently returned to a book I set aside in 2015 and flew through it. It‘s a mood thing. 3y
DGRachel @TiminCalifornia Oh wow! That definitely gives me hope for this book and that setting it aside is the right thing to do. 3y
GingerAntics I‘d say mix in another book. It might make it easier to get through. 3y
DogMomIrene A. Sounds like it may not be a book to read now. 3y
Megabooks It sounds like it may be the wrong time for this one. I‘d put it aside. 3y
DGRachel @GingerAntics I‘ve been trying to do that, but I think the lack of progress is frustrating and counterproductive, and since the feedback has been almost unanimous, I feel pretty good about setting it aside and trying again later. 3y
DGRachel @AmyG @DogMomIrene @Megabooks Thanks! I‘m going to set it aside and try again later. ☺️ 3y
GingerAntics @DGRachel yeah, if mixing in other things isn‘t helping, I‘d set it aside. That‘s probably the best choice. Like someone else said, I‘ve struggled to get through a few pages of something, but when I returned later I flew through it. 3y

I‘m prepping for my February TBR, and trying to pick a Zadie Smith book for #AuthorAMonth.

I didn‘t love Swing Time, and haven‘t read any of Smith‘s other work. Was considering White Teeth, which is a chunkster.

Which book would you recommend, Litsy?

Laughterhp Those are the only 2 books I have of hers... and I haven‘t been able to get into either 🤦‍♀️ 3y
Hestapleton I would suggest the tagged. I haven‘t read it, but it‘s short sooooo 3y
AmyG I enjoyed White Teeth but it was a very slow read that didn‘t come together for me until the end. Maybe try another one. I am reading On Beauty, but I just started so I don‘t have an opinion yet. 3y

Amandajoy I enjoyed On Beauty more than Swing Time. I have White Teeth on my shelf & may try to read it next month. 3y

I'm thinking of asking for a Book of the Month subscription for Christmas.

Looking for feedback. Do you love it? Just okay with it? What do you think?

Texreader I have no input since I‘ve never subscribed but I love the idea and have thought of asking for it on occasion. 3y
JamieArc I love it. My recommendation is to go check out what options they have offered each month. If you are drawn to any of them, go for it! I have read some really great books that I wouldn‘t have discovered elsewhere, and also able to get some of my favorite authors‘ book for much less money I would have spent elsewhere. 3y
Ruthiella I say DO IT since it is a gift! Give it a try and don‘t continue if you don‘t like it. 😀 Full disclosure: I am not a subscriber. 3y
Patchshank You can look through the past books and see if they have a decent selection of the types of books you like to read. If it seems like there's a lot of books then yeah go for it. If you do subscribe you are allowed to skip months that don't have books that interest you. They just don't bill you until you do pick a book. As far as I know you can skip as many months as you want. 3y

I have a question. Is there a way to change the description of a book in Litsy's database? The reason I ask, I have a book called Hotel Andromeda, and the blurb describing the storyline is totally wrong. I was just curious if there was any way I could edit this or bring it to Litsy's attention. No big deal, just one of those little annoyances of life that bugs me until I have to fix it lol.

Buechersuechtling I‘d try the “Suggest a book”-function you reach when you search the database, scroll to the end of the entries and then tap on that link saying “Can‘t find what you‘re looking for?” 🤷🏽‍♀️ 3y
Buechersuechtling I don‘t know if there is a more special feature if you use Litsy on a desktop computer. I‘m only using the app on my phone. 3y
RamsFan1963 @Buechersuechtling I tried what you suggested, we will see what happens. So far, no book I've ever added through that feature has appeared in Litsy's database. 3y
Buechersuechtling @RamsFan1963 Same here. Reassuring to find out I‘m not the only one. I have my fingers crossed for you. (I mean, someday one of us must be successful. Statistics, you know. 🤷🏽‍♀️) 3y

What‘s your favorite blog platform? Have you tried several? I‘m using Wordpress, and I‘m looking into a new website with a blog as the main thingy. Wondering if there are better options out there.

1) Why don‘t I see my NG reviews in my read-list, and why do I still have the “write a review” option? How can I change this, or can I? 2) Why can‘t NG find some of the ISBNs, and should I let them know about this?
I‘m sure some of you fabulous NetGalley reviewers can help me with these questions! 💡🔋🗝🆖

vlwelser 1. I'm not sure I understand this question. But I don't normally look for books I've already reviewed. Maybe save your reviews somewhere else before posting if you want to use them later. I write mine in goodreads and copy them into netgalley. 2. Not everything is on NG and I'm not sure they all have ISBNs assigned if they are posted pretty early. My best suggestion for this is to search by author. 4y
Tove_Reads @vlwelser I meant that when I write a review on NG and choose the Goodreads option then it doesn‘t attach it to my personal Goodreads account, but I have still reviewed it as me, but doesn‘t show up on my own list and I still have the “write a review” option. 4y
vlwelser I have that "feature" turned on but I'm not sure it does anything. It's supposed to post to your feed. But I don't think it posts an actual review. If it even works. You may need someone that's newer to NG. It was pretty basic when I started. Or send them a help ticket. I would send a help ticket. I'm sure there's a way to do that. 4y

Lately I have been reading a lot of historical fiction and a lot of that have been books with at least two narratives. What I would like to find are historical novels that have only ONE narrative and don't shift between the present and the past or between two or more characters; I am really tired of it. The ones I can think of are historical mysteries, the Outlander series and The Book Thief.

I said when I got up to date in a series or finished one I could start another- so here‘s my current list for recommendations to start. These are all series where I have at least the first 4 in print or kindle. Thoughts from all welcome 👇🏻

TrishB Angela Marsons - Kim Stone. Kate Ellis - Wesley Peterson. John Sandford - Lucas Davenport. Elly Griffiths- Ruth Galloway. Sharon Bolton- Lacey Flint. 4y
squirrelbrain Definitely the first one - love Kim Stone! 4y
swishandflick I vote for Sharon Bolton - I loved that series! So spooky and fascinating. 4y

Cathythoughts I don‘t know any of these ... have fun deciding.. @squirrelbrain I might try a Kim Stone sample 👍🏻❤️ 4y
squirrelbrain Give it a go @Cathythoughts - they‘re often on Kindle for 99p so a bargain series if you like the sample. (edited) 4y
TrishB @swishandflick oh good to hear 👍🏻 4y
TrishB @Cathythoughts they are series that come up on the offers and I get them and just don‘t seem to start them! Although I started counting how many I‘m reading and that wasn‘t good! 4y

Do you read one book at a time or many? I‘m usually one at a time but I‘ve signed up for some May challenges and I‘m wondering how do I this? Is it a chapter a time, a book a day, whatever you feel like at given moment? Would love to know how others do this. Should I have a schedule? Thanks.
Pic is of my cat Pemberley

melissajayne Many at one time; usually I read whatever is pressing first and usually do a combination of books. It also depends on the circumstances why I‘m reading those books; book club books take precedent, then whatever is next due at the library, then whatever readalong I‘m doing at the moment. (edited) 4y
Lcsmcat Pemberly is beautiful! I almost always have multiple books going. Usually they‘re different in some way - print v eBook, fiction v nonfiction, English v French. I read on a schedule only if it‘s for a group, either here or my irl book club. Otherwise it‘s as the mood strikes or the location demands ( no Kindle in the 🛀) 4y
melissajayne If there are none of those circumstances above are going on that I mentioned, then it‘s whatever catches my fancy (edited) 4y

wanderinglynn I‘m like @Lcsmcat. I usually have multiple books going but different formats—usually one audiobook, one e-book, and then one or two physical—so that no matter where I am, I can be reading. I don‘t have a set schedule. Whenever I finish one, I pick up another one in that format. 4y
BethM I just read whatever I feel like at the time. 4y
Lesanne I usually have multiple books going at a time. I don‘t usually have any set schedule but I‘m doing the #Pemberlittens Jane Austen group in which I‘ve decided to read a chapter a day of her books. 4y
Crazeedi I never read more than one at a time till I got "hooked on Litsy"? so now I'd say I have a couple physical or ebooks going at once. Come ccx warm weather, I'll be doing audio when outside in garden 4y
RainyDayReading I always have multiple books going. I just read whatever I‘m in the mood for. Usually if I read one during the day, I‘ll read a different one before bed. It helps me to be reading books of different genres at the same time too. 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage I usually read two or three at the same time. Usually one print, one ebook and one audio. Sometimes where I am determines which I read. Sometimes I switch by chapters or just “mood read” among the three. And once I‘m 85% through one, I will really focus just to get it done. Just my thing ... YMMV. 4y
TheAromaofBooks If I'm reading multiple books, it's usually because one is “heavier“ than the other. I tend to leave the heavy book at the table and read it while I eat, while the fluffier read is my companionable read-snatches-here-and-there book haha 4y
Cuilin @melissajayne @Lcsmcat @wanderinglynn @bethm @lesanne @crazeedi @rainydayreading @barabarathebibliophage @thearomaofbooks Thanks for your comments, 🙏I‘ll probably combine a schedule for some books with mood reading for others. 💕 4y

There are two book podcasts that I‘m considering unsubscribing; I have listened to both of them for a considerable amount of time and while they are both excellent shows, I just don‘t enjoy them any longer. Partly it‘s because I‘m enjoying other bookish podcasts more that just really deal with discussing actual books than any sort of bookish news, which I don‘t really care for.

Karkar My podcast tastes have really changed. I used to listen to all the Book Riot podcasts but I do not listen to any of them anymore. 4y
melissajayne @Karkar your comment made me rethink a bunch of other podcasts that I was subscribed to as well. 4y
MallenNC In general I have a hard time keeping up with podcasts along with everything else, so I‘ve dropped some of them out of necessity. 4y
AvidReader25 I tend to prefer audiobooks over podcasts. There are only a couple I make time for. 4y

@laurenslibrary @Hooked_on_books @TheAromaofBooks it showed up again, finally! I thought it was Horizon Books but when I searched it didn‘t come up.

blank Yay! You found it! 4y
Hooked_on_books Glad you found it! I had Horizon in my head, too, but thought I must be wrong when I couldn‘t find it. Hopefully they pick some good books for you! 4y
ravenlee @Hooked_on_books I hope so, too, because I went a little nuts and ordered two sets. 😬 I figured with ten there‘s a better chance of getting something I don‘t already have... or something. Some people panic-buy milk; I panic-buy books. 4y
Hooked_on_books I would totally judge people for panic-buying food, but I NEVER judge book buying! 😆 4y

Ok, a couple days ago I saw an ad on Facebook from an indie bookstore somewhere, offering blind date-type packages of five books for $25. When you order they‘re supposed to ask questions about your fav genres and authors. I want to do it and now I can‘t find the ad, and of course I have no clue what the store is called. Did anybody else see this? Help! None of my FB friends know what I‘m talking about and my google search was useless.

blank I know what you're talking about but I can't remember the name of the store, either! I believe it was in Washington state, though. Idk if that will help your search. 4y
ravenlee @laurenslibrary I was thinking Washington state, too, but my search of WA indie bookstores came up empty. Nothing rings a bell - but finally someone else knows what I‘m talking about! 4y
Hooked_on_books Arg, someone posted on here about that a few days ago but I can‘t remember who! I found this, not sure if it‘s the same one, but it‘s the same idea: https://www.villagebooks.com/village-books-personal-recommendations-request 4y
TheAromaofBooks I hadn't heard of this at all, but if you find out, do let me know as it sounds intriguing! 4y

QUESTION: Does “book adds” mean books you have added to your own lists on here, or the number of “stack adds” other people have done from your posts?

LeahBergen I think it is what other people have stacked from your posts. 🤔 4y
Megabooks I agree with @LeahBergen 4y
alisonrose @LeahBergen @Megabooks that was my assumption but I realized I had no actual idea, haha 4y

Does anyone else wish we could just search for a genre?

I would love to be able to see a list of books in a genre so I can look at the books, their descriptions, and the posts people added about them. It would be nice...

Crazeedi That would be nice 4y
TheBookAddict @TimSpalding do you think this may be possible sometime in the future? 4y

I need your wisdom 🙂

Texreader I use my iPhone to read ebooks so I can‘t help with advice about devices. But I strongly recommend you go to Bookbub and tell it your fave genres. You receive a daily email of ebooks on sale at most ebook stores (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple etc). I‘ve never seen one that costs more than $2.99. And 99% of the time there is at least one free ebook every day. Enjoy!! 4y
Derf I‘ve only ever used a kindle and loved it. Initially it took a while to get used to. I had the paperwhite and upgraded to the oasis this year ....... I‘d hand my oasis in for a new paperwhite any day of the week though. Get a paperwhite and a decent case and after a month you‘ll be a convert 👍🏻 4y
Moonprismpower Kindles have come a long way plus if you get a case you probably won‘t have trouble holding it? I use my iPad but they can get heavy or overheated and the screen doesn‘t read well in sunlight. I also use my phone for audiobooks. I definitely recommend trying the Libby app through your library. Here the catch, you can recommend unowned titles through the Overdrive website but currently not in the app. But if you do recommend a title , pt 1/2 cont- 4y
See All 11 Comments
Moonprismpower Cont., pt 2/2 you are placed on the hold list if they buy it. Yes digital library titles have a waitlist, it‘s a publisher issue. DON‘T GET A NOOK. 4y
Nessavamusic I‘ve owned a Kindle since generation 2, and I love them. I got an Oasis last year and it‘s been my favorite. It‘s very comfortable to hold and closer to paperback size. (edited) 4y
LauraBeth I had a Kindle in 2010 and hated it bc it seemed so clunky! They‘ve come a LONG way! I decided to try a Kindle again and got a Kindle Paperwhite three years ago and really love it! It‘s small so it‘s always in my bag that I take everywhere. It‘s also easy to read in direct sunlight (unlike my iPad). Plus, it‘s so easy to check out digital copies of library books. I‘ve also dropped it a ton of times bc I‘m clumsy and it still works! 4y
Hestapleton I love my Kindle Paperwhite! I think Best Buy has some on display, so you can hold them and see what you like in your hand. I know some people also put Popsockets on theirs to make them easier to hold, which is brilliant. 4y
sprainedbrain I‘ve had many Kindles... I made the mistake of getting a Fire once, and quickly realized they are meant for tablet usage way more than reading. I switched to Kindle Voyager which I loved (until I accidentally broke it), and now have the Paperwhite, which I also love. It‘s smooth and easy to use. I get most of my ebooks from the library, but do occasionally buy one on Amazon. (edited) 4y
Megabooks I love my kindle paperwhite, but I also love my Flippy (and there are knock offs) that holds it up easily, whether I‘m tired in bed, eating, etc. (I got mine from QVC, I know, but Amazon has better pictures.) https://www.amazon.com/Multi-Angle-Tablets-eReaders-Smartphones-Magazines/dp/B00... 4y
Megabooks I also use my Flippy with hardcover books! Great for supporting the heavy ones. 4y
Megabooks And I get well over half my ebooks from my library‘s e-lending. Overdrive or Libby are what most libraries have. It works well on kindles and kindle apps on phones/tablets. 4y

1. I love that Litsy is a non judgemental place of bibliophiles. Littens understand your my obsession with books.
2. Some of the buddy reads because I am not interested in the book. But others enjoy and it doesn't distract me.

2. Posts about certain genres of books I don‘t like but that‘s to be expected
3. Not sure
4. Every day/every other day
5. I love the swaps, questionnaires and read alongs
6. Not sure - I kinda like it the way it is but have also noticed people leaving... not sure why. Maybe a way to put all book posts one place and the questionnaires and swaps somewhere else.

#keeplitsyactive

ljuliel Thanks for your reply . I agree, it‘d be great to have those areas separated if there‘s a way they can do it. 4y
MuddyPuddle Yup, I‘ve backed off because of all the questionnaires and back-and-forth about book swaps. Not so interesting if you‘re just looking for booktalk. 4y
Crazeedi That's a great suggestion!! 4y
ImperfectCJ I, too, like the suggestion to filter/sort book posts separate from questionnaires and swaps. 4y
TheAromaofBooks Yes, if you could filter by review/blurb/quote and added another category for “other“ or some such, that would be quite helpful. For instance, I didn't mind everyone participating in the Halloween contest/points thing, but the amount of posts concerning just that and not actual books was somewhat overwhelming. 4y

What do u guys think of something like this? I LOVE Litsy & this is the best bookish community I‘ve found so I value your opinions!

First of all, sorry about some of the language, although I found the comment very funny!

Second, I want to know would you take the job? Would you have conditions?

I think I could do it, but I might have a few conditions. Some sort of lights & my headphones to listen to music or books.
