#Pemberlittens January Jane Austen Book Club Theme is Read a 'Now' book you didn't get to for last year's #JaneAustenThenAndNow.

I have several but decided to go with To Mark The Occasion - Birthday Tales for Jane Austen's 250th birthday. Perfect start for my big birthday years. What are you reading? 🎂

Hello 2026! In honor of my 60th birthday celebration year, I was thinking I would change my handle. My fabulous friend Claire came up with Austen meets Annie theme for this year's Jane Austen Book Club. I loved it so much I thought it would perfect name for the new year. Let's get the party started! 🥳

Last night I finished my 72nd and last book of 2025. I‘ll do all the fun stats and wrapups later. For now I want to mention one quirky thing that I track just for grins and giggles.

The oldest book by far that I read this year was Emma. Thank you #PemberLittens for the kick in the pants! This also means that I‘ve now read all six of Jane‘s novels. Emma was not my favorite!

Susanita @dabbe Persuasion 😀 3d
dabbe @Susanita One I have NOT read! Moved up on the TBR! 🩶🩵🤍 3d

Pickpick

I squeezed in one more for the #JaneAustenThenandNow challenge with the #Pemberlittens. This one is the most loosely-based adaptation of the books I have read in this series. Just like the other ones, it could have used more editing to tighten it up. It's much longer than it needs to be and moves slowly. Still, a sweet romance and fun characters. @Crinoline_Laphroaig. This leaves Persuasion and an adaptation to finish up!

Pickpick

#Pemberlittens my last read for #JaneAusten250. Been saving Sanditon for the end of the month. It's been a lovely year rereading everything Jane wrote. I'm reading from the gorgeous new edition illustrated by Marjolein Bastin, includes Sanditon, early novella Lady Susan, another unfinished work The Watsons and the 3 Volumes of Juvenilia. Reading all these has been a perfect companion to Jane‘s 6 main novels.📖

Portraits of Pemberley | Elizabeth Gilliland
post image

A contemporary Pride and Prejudice/Sense and Sensibility mash-up, with Bingley subbing for Edward Ferrars. I'll give this a low pick, because I did start to get invested in it towards the end... and because Gilliland's Darcy retains a bit of his charm. Also, Willoughby as a classic sensitive new age guy is a hoot. The non-linear story telling is kind of confusing and I liked the first book better.

Extended family is gone, and everyone remaining is in a food coma or napping after our annual Christmas day brunch, so I'm catching up on this month's books. I finished my reread of Emma for #Pemberlittens #JaneAustenThenandNow, and I loved it as much as ever! I'm resigned to the fact that I'll have to finish the last 3 books of the challenge in the new year. @Crinoline_Laphroaig

Austen_meets_Annie Well #AustenMeetAnnie January is read something you meant to read for #JaneAustenThenAndNow so there's that. But you can never go wrong reading Jane Austen anytime! 1w
