New read! It's been a while since I read a new Brandon Sanderson book.
Went on an impromptu hike today! Now home to Master Chef and later working on this book!
I don‘t generally read a ton of sci-fi, but I loved this! My husband is obsessed with Brandon Sanderson, but was skeptical of him veering from the fantasy titles he usually writes, so I‘m hoping I‘ll be able to convince him to try this one. Can‘t wait for the sequel!
Also, did anyone else finish this and think humans were probably in exactly the position they deserved to be in?!
Back at it this morning with another #audiobook while I get breakfast around and the kids play. Lane keeps asking “what‘s that girl talking about?!” I had to pick a book I knew wouldn‘t have a lot of questionable language he‘d pick up on... #readathon #reversereadathon
I have thebest students! Two of my students gifted me with this book from the book fair at school. What made this gift even better was that they wrapped it (using the paper above) and the joy on their faces when they gave it to me was priceless! @TracyReadsBooks 💖💖
Today‘s Audible daily deal was too good to pass up! #AudibleDailyDeal
Starting this today!!! This is my first book by this author.
Ah! Okay so this wasn't as like high sci-fi/space opera I was nervous it would be. I LOVED Spensa. Like omg. She's so motivated and independent and agh! Just yes to her whole thing. GIRL SPENDS THE WHOLE BOOK ON A QUEST AND THERES LIKE ONLY ONE MAYBE KINDA POTENTIAL ROMANCE HINTING! THATS IT! I'm very curious about the like...void that makes her hear the aliens. Just want more of the world and politics unveiled. HERE FOR THE SEQUEL!
Time to tackle my FIRST Brandon Sanderson book
After a false start with a different book, I decided to pick Skyward up instead and it‘s really good so far. Unfortunately, I‘ve spent the entire weekend doing everything but read, including moving all my books and bookshelves downstairs, but I‘ve managed to get about 150 pages in.
I couldn't control myself! 😟 The librarian gave me those judgemental eyes...🤨
This is my first Brandon Sanderson book, and it won‘t be my last. I felt like it was slow the first 100ish pages or so, and then it totally picked up and I found myself swept up in this story.
I love fantasy books, and this was definitely more sci-fi with aliens and space elements.
I‘ll definitely be reading the next book in this series!
75° and sunny here in Florida ? enjoying some outside reading ?
Brandon Sanderson knows what he is doing even in YA Sci-fi! This is YA with NO Romance!! Genius!! Because Brandon Sanderson doesn't need romance to be a master storyteller. Complex world, unique characters, building plot, well described action sequences, satisfying ending, and no paltry cliffhanger to make you read the sequel. No need to bait me. I will read the sequel.
Kids training to be pilots in a seemingly unending war against an alien species they don‘t understand & can‘t beat—I totally get why my son loves this book. Spensa has always wanted to be a pilot but she lives under the cloud of father‘s well-known cowardice in battle, making her journey to acceptance & certification as a pilot harder than most. Good YA science fiction, a fast read with a likable & very feisty lead who you root for from page 1.
Same title—which I just now noticed—for my next read. This time it‘s YA science fiction instead of a graphic novel. I bought this one for myself but then gave it to my son to read since he enjoyed another one of Sanderson‘s YA books. He read it not once but twice all the way through before telling me he was done & I could read it...Which, I just tried to do but he just took it back so he could read some fav sections. Has to be good, right?!?
Question: If "evil superheroes" was the hook for the Reckoners series, what is the hook for Skyward?
Does that mean M-Bot is basically Toothless?! If so sign me up!!! Only about 20% into this right now but am really enjoying this so far.
My Christmas #bookhaul
I liked this! I thought the background to the main character and her motivations were well developed, even though it‘s Sci-Fi, I didn‘t think the storyline was over the top (a friend used this as her excuse as to why she wouldn‘t read as Sci-Fi in a discussion we were having recently 🙄) and the ending was a bit ‘Oooh!!‘😂And Spaceships, people, SPACESHIPS!!!
Earlier when I said sci fi could be a hit or miss, I meant it and this just isn‘t holding my attention. I don‘t just don‘t care about the characters and I‘m not really that engaged in it.
This has the potential to become a new favorite insult. #dork
