I actually think this has a good shot at winning! 😀
I actually think this has a good shot at winning! 😀
I haven‘t been on Litsy much lately because I‘ve been experiencing some issues with my phone screen being too sensitive while using the app. I can‘t seem to scroll thru without every single link and every single hashtag launching on every post. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Grey Cat says 👋
Here are my goals for #BFCr4. I‘m excited to be cheering on my team: @Kaylamburson @Blaire and @MaleficentBookDragon
P.S. I am SO glad that it finally feels like Fall in the South! 🍁🍂 That‘s going to make this challenge a lot easier 😀
Sunday reading 🐶😻😻😻
One of the librarians at the library put this book in my hands and said I‘d love it.
Me at Costco: “😻😻”
Husband at Costco: “Keep it moving!”
Library Holds. Also - I just got a notification from the library that my hold for Patchett‘s The Dutch House is In-Transit. 🙀 Whenever it says that, I‘ve gotten the book either that day or the next day. Wondering if the release date was moved up? 🤔
I don‘t know HOW I haven‘t read this book yet. Finally bought a Kindle copy so I can read it this evening. Already a few pages in and I‘m in love. (Proof of life pic of Grey Cat for @AlaMich 😺).
⭐️⭐️💫 #UnpopularOpinion: This was one of the most depressing books ever and I‘m so relieved to be done with it. I felt like I was on a journey with two families and only got the worst events of their lives. I‘m okay with sadness and all of that but dang...give me a little light to go along with it. I get the whole forgiveness and redemption angle but tbh, this just didn‘t work for me.
So I‘m on page 120 of this book and have to ask - where is all of this hope that people keep talking about? Is it coming? Because this has been one dark and sad ride so far. Where is the light?
I ❤️ a long-tailed Q.
Happy Friday 💃 Reading the tagged book this morning.
When you realize the definition for angle of repose is a metaphor for everything in life: marriage, work, family, society and your own damn self.
Robbie says he‘s in the mood for rich parents behaving badly.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 I‘m gonna go try and piece my shattered heart back together after reading this. I‘m not sure the pieces will ever fit the same way again.
“Before I can say I am, I was. Am or was, I am cumulative too. I am everything I ever was...I am much of what my parents and especially my grandparents were-inherited stature, coloring, brains, bones (that part unfortunate), plus transmitted prejudices, culture, scruples, likings, moralities and moral errors that I defend as if they were personal and not familial.“
“That old September feeling, left over from school days, of summer passing, vacation nearly done, obligations gathering, books and football in the air...Another fall, another turned page: there was something of jubilee in that annual autumnal beginning, as if last year's mistakes had been wiped clean by summer.“- Wallace Stegner, Angle of Repose ❤
You know that party that everyone seems to be at and you‘re like, “I‘m not sure I actually want to go - it doesn‘t seem interesting.” But you finally throw on some pants and go and after entering the doorway you GET IT. You now understand why everyone is here. There‘s a sparkly unicorn in the corner. It is magical. Well I‘ve finally entered into the Sally Rooney admirers party and I wish I‘d come much sooner. We‘re saving a glittery spot for you.
Thanks for the tag @tournevis and @lynnsoprano!
1. A Little Life - it scares me and has been sitting on my shelf since 2015. 😥
2. I've read Little Women 5 or 6 times. 😊 It was the first book my mom gave me as a kid and I probably go back to it more for nostalgic reasons than anything else.
3. Just checked - 593 books - that seems doable 😂
4. Bad Blood ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
5. I tag anyone who sees this and who wants to join in!
Morning reading. Also - if you have never had the pleasure of being owned by an orange tabby cat - you should fix that ASAP.
My holds came in. All at once. It‘s fine. 😝
This copy of Normal People has substantial water damage and I didn‘t notice it until after I got home. 💧Now I‘m going to have to convince the library that I didn‘t do it. 😧
I think this book needs a backlist bump.
If you like:
✅ Stories about the road not taken
✅ Character-driven books that focus on psychological makeup and explore big ideas
✅ The movie, Sliding Doors
✅ The dichotomy of stability vs. sparks in relationships
✅ Thinking about choice vs. chance
This would also make a great book club or buddy read pick.
Thrift store finds 💃
Saturday morning ☕️🍩📚😺
My kid is reading this and left it on the couch, so I picked it up and started reading it. Guess now I have to finish it. With a lap of cats.
Pretending its Fall and making pumpkin bread - because I need for Fall to hurry up and get here and cool things off in the south.
Listening to All The Books podcast. The tagged book was discussed and seems to be gaining a lot of momentum lately. Lots of very positive reviews. I can‘t wait to read it!
I cried while listening to this episode.
“My go-to quote after the fire was from Gone With The Wind: “I can't think about that now. I'll think about that tomorrow. “ Although I feel uprooted, I will find my Tara again.“
If you need a reminder of the important things in life (like I was today) - this is a good listen.
“But sometimes you only see the signs once you‘re on the highest branch of realization.” 🙋♀️😹
⭐️⭐️⭐️This is pleasant - it‘s like a trip to the DQ for a sweet treat. There‘s a lot of Maine, lobsters and minor league baseball. There‘s a darker sub-text beneath the surface but it‘s never really drawn out and doesn‘t interfere with the Hallmark story of two people starting over after losses and disruptions. Your mom or grandma would love this book. I would have rather read another variation of this book that delved into the darker sub-text.
I did a dis-service to this beautiful book cover by not capturing it all but the BFG takes up a lot of space. Those were the words uttered by the pet sitter when we got back from vacation: “Your um, cat? He um, takes up a LOT of um, SPACE.” 😹
After reading this chapter, I was like, “Well clearly Tove Jansson loved cats.” A google search later turned up her and her black cat, Psipsina. There are days when I realize I know little about the literary world. 😹 #BlackCatAppreciationDay
Happy #BlackCatAppreciationDay! Here‘s to all the kitties - the black ones, the ginger ones, the torties, siamese, tabbies and every other floofy-floof we worship.
Speaking of hero worship - I‘m reading this because Lauren Groff named it as one of her favorite books - so of course, I‘m going to read it! ❤️
I can‘t wait for this! ❤️ Sept. 24 🍁🍂
I was gonna start one of these but got side-tracked and bumped up The Gifted School on my list - and @MicheleinPhilly started reading it so now I have FOMO on reading about jerk parenting - and now I‘m not sure...🤔😂
”Going to the library - can y‘all move away from the front door?!”
Did I ever think I‘d have three cats? No - but here we are. 😹
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️No sophomore slump for Stradal! Such a delightful book. I really liked Kitchens of the Great Midwest, but actually liked (loved) this one even more.
“Her grief was a forest with no trails, and she couldn‘t guess how long her heart would walk through it, as her body walked other places.”
Will be in my top five for 2019.
G‘mornin‘! 😺☕️🍩 Is it Halloween yet?
LARGE PRINT 😀 because it was available at the library. Also - I am terrified that this library copy is a paperback without any special binding.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ultimately, how we perceive and interact with the world is affected by what our childhoods were like. I think if we bring this understanding to the book, it would help people make sense of the main character.

Exactly how many cats is too many cats? Asking for me. I‘d appreciate enabling responses only. 😹
So we‘re leaving for Disney World tomorrow and let me tell how you how excited I am! Why?
1. We‘re driving (well not me - the husband is driving while I read). I get 6 hours of reading time on the way there and back!
2. It‘s scheduled to rain!
So like - I‘m basically being chauffeured while I read and then holing up in a condo, where I‘m gonna pray for rain, and read. In other words - this is my perfect vacation! 😀
