How far would you go to find THE ONE? One simple mouth swab is all it takes. One tiny DNA test to find your perfect partner - the one you're genetically made for. A decade after scientists discover everyone has a gene they share with just one person, millions have taken the test, desperate to find true love. Now, five more people take the test. But even soul mates have secrets. And some are more shocking - and deadlier - than others... A psychological thriller with a difference, this is a truly unique novel which is guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat. (Note: Previously published as A Thousand Small Explosions)

If you are looking for a twisty, dark, surprisingly heartfelt story with amazing multiple character stories then this book is for you. I didn‘t know what to expect when I started a book about a dating app that matches you to your soulmate with DNA but this story explores multiple scenario of what could happen with such a possibility. I really cared for all the characters and there were plenty of OMG and WTF moments. I highly recommend this book❤️

As a lover of both romance and thriller, I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. It has a certain dystopian element to it, in the sense that a gene has been found that ultimately helps you find your soulmate. But beware it‘s not as good as it sounds. This is where the books takes centre stage. I was honestly hooked from the first page. Would totally recommend.

The story is absolutely fascinating! The concept of finding your perfect match via your DNA takes the Ancestry DNA test to whole other level. The story focuses on 5 different couples who each have quite the interesting story after taking the Match Your DNA test. A fast pace book, a must read will keep you turning the pages to find out what happens next.

This book was CRAZY! What if genetic testing existed to find your true biological soul mate, your perfect match?? Marrs explores a whole host of chaotic scenarios that were really thought provoking. I was in the mood for a thriller and this one has a little sci-fi, a little romance, and a lot of food for thought. And of course, it‘s coming to Netflix as a series in the near future! Definitely plan to tune in 📺

The way this sci-fi is written in a simple plausible manner really intrigued me.
Some of the turns are predictable but I do not think one is likely to guess the entire plot from the first chapters.
I listened to most of this via audiobook. The female narrator was really enjoyable to listen to and she has really great accents. The male had an introspective manner that was really nice, especially when listening to Christopher‘s inner dialogue.

With all the ancestry DNA available now, would be interesting if there was a soulmate gene. These are a couple of examples of matches. I think I would want to know. Probably a very bad idea though. It‘s a slippery slope fate vs choice. (-♾ for using the word Frisson)

Finally, my first “wow” book of the year! A dating app, but you are matched by your DNA so no need to faff about talking to loads of losers on Tinder 😂! There were so many twists and turns - thankfully I didn‘t get any funny looks at work from all the gasps 😄 Fantastic read 👍

This is a fantastic book! Dating sites are a thing of the past in this novel and MatchDNA is the way people find love. People send in their DNA swabs and who they are matched with is indiscriminate. The story focuses on 5 different characters who each find their DNA match. I enjoyed each character‘s story. The novel is both character driven and suspense novel!

Torn between a so-so and a pan. This just wasn‘t for me. It‘s a fast read, but the multiple story-lines felt too loosely connected and the overarching plot was basically non-existent. It doesn‘t feel like a thriller to me—it has the right elements, but the not punch. ⭐️⭐️

This book makes you forget about Tinder, POF, match .com, and even the thought of meeting in a bookshop. What if you could be matched with your person by DNA?

This was definitely a thriller that did not disappoint. Five glowing stars for its twists (yes there were multiple ones), variety of defined characters, and it‘s overall concept.

(Luckily, I won‘t ever need to seek out such a dating concept anyway - because I‘ve found the one for me.)

I am behind on my reviews and am going to try to get caught up in the next day or two.
I finished this one last week. A scientist has found that we can be connected to our soulmate through DNA-our perfect match. This book is told from five different POVs and the story of how things go when they are matched with the one. There were some great twists (I gasped more than once) and some great cliff hangers. I highly recommend this one-very unique.

This was a compulsively readable page-turner with whiplash inducing twists and turns. I have been reading it all day and couldn't stop until it was over! Set in a near-future UK where a supposedly infallible DNA test promises to find your soulmate, The One follows several result recipients through fateful decisions and unforeseen consequences. Oh, and one of them's a serial killer. This was one wild ride!

Oh my goodness, what a clever, addicting book, though not the greatest cover, right? I couldn‘t put it down. Never a dull moment!! There were so many things I loved about this book: all sorts of twists and turns, following five different people that were easy-to-remember in an uncomplicated way, being left on the edge-of-your-seat short chapter after short chapter, and a premise that made you think, wonder, and rationalize throughout. A winner.
