Somebody's Daughter
Somebody's Daughter | David Bell
In the pulse-racing new suspense novel from the bestselling and acclaimed author of Bring Her Home and Since She Went Away, the life of a little girl rests in the hands of the father who never even knew she existed... When Michael Frazier's ex-wife, Erica, shows up on his doorstep pleading for help, she drops a bombshell that threatens to rip his family apart: Erica's nine-year-old daughter is missing--and Michael is the father. Unable to quickly determine if Erica is telling the truth, and unwilling to leave the little girl's fate to chance, Michael has no choice but to follow the elusive trail of the child he has always wanted and never knew he had. But finding Felicity comes at a price--the closer Michael gets to the truth, the further into jeopardy his marriage falls and the faster his family begins to unravel. As lies that span a decade bubble to the surface and the window for Felicity's safe return closes, Michael will have just a few short days to decide who can be trusted and who is hiding the truth.

Today‘s Prompt: MISSING PERSON

MYSTERY - THRILLER

A nine-year-old is missing.

Did she run away or was she kidnapped.

Kidnapped is the consensus.

The suspect could be anyone - a single person or a team.

The drama begins with the ring of the doorbell.

I love David Bell. A child goes missing and the mother never told the father that he had a child. He gets caught up in the search for the missing child - but is she really his?

I found this book to be a little long and drawn out, but at the same time, it had a surprise at the end of every chapter. He has you following 3-4 different groups of people at once, but makes it easy to revert back to and dig back in. Interesting turns at every corner in this one!

"Michael felt a tightness in his chest, an adrenaline-fueled pressure. He looked back over the events of the past couple of hours, the way one ring of his doorbell changed his evening into something he couldn‘t have imagined in his wildest dreams. Or nightmares. Just being gone for such a short time...made home seem even farther away than it was. It would have been so easy to have stayed there, to shut the door on Erica‘s face." #WeekendReading?

SOMEBODY'S DAUGHTER by David Bell.

Another winning read.

The drama begins with the ring of the doorbell.

SOMEBODY‘S DAUGHTER is filled with Mr. Bell‘s signature tension and suspense. His hints and hanging situations at the end of each chapter were strong enough to make you not want to stop reading.

This one felt longer than it needed to be. The story is broken up into little chapters alternating between three characters, all leading to the discovery of what happened to a missing little girl and who the girl‘s father really is. I did like the ending but would have enjoyed it more if some of the extraneous storyline and characters had been edited down. 🌟🌟🌟
