Part of Your World
Part of Your World: A Twisted Tale | Liz Braswell
What if Ariel had never defeated Ursula? It's been five years since the infamous sea witch defeated the little mermaid... and took King Triton's life in the process. Ariel is now the voiceless queen of Atlantica, while Ursula runs Prince Eric's kingdom on land. But when Ariel discovers that her father might still be alive, she finds herself returning to a world--and a prince--she never imagined she would see again.

Really enjoyed this reimagining of The Little Mermaid! The story Picks up 5 years after Ariel made her deal with Ursula, and I enjoyed every minute of it, but I‘ve liked all the Twisted Tales I‘ve read so far.

Years later, after Ursula won, Ariel hears King Triton is alive and attempts a rescue. Still no voice; sign language was nice. The idea that these teens are older and wiser is my fav part. Both Ariel and Eric have a new view on life, and how impulsivity is important to planning against a sea witch who thrives on manipulation. That their people come before love. Liked exploring under the sea and Dry World effects. full ending was a quick mess, thou

Bookish_Gal Like they got Ursula by a dagger, somehow getting her. I am extremely confused by that point. 6mo

This was my first book of this group. I like the idea of an alternate ending to the original Little Mermaid. But I feel this was a very predictable book. There are so many more details and story lines that could have been involved..

I love twists on Fairy Tales and the little mermaid is one of my favorite Disney movies. I got this for Christmas and finished it in a day. A whole new spin on the story. Need to find more of these.

Cinfhen Love the little mermaid too!! 1y

5✨ I really like fairy tale retellings, but the twistier the better. What if Ursula was not defeated? This story starts off years later when Ariel still doesn‘t have her voice, Eric is still under a spell, and Ursula is still posing as Vanessa. When Ariel finds out that her father may still be alive and Eric comes out of the spell a partnership is formed to take Ursula down once and for all.

This was a unique read. I love reading the Twisted Tales series. This one was amazing. It gives more details to the original story. The ending completely took me surprise. I would definitely read this again. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have seen many of these Disney twisted tales, and always wanted to read one.
I really enjoyed this one as it played on the original story, but gave The Little Mermaid a different ending. I can't wait to read another one of these twisted tales.

I wanted to try another author of the Twisted Tale series. Reflection was good, but I liked this one better! I enjoyed Braswell‘s storytelling style more, like her shifting narrators. I also liked how the “twist” here was more severe. In Reflection, Mulan spends 1 night in the underworld for Shang. In this novel, Ariel loses the fight against Ursula and is mute for 5 YEARS while ruling Atlantica, leading to more character growth with redemption.

I didn't enjoy this one as much as Reflection, but it was still a fun retelling. Both Ariel and Eric are older in this one and Ursula/Vanessa has been on land and married to the Prince for several years because Ariel didn't defeat her.

I really liked seeing Ariel as Queen of the Sea, and watching her rule the kingdom in her father's absence. Plus, this one has Scuttle, and he's one of my favorite characters in the Disney movie.

A fun twist on a classic story. With Ariel as the Queen of the Sea, she is on a mission to save herself, her father and the people of Truilia. If you enjoy Little Mermaid, you will love this book.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but this one was kind of slow for me. It started slow and didn‘t pick up until about page 250. So for me it was just in the middle. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I LOVE fractured fairy tales. And this one is no exception. It was fun to see how the responsibilities of being queen changed Ariel; and five years after Ursula won the final battle that isn‘t the only change. What a great book - I loved it!! I can‘t wait to read the rest of the series!!

Thanks again to @kstadt929 for this amazing book - great choice! And thanks to @TheBookKeepers for all the fun of #justabookswap

My #FebruaryTBR. Not pictured are the leftover Colleen Hoover books I checked out mid-January. Hamilton is an audiobook via #Libby. The three physical books have all come highly recommended... I picked up Sometimes I Lie & The Breakdown at B&N with the 2 for $10 sale. Part Of Your World is an ebook I got several months back. The coffee mug represents this month's #CoffeeBeanBookClub pick 📚☕

vkois88 @Jee_HookedOnBookz so... it's a series in terms of they're all retellings of popular Disney tales. But they're are also each stand alone since they're all based on different stories. I hope that makes sense ?? Like the tag line for Part Of Your World is "What If Ariel Had Never Defeated Ursula?" 5y
