Today is my birthday!🎂 🎉 And my sweet sister gave me this nostalgic book!(She is an Usborne book lady, clearly we all love books in my family 🤗) Our dad used to read to us every night before bed when we were little and this book was one of our favorites! You‘re never too old for a little nostalgia 💜📚 Did any of you read this or watch the movies of it?
It was so lovely to return to Avonlea after so many years through Rachel McAdams‘ narration of this classic! I love and admire and could use a lot more of Anne‘s enduring optimism, expansive dreams, and big eyes so ready to see beauty in everything.
Here and there a wild plum leaned out from the bank like a white-clad girl tip-toeing to her own reflection. From the marsh at the head of the pond came the clear, mournfully-sweet chorus of the #frogs. There was a little gray house peering around a white apple orchard on a slope beyond and, although it was not yet quite dark, a light was shining from one of its windows. #QuotsyApr19 #frog
1. For once I can't write The Chase! 😂😂😂 Scooby-Doo @BarbaraTheBibliophage
2. Glasgow, as most of my fave actors come from there @Melissa_J
3. Depends on mood & then choose by genre. @emtobiasz
4. Tagged @youneverarrived
5. Any popular authors you've read multiple books of but just can't get into? I've just started my 3rd Gaiman & think I may have found my way into his work!
Though it's my first time reading Anne I have read a few L.M. Montgomery books before now and the thing I love best are her descriptions of nature. I always want to be transported to whichever spot she's describing. I wonder if PEI could still be as beautiful as she says or if a visit there now would be disappointing...? 🤔
I often feel I'm one of maybe 8 North American women who have never read Anne. I always figured I'd get to some day and now I am. 😊 #audiocommuting
1.50/50 these days.I long to return to the fantastical dreams of my youth. I don‘t dream journal but if it‘s particularly memorable I‘ll make note of it. I recently found a note about baseball players pouring soup on themselves.
2. A Wooly Mammoth or triceratops, lion or gorilla. Names tbd but something like Remington.
3. Ann(e) Shirley.
4. I‘ve dreamt of Prince Edward Island since childhood bc of Anne.
Look what my son picked out for me. An Anne of Green Gables journal! He knows me so well. It combines two of my most favourite things - AOGG and journalling. Such a sweet surprise from my oldest boy. Don‘t tell my other two kids but right now this child is my favorite! 😂
Just a quick #PinkBooks post. And I didn't realise I have so many pink books til now!! 😱
Jane Eyre is definitely one of my favorite books& I only read it few years ago! But its changed my view about Classics! Didn't know I like them til I read them. #True
P.S. found more pink books after this shot, so might post more later 😆🙌💗📚

Listening to this one on audiobook, I like it so far but I have some concerns about a few details. Mrs. Lynde was knitting a quilt - no, you don‘t knit a quilt, you quilt a quilt.... and Marilla keeps “ejaculating” can‘t she just use the word “exclaimed” instead? I want to laugh every time they say it!
"Anne of Green Gables" by LM Montgomery is a classic HF book that would be great for an IR. It tells the story of orphan Anne Shirley. Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert want to adopt a boy to help out around the farm, and instead the quirky and imaginative Anne shows up! I loved this book when I was in elementary school and Gilbert Blythe was my first literary crush!! #LAE3414sp19
Anyone who knows me knows my ALL-TIME FAVOURITE book is Anne of Green Gables! Since I first read it when I was 10 years old it has given me solace, hope and joy. Every time I read it (and I have read it MANY times) I laugh at the same moments and cry at the same moments. Every time I read it I am “home.” I have quite a collection of L.M. Montgomery books and books about her. Her personal journals are heartbreaking.
I‘m late, but thanks for the tag, @phatsallylee 🥰
1. Spring or Autumn, depending on which one is closer. 😊
2. Lilacs 💜
3. Anne, because it really would be lovely to sleep in a cherry tree in bloom in the moonshine. 💕
4. Seasonal... much worse in the fall. 🤧
5. @robinb 😃
Thanks for your #GiGiBookBox giveaway, @GondorGirl 🎉!
For my favorite location from a book, I surprised myself by picking a real, documented place vs. a fantasy land: Prince Edward Island! All of that natural splendor, described in Anne Shirley‘s tirelessly optimistic voice? How could I not? I dream about taking a Girls‘ Week there with my IRL book club. 💕 If only it weren‘t so darn tricky to get to! Easier than Narnia, maybe, but still...

I had to wrack my brains but it came to me this morning — Anne has the best friendships. Her faith in humanity conquers prejudice, disadvantage, and self-doubt. Each friend she makes she invests in with her whole being. She even makes friends with the trees and the sunset.
My #February #wrapup. Thanks to #HalfBloodBingo, it was a surprisingly excellent reading month. I'm hoping I can carry that momentum into next month. Of course, I'm already nearly 30 reviews behind here on Litsy, so at this rate I won't be caught up until Easter. 😂 Proud of myself regardless!
A great big “Happy Birthday” to you, @rubyslippersreads !
Anne is joining Laura Ingalls as one of mine and Bella‘s favourite ever characters! We loved Anne and her Imagination and I loved reading this for the first time with Bella, my own little red-head with a big imagination. And of course I chose this edition because of that cover! Part of the Puffin in Bloom collection 🌷 #raisingreaders
Finally joined the club after 28 years and read Anne of Green Gables for Episode 33 of my podcast! Tune in to find out what took me so long and to hear me chat all things Anne Shirley. What do we think of Anne as literary heroine? How do we interpret her work vs. family decision? Why do little girls love this story so much? Is there any chance that Anne might be a liiiittle annoying? click the link in my bio to listen! 🌸🎧
Anne arrived as an orphan at Green Gables with nothing more than a beaten up carpet bag and her imaginative spirit. It didn‘t take Anne long to win the hearts of the characters around her, and the reading world in general. #StartedfromtheBottom #Canadianauthor 🇨🇦
These are my original copies of my #favoriteseries. Over the years only one has been misplaced. You can tell that they are well loved. I cannot even begin to count how many times I reread them when I was a child. #24in48
