Stacy_31 Looks great!! The only thing I can see is that in each of the top corners, you forgot to do 3dc, ch3, 3dc. It looks like instead, you did 3dc, chain 3, and moved on to the next space. That's why the corners are too rounded. 😊😊 5y

Kaye Great start. I agree with @Stacy_31 The 2 top corners are rounded. I think you missed the 3 dc, ch _, 3dc. Different granny square patterns have different numbers of chains between the dcs. Try to redo those then show another pic. You‘ll get it. 5y

PerksOfBeingABookworm My grandma just taught me how to do these! My granny stressed that when you‘ve gone all the way around the row, make sure you slip stitch the two ends together before you start the next row. I can‘t tell if you did that or not because I barely know how to do them myself 🙈 but granny said it was important. Once you get the rhythm of the pattern, it will be a breeze. You‘re doing great! I love the color too. 5y

DGRachel @4thhouseontheleft Exactly! Blue is my favorite color, so I am seriously thinking about doing another one with low temperatures. A Charlotte one will still have plenty of green and yellow (60s and 70s) in the summer months, but we do get chilly in the winter. 😊 6y

I‘m actually hoping I don‘t have to use the Autumn Red at all, either. Triple digit heat with East Coast humidity is a killer!😱 And thank you! It‘s been a fun project. 6y

Riveted_Reader_Melissa I‘m in Pennsylvania, and I was just a few degrees short of autumn red today. It was in the high 90‘s, with heat index/humidity of over 100. But of course we also get the freezing winter temps too. Sometimes even some negatives...so I knew from your temp. range you had to be a just few states south of me. 6y

Dolly I picked up a coffee mug in San Diego that said something to the effect that everyday is sunny and 70. But then earthquakes 6y

April rows are finally finished on my #temperatureafghan!! It‘s nice to only be a month and a half behind. 🤦🏻‍♀️ High temps were all over the place -lots of jumping between the 60s (green), 70s (yellow), and 80s (orange).

DGRachel @Sarah1960 It‘s a version of Apache Tears. I found a video on YouTube via Pinterest that showed how to do it. It‘s easy enough for someone with only a basic knowledge of crochet can do (that‘s me), but the zig zag nature of the design creates a lot of visual interest. 6y

IamIamIam @Kaye I'm actually taking over the class, which starts next Wednesday, because the instructor pulled out. It's a beginner class that is going to learn how to make a granny square blanket so that's already been set. I'm most nervous about having to show people a skill that I've been doing automatically! Lol, I need a lesson plan and I need to start with the basics. I'm a tour guide at a museum too so pubic speaking is the easy part! 🤣 6y

Kaye I bet you‘ll do just fine. Sounds fun. I went to a knitting class many years ago because it seems harder to learn . I can do the basics but nothing fancy. Hope your class goes great and you have a good time. 👍 6y

IamIamIam @Kaye Aww, thanks!! I have knit 4 things and I hated every second of it! My brain is wired to manipulate one hand at a time so knitting is insanely hard for me. Then, there's the right side and wrong side... I just couldn't do it! I'm proud of you for even trying!!! 😄 6y

Not book related: a friend posted on Facebook about temperature afghans, where you crochet one row per day in a color to represent that day‘s high temp. I found a chart on Pinterest that uses my fav yarn and decided to be brave and try a modified Apache tears/zigzag pattern. I need to set up bujo pages to track the high temps still, but my first skeins of yarn came today. I see lots of #audiocrochet in my future!

DGRachel @robinb I have a hard time letting go of the strict pattern mindset when I quilt (I do NOT do scrap quilts well at all. I find them so stressful). I think having a unique stitch pattern will help me with working on this and just letting the lack of color control go. 😊 6y

This weekend I crocheted this wonderful tote/purse. I‘m loving it! Crocheting while listening to an audiobook is the best. I will be looking for my next project idea. It may be a poncho or shawl, who knows.
