I‘m alive I swear! First time this week being able to go through the mail. Got some books and #LitsyLove I will respond as soon as I have time. Graduation was yesterday so seniors are out of the way. My sophomores are fine but my juniors, oh my god it‘s a battle of wills at this point. I‘m so exhausted. At this point I don‘t even care that Yumi is on the table, or that I‘ve been relying on takeout and my own kids well, yeah.

Amandajoy I like adulting. I‘m going to start adding that to my to do lists. 2w
LibrarianJen @Amandajoy it‘s including but not limited to: dishes, laundry, scrubbing toilets, paying bills, pulling weeds etc. It‘s obvi not my favorite. 2w
Amandajoy But saying “I did some adulting this weekend” sounds so much better than “I scrubbed toilets”. Plus, if you only get half those chores done, you still did adulting. 2w

We are reading Night in the 10th grade inclusion English class that I help out in. The gen-ed teacher recreated a mini interactive holocaust museum and the students went from station to station with a person card. They took a visual tour of Auschwitz, heard a speech by Himmler, learned about propaganda, art, music, poetry and at the end they learned if their person died or not. It was pretty amazing and the students all loved it. ⬇️

LibrarianJen There were also a lot of somber faces and some tears. It was a tough lesson for them, but an important one. 2w
AlaMich That sounds incredible! It‘s a real problem, the fact that the Holocaust is taught in fewer and fewer classrooms. Now more than ever, students need to be exposed it, and to other similar historical events. 2w
GingerAntics That is such a great way to teach about the holocaust!!! What‘s such a great idea! 2w

I want to get away from FB, it‘s not the first time I‘ve said this, but I really want it to be the last! But I don‘t know much about Instagram and I was really active on Twitter back in the day until I had a stalker and had to wipe all my online accounts.

What do you all use outside of Litsy?
My username on both Insta and Twitter is JenAC83

4thhouseontheleft I only use FB now for a few groups, and school updates (my daughter‘s school is active on FB). I use Insta occasionally, but I‘ve really cut back on social media overall. 4w
rachelm On Twitter I am rmmckenny. And we‘re already friends on Pokémon ??I ditched FB already this year and don‘t miss it 4w
Tamra I haven‘t been on in 3 months and I don‘t miss it or think about it at all. I spend my social media time on Litsy. 😁 4w
See All 30 Comments
wanderinglynn I use FB for a small group of friends/family & a couple groups. Other than Litsy, I use IG & Twitter. IG‘s functions similar to Litsy. It‘s really all about posting photos. I‘m wanderinglynn on IG. On Twitter I‘m wandering_lynn (bookish account) & envtl_lynn (more professional acct). (edited) 4w
JoScho I deleted my FB account a few months ago and it feels amazing. I mostly use Litsy. I have Instagram but I don‘t post-just follow some artists and things like that. 4w
imabusybee I use Bookstragram (insta) handle is owlreviewbooks and I am always here 4w
Dogearedcopy I took all social media apps (except for Litsy) off of my phone years ago and it was a game changer in the best ways. I ended up closing almost all of my accounts and spending way less time in those that remained. I‘m transitioning from the Litsy app to Litsy web as well. I‘m trying to be more present IRL 🙂 4w
JackOBotts I left Facebook in 2014 and haven‘t looked back. A great decision! You can do it! I then got sucked into Instagram, but 2019 has been a year of “IG Free” days...I‘ve only gone on 3 times in the new year! Making it part of my monthly tracking has kept me on track! 🙌🏼 4w
Eyelit I only check Facebook a couple times a month - my main social media outlets are Litsy and Instagram (tho my insta is linked to my fb - so when I post there it usually posts to fb too 😂) 4w
GingerAntics I deleted my FB account a few years ago and I couldn‘t be happier. I recently dropped IG because that‘s FB too, actually. I miss when it was about photos and photography before FB bought it and turned it into the selfie capital of the world. I use Litsy mostly and twitter to connect with my favourite authors and fandoms. (edited) 4w
GingerAntics @Dogearedcopy there is Litsy on the web now? I looked for it a couple times a while back. I could love to be able to browse Litsy from my computer. 4w
rretzler I still have a profile on most social media - but now it‘s mostly because I have 2 teens. I rarely check or post myself any more, exceptions being Pinterest, Litsy, LibraryThing, and GoodReads, and it‘s ALL book related. 📖😜 4w
Dogearedcopy @gingerantics Yeah! litsy.com/web :-) 4w
GingerAntics @Dogearedcopy I‘ve apparently been doing this all wrong. Thanks! 4w
tournevis I have an IG account and I lurk on Tumblr. I am not on FB and I have more or less left TW (I tweet once or twice a month; it's a cesspool). 4w
Annl @Dogearedcopy I did not even know there was a Litsy.com. Thanks @LibrarianJen I have Litsy and Litsy. I use Instagram for my knitting and to follow Alan Cummings. He does a great “Saturday night ion broadway”. But I do not have the Instagram app. I feel free. I only look up specific things even when it comes to news. If I have to thinks about searching for something, I have to really want to know about it. I am more present in my own life. 4w
Zelma I don‘t use a lot of social media. Goodreads only to keep stats on my books (I don‘t chat or review my books nor do I keep a TBR, I just maintain my read list). I did use FB a lot as I am in charge of my library‘s FB page. But I keep a pretty small friend list on my personal page and unfollow/unfriendly/hide posts very liberally. 4w
Zelma @Dogearedcopy omg, this may change my life! 4w
Purrfectpages I didn‘t know Litsy had a website. I admit I still scroll through Facebook. More so than Instagram and I barely use Twitter. I just don‘t get it. 4w
CouronneDhiver Just Litsy. It‘s been great 👍🏽 If my family/friends want me to see their photos and such, they just text or email. 4w
LibrarianJen Thanks everyone! @4thhouseontheleft @wanderinglynn @rretzler @purfectpages All my real life friends are on FB and some that live far away so it's hard to completely disconnect from them.

I love epistolary novels! I don‘t know what it is about a book written about people writing, and reading those writings, that‘s so intriguing. Maybe it‘s a form of voyeurism.

Dash finds a notebook in the stacks at the Strand and it leads him on a scavenger hunt put together by Lily. They then go back and forth leaving clues for each other and revealing their inner thoughts to each other and meeting each other‘s friends and family along the way.

Don‘t even ask me how my spring break reading goal is going. The one where I‘m not supposed to read any new books until I finish the half-read ones on my shelf. But I HAD to take the goobers to storytime, which just happens to be in the children‘s section, in which you HAVE to walk by the YA section. There isn‘t any way around it. These 4 books just somehow slipped into my library bag as I walked by.

At least I avoided the adult section. 😳

So I‘ve been on Litsy since almost the beginning. 3 years!!!! Back in the day there wasn‘t a who to follow list really so I just kind of searched for people by the letter of the alphabet. 🤣 There also wasn‘t a #litsywelcomewagon or anything so it was just sink or swim. My first post was the tagged book. I had to scroll a few posts up to find any likes/conversations.
#firstlike

Texreader I remember those days! I was so particular about who I wanted to follow: that they would like the same books as me! Ha! I‘m so glad so many Littens have expanded my reading horizons! 2mo
LibrarianJen @Texreader I was the same, except I was also embarrassed that I liked YA and erotica both so I tried not to post about it because I wanted street cred. I too have read quite a few books because of Litsy that I generally would have never even looked at. 💖 2mo

2 teens are trapped in a library, they get to know each other and end up helping each other with their problems. My only beef with the book is the libraries lack of technology and closing procedures. No phone? Computer? Panic button? Then again, there wouldn‘t have been a story.

I was totally Autumn in this story. I too hid my anxiety and panic attacks from my friends, and did everything that was expected of me, even if it made things worse.

At first I was perplexed, what could you possibly have sent me? Something from the bowels of the Rochester library? Then I opened the box, before reading the card, and I laughed so hard! You have totally made my day! 😘

About a month ago I posted on FB about how my green pen died and it‘s what I use for novel writing. A few of my colleagues gave me green pens they found in their draws but this, this is just amazing!

BooksTeasAndBookishThings Awww this warmed my heart so much! ❤️ 3mo

1. #LitsyGoesPostalOG and #LitsyLove sometimes I remember to do other things like #friYAYintro
2. I‘ve recently surprised myself by going to a writing group. It‘s at night which I don‘t normally do and it‘s with you know, people! This in no way means I‘m coming out of my introverted shell.
3. “Dude, I don‘t have time for pothead poetry here,” Norris said.

It was 30 degrees when I left this morning and it‘s supposed to be 70 when I get off work! I decided it was time to get off my lazy butt and walk to work despite that I have to walk with the students.

Anyways, I‘m listening to SoA right now because my therapist of all people wants to talk about Circe. He has a total crush on the narrators voice. He said I needed to read this one first though. #audiowalking #noexcuses #ItsGreatToBeAHawk

LibrarianJen I took a lot of mythology classes in undergrad so I‘m loving this version of Achilles. 3mo

I‘ve received my first #LitsyLove ! 💖💖💖
So perfect for a windy Monday after a wonky day at work. Actually every day is wonky at work, but the veritable weather makes it even worse for me and my students.

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks So happy they made it and thank you again!! 😘💗 3mo

Sitting in writing group and they are trying to get me to read this book. It‘s huge! I don‘t have time for that. Then I remembered asking about writing books on Litsy and everyone said to just jump in, don‘t read how-to books, and readers make the best writers.

I think I‘ll stick with my Litsy family on this one. 💖

1. Ventana Ranch. A suburb area of North West Albuquerque.
2. It‘s alright I have a huge backyard! If I didn‘t have kids though I would want something more urban. Maybe a loft above a shop.
3. 💖💖💖
4. Probably at night since I work during the day
5. 🤷🏼‍♀️ but my writing group meets at Starbucks at 7:30!

(Not in Litsy DB. Tagged book is part of same series.) remember in early December I was desperate to find a cheesy holiday romance since I no longer get the Halmark channel? Well I picked this solely on the cover and this hold finally came in. Turns out it was a gay romance. Also turns out it was absolutely perfect and Paul the main character likes to watch cheesy Halmark Christmas movies too! I kind of already want to re-read it. 💖🎄🌈

Dragon Sounds good, stacking 😀👍 3mo

Only 19 pages in but. Norris has me cracking up! A teenager form Quebec, his mom took a job in Texas. The Guidance Counselor didn‘t realize he was bilingual and keeps trying to to talk to him in French. Totally had me thinking of Disociable Me.

Oh my gosh, I love kimchi so much! My co-teacher is Korean and her mom makes real kimchi. She even buries the jars in the ground for like 3 months. It‘s so good and it really is addicting. 😋

Merethebookgal Yesss! I love kimchi, too! 😋 3mo
BarbaraTheBibliophage I haven‘t gotten to the addicted part of kimchi yet. 3mo
QueenAnne Hmmm yes I like Kimchi too 😍I‘m almost certain one of my cousins is addicted to it 😆 3mo
Aloisi_tribe My family and I were stationed in Seoul for 2 1/2 years. We got to try all different kinds of kimchi. My favorite was the white radish kimchi but it is very hard to find it here in the states. You‘re lucky to know someone who can make their own. 😍 3mo

Oh my gosh you guys! My father-in-law installed another part of my bookcases (2 more to go!) and I‘ve been unpacking books that have been in boxes forever. Look at these drool worthy 90‘s covers!!! I used to get these at Hastings way back in the day. I might just have to take a break from unpacking and dive into one of these. 💖💖💖

tournevis It's amazing! As my friend Jo would say, beware the suck fairy! 3mo
Stephaniereads1 The covers are awesome. I love reading my old Judy Blume and sweet valley high or baby sitter‘s club. Lol 3mo
LibrarianJen @Stephaniereads1 i have my old Judy Blumes, and a handful of boxcar children. I think I only got Babysitters and Sweet Valley High from the library. I wish I had those. 3mo

Reggie Oh, Hastings, why did you close?!!! 3mo
LibrarianJen @Reggie My Hastings was right next to the grocery store we went to, so it was super close and a huge part of my teenage life. Now there is a church in the building. 💔😭 3mo
Reggie There was one in Santa Fe that I used to go to, but when I lived in Las Cruces, Hastings introduced me to all the foreign films I never knew existed. Hastings is where I found Chuck Palahniuk, where I found short story zombie anthologies. 😭RIP. 3mo
