This novel was nothing like I thought it would be. It was perfectly dark and gothic and not a story about a monster but a story about mankind and their relationship with God.

Mary Shelley‘s book asks the question “what makes us human?” Frankenstein‘s creation is called a monster, and yet is capable of speech, thought, emotion #HumanNature #Movember @Cinfhen
The idea of creating a monster probably counts as #WeirdScience #NamasteNovember @Eggs

2/5 ⭐️s I probably would have given up on this book if it wasn't for my local book club. So many parts dragged on when it could have been so much shorter. Very different from the stories and movies you get about Frankenstein though.
1- Mary Shelley and Patrick Ness.
2- is be too nervous to ask questions so I‘d just want to listen to them talk and be themselves. All casual and relax. While I imagine this we are having drinks in Al‘s Den in PDX. 😂
3- too many to count. 😝
4- anyone who hasn‘t done this already.

A very hard day ended with a bedtime read makes it much better 🥰🤓 am I the only one that gets major Hygge on nights like this?
A picture of Mary Shelley's husband who himself was a published poet.
A wonderful written dark and poignant book about creation, humanity and life. ⭐⭐⭐ ⭐
I attended Alberta Ballet‘s thrilling adaptation of this tale last night. It was outstanding. They transposed the setting to North America and used Trump‘s home in Florida, Mar-a-Lago, as the place where Victor grew up. #modernrelevance
I‘m glad I finally got to read this wonderful story. I‘m shocked at how poorly it‘s been adapted in the movies. Frankenstein “monster” is a creature of depth and feelings wanting only to experience what so many take for granted. The connection of family and friends and the warmth that brings to humans lives. Victor had all those things and his neglect towards his creation lead to the destruction of his loved ones. #TeamSlaughter

Happy Halloween from Frankenpug!
(Yeah, yeah - I know Frankenstein is the doctor, not the monster, but Dr Frankenpug‘s Monster doesn‘t work for the pun!)
#fallisbooked
I am using the tagged book for this prompt for my #52booksin52weeks challenge as even though I technically read 3 gothic books and I am trying to start a Halloween tradition to read/listen to this collection as I bought it last year and read/listen to them for the first time. This year it fits this prompt nicely.

Happy Halloween fellow book lovers!

Feel like Halloween is the perfect day for sharing this quote from Frankenstein, which is a book I utterly love.
“As night approached I found myself at the entrance of the #cemetery... Everything was silent except the leaves of the trees, which were gently agitated by the wind; the night was nearly dark, and the scene would have been solemn and affecting even to an uninterested observer. The spirits of the departed seemed to flit around and to cast a shadow, which was felt but not seen, around the head of the mourner.” #QuotsyOct19
I greatly need a friend who would have sense enough not to despise me as a romantic, and affection enough for me to endeavor to regulate my mind.
Staring this before work

Enjoying coffee in my new mug while starting Frankenstein for my local book club
It's the one time of the year that bookish gear seems to make it into every shop window! 🙌 🙌 🙌
The quote is from Frankenstein, by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ When I (finally) read Frankenstein last year, it swiftly earned a spot in my favorites. Young Shelley‘s gothic horror classic is bold and intricate, horrific and touching. It‘s evokes compassion in unexpected ways. A brilliant and scarily timeless work of art.
“You are my creator, but I am your master — obey!”
This is by far one of my favorite books of all time. Shelley is a bad ass! There‘s no ounce of Hollywood and it‘s vernacular of Frank that can convey this story
▶️🎧🏃🏼♀️ Beautiful 4mi run on the greenway with Frankenstein in my ears. Everything is still pretty green in Tennessee, but the weather has finally cooled off and I‘m here for it!
This is a great book. Horror at its best in the day. A perfect horror for me and only the second classic I‘ve ever read.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ I wasn‘t a big fan of this, but they can‘t all be winners!
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein:The Graphic Novel

4.0/5.0
This graphic depiction stay true to Shelley's story withoutvthe epistolary storyline. The graphics are good, but the faces are creepy.

Saturday morning classic! This one is almost as good as Frankenstein meets the Wolfman. @TheReadingMermaid #teamstoker #scarathlon
In my happy place hoping to finish this one up before I have to go into work today.( Don't they know that Saturday's are for reading and Caturdaying?! Anyway..) This book couldn't be further from what pop culture has portrayed this story as. It's very flowery and verbose but enjoyable.
