Hey Litsy Community! I‘ve been really off and on here lately— I‘ve got a lot of things going on and haven‘t been reading nearly as much as I want to. But! I did start a side business creating and selling resources—mostly for ESOL teachers, but I have some ELA resources, too! I know we‘ve got a lot of teachers here, so I wanted to share my new venture with you guys. As always, thanks for your support and I can‘t wait to leave my next book review!

julesG Cool idea! Best of luck with the venture. 2mo

Trying to choose which book to read. I am in the mood for some mystery, but also something pretty light hearted so I‘m leaning toward trying out Arsenic and Adobo tonight. We‘ll see which one I end up reading!

beeweird I LOVED Arsenic & Adobo! Surprisingly light-hearted murder and a unique family kept me in good company 😊 3mo
hermyknee @beeweird yes! Okay Arsenic & Adobo is the one I‘m reading now and I‘m finding it to be the perfect book to help me wind down in the evening. I just started a new job at a new school and even though the environment is supportive, I find myself frazzled. This is a great escape! 3mo

For the most part, I enjoyed this book, but it kind of dragged in the last third. I saw someone call it “wordy,” and I definitely agree that there was a lot of excess narration that slowed everything down. Not necessarily a bad thing, but wasn‘t my favorite. Idk. It was so-so for me.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I really enjoyed this one! The audio reading is incredible. I‘ve read reviews that say it‘s just like in a dark dark wood (I‘ve read that one, too, but so long ago I don‘t remember it well), so I don‘t recommend reading them back to back but once you‘ve read one and totally forgotten what happened, then read the other one. Great distraction! I did figure out a few of the twists, but still enjoyed each reveal.

Completely unable to actually sit down and read anything, but this audiobook has really drawn me in so far—love that each character‘s chapter is read by a different voice actor. I wasn‘t a fan of The Guest List, but I like this one a lot better already. Maybe it‘s the setting or maybe it‘s the readers or maybe it‘s my mood.

Bette I love that Littens don‘t automatically blame the author...sometimes it just happens that way. Nice. 👍 8mo
Megabooks I definitely think this is the better setting! 8mo
hermyknee @Megabooks it really is! 8mo
hermyknee @Bette yes... it‘s definitely taken me some life experience to realize maybe it‘s ME and the time I‘m reading something than the actual book. Especially when it‘s not the writing style itself or the subject matter of the book that bothers me but just a plot that hit me wrong. 8mo

When Maud turned over the future card, I told her something else, something I should have reminded myself of today, and something that gives me comfort. And it‘s this: the cards do not predict the future. All they can do is show us how a given situation may turn out, based on the energies we bring to the reading. Another day, another mood, a different set of energies, and the same question could have a completely different answer.

I‘m more than halfway through. It started out so creepy and promising but at this point, I‘m just bored. I don‘t like ANY of the characters in this book (including the villain).

The author made some choices that bothered me on a personal level as well, so I‘m just going to bail on this one.
