37/22I enjoyed this book about murder and sisters, it was as witty as it was dark. I was listening to it and it felt like it ended very abruptly because I wasn‘t paying attention to how far along it was. But I actually quite liked that. I didn‘t know how it would end but I felt satisfied when it did. #booked2022 #authorborninafrica (Braithwaite was born in Lagos). #192025 #2018

Librarybelle Good choice! I‘ve yet to read this one, but one that works so well for #ReadingAfrica2022 ! @BarbaraBB 2mo

This is a fast paced multigenerational story of twelve Native characters, on their way to the Big Oakland Powwow. The Powwow is a celebration of Native culture. There are substantial cash prizes for the winners of the traditional dance competition. Each of the characters has a reason to attend, and as the time grows closer, their stories intersect. A glimpse into the world of urban Natives. Heart wrenching. #booked2022 #titlerepeatsitself

Cinfhen This was a really impressive debut! I‘m excited to see what the author does next 🤓 3mo
DivineDiana @Cinfhen Yes! When this was One Book Philadelphia, I attended a program at Museum of the Revolution that tied in with the book. It was great! Our group toured exhibits related to Natives and we would stop periodically and listen to readings from the book. It has been sitting on my shelf. If it wasn‘t for Booked2022, it would still be there! 3mo
Librarybelle I have this on my to read list and hope to read it for the same #Booked2022 prompt! 3mo
Cinfhen That‘s so cool, Diane!!! I don‘t think I‘ve ever been to that museum. 3mo
DivineDiana @cinfhen It only opened in 2017. 🙂 3mo
Cinfhen That explains it then 😉 3mo

This is a collection of short stories linked by one subject - immigration. Variations on this subject are moving between loss of the home, searching for peace of mind in a new environment … to the racial impatience, the desire to belonged, losing touch with the traditional values … Very good collection, but as always with short stories - some are stronger than others.

Enjoyed this one. I feel like this is a mix of One by One and The Guest List but I still loved the thrill of the story. A good way to kick of the head! It also checks two challenge boxes! #19822022 #2018 #booked2022 #setinalodge

So this showed up as a memory on Facebook.....I may need to reread this one. Yea I am sitting in #ccscoffeehouse reading again, but using a #starbucks gift card as my bookmark which I found in another #library book. The #crazy thing besides what the cards says is that the gift card was my #besties when she read the book!!!! #2018 #booknerd #frienshipgoals #friendswhobecomefamily #LitsyLove

2018 was a great year for me. I worked part time in a school library, got a semi regular gig on ABC radio and was invited to judge the YA category for the Qld Premier‘s Literary Awards. My pick today might be a bit strange given two very critically acclaimed books were also published. Lenny‘s Book of Everything and Between Us scooped all the awards. But Vanessa really spoke to me and I loved her braveness & intelligence. #tenbooksonedecade #2018
