Getting back into my #audiocrochet habit lately. I've missed combining two of my favourite things, reading and crocheting 📚 🧺 ❤️

KadaGul Work has been hectic lately, and balancing work and life feels like a distant dream. 1mo
ShyBookOwl @KadaGul I'm sorry. It is very hard to balance responsibilities and fun/hobbies. Hang in there! 1mo

Bookwomble A way of creating a generation of unempathetic little Trump clones, perhaps? 🤔 2mo
Bookwomble @TheBookHippie One of the main arguments against universal education in Victorian Britain was that if the working classes were taught the truth about the world they inhabited, there would be revolution, as there had been in France. We did get universal education, but the “truth“ was carefully constructed to preserve the privileges of the elite. (edited) 2mo

Mehso-so

I love McFadden and how ridiculous her twists are, but this one fell a little flat for me. It was fun to listen to while I packed up my house, but the ending left me a little disappointed. I think there were too many POVs, and this from a reader who digs a multi-POV book. This time, it felt like too much build-up for too little payoff.

Only 60 pages in, but it feels like I found a hidden gem here. I stumbled across this series last night and can't put book 1 down. I'm enthralled with the gritty portrayal of an alternate world where cryptids live among us, but after an event called The Reaping, are now feared and have been reduced to abused carnival attractions.

Getting ready to sell our house and the stager came by to give her professional advice, which included telling me I had too many books... she suggested removing most of the books from my BOOKshelves and replacing them with candles, plants, and stock photos. I'm not a violent person, but I was seeing red 😡😅

Sace Full bookshelves wold make me feel at home and therefore more inclined to like the house 😁 4mo
Amiable I would be MORE inclined to be interested in a house with full bookshelves! 4mo

Booksblanketsandahotbeverage At least they didn‘t tell you to reverse them to see the white pages side? 4mo
tpixie Forbid you have BOOKS on your BOOKshelf. Obviously she‘s a non- reader! 4mo
Tamra Ugh - don‘t! Honestly, nothing in the way of people‘s decorating or possessions in the 10 years we spent seriously looking at dozens of houses ever put me off. It was the structure itself, the nonmovable things that mattered. 4mo
ChaoticMissAdventures @Tamra that is how I looked at houses too. But I think a vast majority of people just have zero imagination. They have shown that staging really works to bring in more for the seller. So silly, probably from all those non readers. 4mo
Tamra @ChaoticMissAdventures 🫤Sad for them! 4mo
jen_the_scribe They‘re buying the house, not the shelves (regardless of what‘s in them) lol 4mo
llwheeler I got the same advice when we sold our house 6ish years ago. Packed up over half my books and “prettified“ the shelves as the agent wanted. It was kinda fun for those few weeks. And now all my shelves are happily overflowing again at this house 🙂 (I have my doubts that doing it gave us a faster or better offer though, but who knows) 4mo
ShyBookOwl @llwheeler Haha! That's it. I can't imagine anyone saying, "idk about this house, the current owner has a lot of books." ? the lack of imagination is depressing 4mo
ShyBookOwl @ChaoticMissAdventures @Tamra So true. I don't get it. But I think anyone who has that much trouble seeing past books is going to have a very difficult time choosing a house, anyways. It speaks more to them than my house lol 4mo

This is between a pick and a so-so for me. It's worth noting that the story kept me hooked despite not liking the protagonist AT ALL. I was leaning towards a 4-star rating until the end. I just don't feel satisfied with the way her "growth" was handled. Creepy book, though!

January is a good time to visit the blacklist and clean up the TBR... but I NEVER do. I'm not sure about my physical shelves, but the oldest book on my Goodreads TBR (tagged) was added in 2015... a full DECADE ago 😅😅😅 I think I even own the ebook 🤦🏾‍♀️

ChaoticMissAdventures The last couple of years I have been tackling my GR TBR oldest stuff. I have a handful of stuff from 2022 still to get to this year. But last year anything 2021 or before I did a read or delete. The newer added things might be published before 2022 but not added to the list before then.
