Pouring rain and gusty wind calls for a horror read. I‘m glad I took a quick trip to the library yesterday and got this book. Excited to see what secrets could an abandoned mansion be hiding? 💨🌧

I was planning to give it a ‘so-so‘ but I really liked the MC and the living-dead people in it. So it‘s a soft Pick from me.

This book would be perfect for a buddy-read or a book club. What I love is how seamlessly the author narrates each sister‘s story. Even the minor characters have memorable cameos. Also, I felt that there was a streak of indulgence for the bad guys.
This is one of those books that says so much in just one sentence. An example: Until the nail is hit, it doesn‘t believe in the hammer. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

marleed I read this in early 2021 and it‘s definitely stayed with me. My IRL bookclub allowed each member to submit 3 books for 2022 consideration. This was one my recommendations, but sadly was not chosen. But you and I know the mistake they made! 6mo
BiblioLitten @marleed Oh definitely! What doesn‘t it have… history, politics, relationships, culture. I appreciate the editing because this book could also have dragged on for a bit. Do you have a favourite character? (edited) 6mo
marleed @BiblioLitten Oh I never thought about it, maybe Minerva because there was so much to her story. I can‘t imagine being the first woman to graduate law school in DR only to have the certificate immediately stripped from you for rejecting the advances of an a**hat. 6mo

MsMelissa I liked this one more than I did Rebecca (and I loved Rebecca). 8mo
BiblioLitten @MsMelissa Wow! That says a lot about it. I think it‘s also time for me to give Rebecca a reread. 8mo
Ruthiella There was like a 20 year gap between me reading Rebecca and any other DuMaurier title. I liked My Cousin Rachel a lot. 8mo

BiblioLitten @Ruthiella Mine would be around 10. I think I might buy a copy for myself. 😊 8mo
rretzler I‘m the same. Had this on my list for ages but haven‘t rest it yet. I did enjoy The Parasites many years ago. 8mo
batsy Same! I loved Rebecca for years and years and only got to this a few years ago (and loved it!) 8mo

A very happy birthday to you, Sarah 🎉🎂🎉📚🤗 @TheAromaofBooks

I started at midnight but decided to post this with a #BirthdayBash breakfast. I love how we are celebrating your birthday from different parts of the world. 🥐🍳

I chose your birthday to start a new book, my #halloweenread. This is my second by the author and it is set in the UK.

BiblioLitten I finally got to it, @Ruthiella 🙂 8mo
BrittanyReads This is one of my favorite books! It spooked the crap outta me haha enjoy! 8mo
BiblioLitten @BrittanyReads I‘m enjoying it so far. Did you like The Poison Thread too? That was the first book I read. 8mo

Ruthiella Yahoo! Please let me know how it compares to The Poison Thread/The Corset. 😃 Maybe I‘ll read that next year for the spooky season. (edited) 8mo
TheAromaofBooks Oh my gosh, your breakfast looks amazing!!! And one of my favorite parts of Litsy is connecting with readers everywhere, with all of us bonded together with our love for reading!! ❤ It's just so magical!! 8mo
BiblioLitten @Ruthiella The Poison Thread has a better plot and is more of a thriller than a horror story. I liked this one better than TPT even though I had my reservations with a few plot twists. This definitely spooked me more. 🙂 8mo
Ruthiella @BiblioLitten Cool. I think I will keep it in mind for later this winter or maybe next year October. 8mo
Jee_HookedOnBookz I want your breakfast!!! 😋💕💕 8mo
BiblioLitten @Jee_HookedOnBookz It‘s my go-to lazy day breakfast from a local bakery.😊 8mo

BiblioLitten @readordierachel I thought so too! I actually picked it up after my sister told me that she had trouble reading it. We both loved it after we read it together. 6mo
