Before going in I didn't know much about Jeanette or her work but I really wanted to see what all they hype was about. I enjoyed her narration of this on audio and admire her for her courage in sharing everything that she endured so frankly. I really hope she finds all the happiness 💛
" If you make a girl cry, you must be sorry. If a girl hands you an imaginary phone, you answer it. If a girl reaches for your hand, you take it. In womanhood, all those exchanges become contingent on her ability to pay a price." Part horror, part thriller, part mystery part suspense. So good!
This book gave me SO much anxiety and nightmares! 😬 Several times I found myself wishing I could reach through the page and just slap the crap right out of some of these characters. I was happy when it was over but I'd honestly probably read the next one in the series. Good pick, this one evoked many feelings 😅! @Maggie4483 @LoverOfLearning @rsteve388
"As clear as air. It is the Southern novel taken west, it's colors as translucent and polished as one of those slices of rose agate from a desert shop. Barbara Kingslover can write." -From the NYT book review
? This is my first book by the author and I loved it! Thank you for choosing this one for me @slategreyskies
Finished this one up for #LitsyLoveWritesNBooks Between a so-so and a pick but I always round up. It had some good witchy elements and was a fast read but I couldn't get into it like I hoped to. A few things didn't make sense to me. Probably a right book at the wrong time sort of thing. Looking forward to hearing what you all think of it.

Today was my first day back to work from vacation and my favorite coworker aka my work sister presented me with a Midnight Library Candle, a gift certificate to our local indie book store and a bookish card for my birthday! You can bet that I went directly to the bookstore after clocking out 💗😍📚💕
I had to sneak off to my car on lunch break so I could finish this one up today. Going to go with a soft pick for it. There were some cute parts, just not my cup of tea. It does feel good to cross this one off the Old TBR list, thanks to #trappedonanisland challenge. Book #4 down and I can't wait to see what I "get stuck with" in September. ?
Feeling the #litsylove this month! Thank you all for the sweet cards, wishes and goodies! I had a super day with family. Hit B&N and picked up this copy of Matilda to curl up and get nostalgic with later on. Our dinner destination was also inspired by a #lmpbc book😅 @BookishBelle 's The Art of French Eating left me desperate to try Steak Frites. Sadly there were no steak frites, but we found some other delicious alternatives.
This week is the second time this summer that my vacation plans had to turn into a staycation. So I'm living vicariously through Poppy and Alex this afternoon. 😅
This is also book #4 for #trappedonanisland
Started this little nightmare.
Book #3 for #trappedonanisland
At 32% and I love and hate it so far. The writing is so good, it's got me feeling all sorts of angsty and I can alllllmost actyally smell the decrepitness of this house. 🏚👹😱
Couldn't wait to pick up book 2 so my youngest daughter and I made it a date. Outlander is mine and the bottom 2 and a couple we ordered are hers. Seeing her spend her whole weeks allowance on books brought me back to my own baby bookworm days so we implemented the Mom match (I pay half) so she could afford more books.
We got a beagle for our beagle and now I've got a new little reading companion. This is miss Milly 💖💕🐶🐶
Stayed up waaaaayyyy too late last night finishing this bloody Rollercoaster of a ride! I will be sending this on to the next peep Friday. Excited to see what you all are going to think of it! @rsteve388 @Maggie4483 @LoverOfLearning
I've been listening to this on my drive to and from work and lunch breaks and finally finished it up today. The predictably was both satisfying and disappointing but I really enjoyed Dolly's parts and she was 100% RuthAnna in my imagination. Overall, a soft pick for me. 🎶🎤🎸
Read the bulk of this #staycationintime book on my actual staycation. Vacation fell through so I made the best of it and did lots of reading by the channel. I SO enjoyed this one. So many rich descriptions of beautiful plants and places ♡ It did take a little longer to get through because I was constantly googling images of all the different orchids. I love the way the author tied so many aspects of Orchid history and current culture. 🌸💕
I cannot say enough about how much I love the package that you sent! @AmyG You hit the nail right on the head with your choices in books, snacks, stationary, bookmarks, seeds and PROPAGATION STATION!!! I'm going to dive right into The Orchid Theif today. I saw the film years ago but wasn't aware that it was based in real events/a book and I adore Meryl Streep so totally looking forward to a rewatch after the book! I also have big plans ⬇️
Today I went and saw The Black Phone with my two oldest. (20 & 17) and it gave us all some scares! After we got home, I fired up the kindle so we could read the actual story from the tagged book. Both were good but for once, the movie actually really enhanced the original story. Def reccomend if you like suspense and startles.👌
Finished this one up this afternoon for #lmpbc. Nice pick wasn't 100% what to expect going into this and am glad the author didn'tgo too much into the murders b/c idk how that would have worked with a graphic novel but his reflections were interesting although not super in depth, which I understand, given his age at the time of the " friendship". Thank you for the bookmark ? I will mail this back to you tomorrow.
Hey everyone, maybe I should have posted this sooner but just an FYI that I changed my litsy handle from @mynameisacolour to @HeathHof (I got remarried 7 months ago and am slowly changing all things over to reflect my new last name.) Apologies for any confusion! 😬😁😅
