Thanks for this #Two4Tuesday @TheSpineView and thank you for the tag @RaeLovesToRead 😀

1. Lying Cat from the “Saga” series. Who knew a cat that only says one word could add so much poignancy to a story?! 🙀

2. I appreciate a strong supporting character, but sometimes they can hurt a story if they overshadow the lead. In the tagged book I was more interested in supporting character Snow and didn‘t enjoy the parts when she wasn‘t around as much.

RaeLovesToRead Yes! Lying cat! 😻 And Ghüs! 🦭💕 1mo
DaveGreen7777 @RaeLovesToRead Hee hee, somehow I just knew you (and Pickles) would approve of me nominating Lying Cat! 😸😸 1mo
RaeLovesToRead I am looking forward to when the trade paper backs for new Saga come out... but I think I will be googling the fate of my two faves before I get it. I'm not sure how much more I can take emotionally 😅 1mo

DaveGreen7777 @RaeLovesToRead I hear you. As someone who read “Y The Last Man”, “Runaways” and “Ex Machina”, I know all too well how much Brian K. Vaughan loves to crush his readers very souls as the story approaches the finish line! 😭😭😭 1mo
TheSpineView Great choice! Thanks for playing! 1mo
RaeLovesToRead I have the first Y: The Last man... if it's going to be as emotionally crushing as Saga I'm not sure I'm ready for it haha 😬🤭 I was going to plead for Ghüs' life when I met BKV but I went all shy and just basically just wibbled 🤣 1mo

Thank you for this #Two4Tuesday @TheSpineView 😀

1️⃣ I‘m in the process of selling a house and finding another, so I‘ve been too exhausted to read much lately. 😮‍💨 A graphic novel might be easier to read, so I‘ll try the tagged book that the brilliant @Meaw_catlady gave me! 😊

2️⃣ I love playing symphonic metal while reading. Bands like Nightwish and Epica with their soaring vocals and dramatic compositions are the perfect soundtrack! 🎶

BookDragonNotWorm Good luck with the house selling/buying! 🤞 2mo

“Life and death appeared to me ideal bounds, which I should first break through, and pour a torrent of light into our dark world. A new species would bless me as its creator and source; many happy and excellent natures would owe their being to me. No father could claim the gratitude of his child so completely as I should deserve theirs.”

4 out of five wind sprites! 🧚🏻‍♀️🧚🏻‍♀️🧚🏻‍♀️🧚🏻‍♀️

It‘s a few days since I finished this buddy read with the wonderful @Branwen and I‘m still processing my feelings. While I enjoyed the book, it is my least favorite of the series so far, as I felt the heroes stories went in unsatisfying directions. But while the protagonists got short-changed, the villains shined brighter than ever, thanks to the introduction of the fascinating Raboniel!

Elizabeth2 Haha! Love this photo! 😆 3mo

Thank you for this #Two4Tuesday @TheSpineView 😀

I just realized I still haven‘t posted a review of this book! 😳

1. Raboniel. She‘s everything a book villain should be: charismatic, clever, formidable, and usually at least three steps ahead of the heroes. She‘s so good at being bad, I almost started rooting for her!

2. I‘d like to see the main characters all get happy endings, but since it will be a Sanderson book, that ain‘t happening! 😭

RaeLovesToRead I also kinda loved Raboniel 😄 3mo
DaveGreen7777 @RaeLovesToRead She was glorious! 🤩 3mo

Thank you for this #Two4Tuesday @TheSpineView 😌

1️⃣ Tagged! It can put a lot of pressure on a character to have the whole book named after her, but fortunately Moroda was up to the task!

2️⃣ Hmmm… good question! 🤔 I think usually longer book titles catch my eye more, but there is something admirable about a book that can grab your attention with just one word, like “It” or “Deathless”!

TheSpineView Thanks for playing and happy Tuesday! 3mo

Thank you for this #WondrousWednesday @Eggs 😊

1. Multiple POVs. I love getting different characters perspectives on things, especially if their points of view on events in the book are different from one another.

2. I can only read in English.

3. I‘m a mood reader… but that doesn‘t stop me from making numerous reading lists that I never adhere to! 😂🤣

Alfoster Seriously! Why do we make those lists??😝 4mo

Thank you for this #Two4Tuesday @TheSpineView

1. I‘m hoping to finish both the tagged book and “Frankenstein” this month! I only have 50 pages left in Rhythm of War!

2. As someone who reads a lot of fantasy, I am so sick of everything being described as smelling of “jasmine”! C‘mon, fantasy authors, there are other scents out there! Also, like many readers, I‘m so sick of characters releasing breaths they didn‘t know they were holding! 🤦🏻‍♂️

RaeLovesToRead 50 pages?! You can do it, Dave! I believe in you! 😄😁 There was an interesting passage about Jasmine in the book I'm reading - I'll tag you... 4mo
TheSpineView I have been putting off Rhythm of War since it came out. It is such a HUGE commitment and my hat is off to you for finishing it! 4mo
Branwen I TOTALLY AGREE about the breath releasing thing! I always roll my eyes so hard when I come across it in a book! 😂 4mo

Thank you for this #WondrousWednesday @Eggs 😊

1. “Starless Sea” by Erin Morgenstern, which I recently received from the wonderful @Branwen

2. “Eon” by Alison Goodman, which I recently gifted to the wonderful @Branwen

3. Tagged! In this alternate history, Jean Grey disguises herself as a man to sneak on a ship, and Angel finds himself falling in love with her.
(More in comments).

DaveGreen7777 Later when Angel learns Jean is really a woman, he reflects on how he loved her just the same when he thought she was a man. It was such a beautiful portrayal of everlasting love, as well as representation of LGBTQIA themes at a time when graphic novels almost never included them. 🌈 (edited) 5mo

DaveGreen7777 Thanks @Desha Sadly, we just get used to snowstorms after a while… it gets to the point where if we get less than a foot of snow, we just shrug it off like, “Hey, I don‘t even have to clean off my car for that little snow!” 😂 5mo

Thank you for this #Two4Tuesday @TheSpineView 😁

1️⃣ Not often, but every once in a while, if I‘m at an appointment where I‘m waiting longer than expected and I didn‘t bring a book with me, I‘ll start reading on the Kindle app on my phone. Desperate times and all that!

2️⃣ I love my Kindle Oasis, it even has a warm light option to read comfortably in the dark, so I don‘t have to stop reading for some silly reason like it being past midnight! 🤓

Thank you for this #Two4Tuesday @TheSpineView 😁

1️⃣ Oooh, this is a tough question for me! Usually, I prefer books to have a quicker pace. However, there is something magical about a slow burn done right when the payoff is worth it!

2️⃣ Tagged! I‘m happy when a book has one great twist, but “The Palace Job” has one in almost every chapter. What started as a seemingly breezy heist story turned out to have many more layers than I was expecting!

TheSpineView Thanks for playing! Happy Tuesday! 🤩📖📚 6mo

RaeLovesToRead Sorry, just realised their pronouns are they/them. Look forward to reading the book (and playing the trilogy again) 😊 6mo
DaveGreen7777 @RaeLovesToRead Ooops, I didn‘t know their pronouns either. ☹️ Hope you enjoy the book! I don‘t recall it reminding me of Mass Effect or Dragon Age in any way, other than it features a team made up of several fascinating companions! 6mo
RaeLovesToRead I'm always up for a fantasy heist ❤ 6mo
PathfinderNicole I didn‘t know their pronouns either and changed my original comment accordingly! I can‘t wait to read this one, I might have to move it up my tbr… @RaeLovesToRead I still need to finish playing the legendary edition but I just don‘t want it to end yet!! 6mo
RaeLovesToRead @PathfinderNicole On my phone it won't let me alter comments for some reason so I deleted mine and started again! 🤔🤔 I actually didn't get that far into mass effect the first time because I wouldn't leave the citadel until I'd scanned all those spidery things... and I couldn't find the last one 😭😄 Going to play the trilogy once I've finished Dishonored 2 😊 6mo
DaveGreen7777 @RaeLovesToRead @PathfinderNicole I had such a love/hate relationship with the Citadel in Mass Effect 1! On the one hand, I loved the world building and the glimpse into so many characters lives. But on the other hand… WOW, was there a lot of superfluous fetch quests there, and the completionist in me felt compelled to do every single one! 😩 6mo

1️⃣ Truth be told, I‘m happy to visit any bookstore! But “The Last Bookstore” in Los Angeles sounds especially fascinating with its half-archway made out of used books… I‘d probably try to make out every book title before passing through! 🤓

Thank you so much to all you wonderful Littens for the support you‘ve sent my way while my father was battling cancer. Unfortunately, we lost him on Thursday.
Dad, you were a wonderful father and a wonderful friend. We were so afraid we were going to lose you back in 2015 when you fought cancer the first time, and I am so grateful for that extra time we got together. I will always cherish my memories of you.
I love you, Dad, and I always will! ❤️

Buechersuechtling I‘m no native English speaker so I hope for your forbearance in case my words are wooden. But I wanted to reach out and let you know that I feel you. Last Thursday, it was 6 months ago that I lost my own father and I never would have thought it would be such a deep mark for a “before” and a “after” in my life because I never thought we were as close as we obviously have been. I‘m here if you wish to talk. And I wish you support. (1/2) 10mo

Buechersuechtling Support from friends and neighbours … and maybe from people being strangers to you but having not been strangers to your dad. I deeply wish you have someone by your side whenever things get rough these days so that the way until you reach the point where you can recognise and appreciate warm memories and anecdotes will not be too lonesome and painful. Sending you my sympathy and your family my commiseration. All of you are in my thoughts. (2/2) 10mo

I wanted to let you all know why I‘ve been inactive. My father was hospitalized after a fall last week, and now it looks like he will be battling cancer a third time. 😢 He has a biopsy scheduled for tomorrow, and we are also looking for short term rehab for him to regain his strength. Any prayers, healing energy, and positive vibes you could send him for a full recovery and another successful battle against cancer would be greatly appreciated! 🙏

Thank you for this #Two4Tuesday @TheSpineView and thank you for the tag @DarkMina 😊

1️⃣ Not sure if this counts as a fairy tale, but I always loved “The Starfish Story”. If that doesn‘t count, I‘ll go with “The Princess and The Pea”. It‘s a fun absurd story and it also inspired the hilarious musical “Once Upon a Mattress”!

2️⃣ Once Upon a Time the dogs were brought into the house and they were all good! (Awww, sounds like a happy tale! 🐶)

1️⃣ The Challenger explosion. I still remember the teacher sitting us all down to tell us what had happened and honoring the astronauts.
2️⃣ Bookstore. I want to have my own copy and know it‘s available to me at all times!
2️⃣ Tagged! As a kid I loved mysteries (Encyclopedia Brown, Three Investigators, Hardy Boys), but this one was like none I had ever read before! 😱

peaknit I was in 9th grade when the Challenger happened, that was a tough day. 11mo

RaeLovesToRead I love murder mysteries! Have you read The Murder of Roger Ackroyd? I scored a bit of an own goal when I googled And Then There Were None (the film) a month or so ago and under "People also ask..." there was "Why did [NAME REDACTED] kill everyone?" ... Thanks Google, you spoilery git ??? 11mo
RaeLovesToRead I've just marked my previous comment as spoiler because (thinking idly), it occurred to me that [NAME REDACTED] killing "everyone" might actually mean "everyone" [!!!!!!] making it EVEN MORE SPOILERY than I initially thought. 11mo
DaveGreen7777 @RaeLovesToRead In all fairness to you, that spoiler about killing everyone is really right there in the title, so I think you‘re okay! 😉 I have a copy of “Roger Ackroyd” but I haven‘t read it yet! 😩 11mo
RaeLovesToRead @DaveGreen7777 I probably should have clocked on to that! *hides* 😅 Roger Ackroyd is a masterpiece... highly recommend! 11mo

1️⃣ Hmmm…🤔 When I think of chunksters, I automatically think of the Wheel of Time series, so since the “shortest” book in the main series is around 700 pages long, I‘ll say 700 is the magic number of pages that makes a book a chunkster.📖

2️⃣ I prefer to read one, mainly because if the audiobook narrator isn‘t very good, it can make for a long listen! 😴

Also, tagging the largest book I‘ve read!

TheSpineView You're welcome and Thanks for playing! 🤩🌞📖😊 11mo
DaveGreen7777 @TheSpineView 😀😀😀 11mo
The_Penniless_Author Funny you mention that, I'm reading the Wheel of Time books right now, and even though I gave "500 pages" as my answer to question 1, that number feels a lot less chunky at the moment. ? Especially since I'm on book 4, which is a thousand pages (a "double chunkster"?) 11mo
DaveGreen7777 @The_Penniless_Author HA HA, that‘s how I feel about Brandon Sanderson right now! All his Stormlight Archive books are double chunksters! 😱 11mo

1️⃣ Sylphrena (Syl for short) from “The Stormlight Archives”. 🧚🏻‍♀️

2️⃣ Humor! I love a book character that can make me laugh! Urban Fantasy especially has so many snarky characters with laugh-out-loud dialogue like Joanne Baldwin, Harry Dresden, Justine Jones, and from the tagged book, Kate Daniels! I still chuckle when I think of how Kate met the Beast Lord… “Here, kitty, kitty!” 😂🦁

1️⃣ Tagged! Star Wars was a big part of my childhood, I even had SW toys and action figures. When this book came out, it featured the classic characters and portrayed them so authenticity, I felt like I was a kid in the theatre waiting for the Star Wars theme to start playing!

2️⃣ No preference, I‘ll read stories that take place in any country, real or imaginary!

RaeLovesToRead Aww bless! Star Wars was the first film I ever saw at the cinema (A New Hope). I'm always a bit scared to re-read books that were special to me when I was younger in case they turn out to be naff 😂😂 13mo

#OppositeDay #Light

Some people prefer light reading, but not me! I love heavy books that tackle heavy topics. Although there is one problem... since I prefer books in the 1,000 page range, it doesn‘t do my back any favors trying to lug these tomes around with me! Ouch! 😣

Out of this pile, I‘m tagging the Stephen King book since his novels are usually the exact opposite of light, both in tone and in page count! 😳

For today‘s Opposite Day photo prompt of #First I‘m going with the last book in the Wheel of Time series! I‘m halfway through the series and I absolutely love the characters, so I have such mixed emotions about when I read the last book. While I really want to know how it all ends, once I‘ve finished the series, that means there will be no more books left starring these characters. I‘ll be heartbroken to say goodbye to all of them!🥺

LazyOwl Love the facial expression 😝 1y

Thank you for this #SundayFunday @ozma.of.oz and thank you for the tag, @Branwen 😀

1. I‘ve read Dungeons and Dragons books, but I can‘t think of any books based on video games that I‘ve read. I keep meaning to read the tagged book, which is based on one of my favorite video games ever, Bioshock! 🎮

2. No, I think they‘re adaptations, like movie tie-ins are. 🎥

3. The world of “Red Dead Redemption I/II” would make for a fantastic novel! 🤠

ozma.of.oz My sister showed me the first two Bioshock games. They look amazing! Thanks for sharing! 1y
TheLibrarian Bioshock games fascinate me. I played Infinite and only a small portion of the first one but they are beautiful. Now I need to force myself to play again and deal with the closer combat fighting. 1y
DaveGreen7777 @ozma.of.oz @TheLibrarian Thank you! 😊 Once I beat a game, I rarely go back to it, but I love the first Bioshock so much, I‘ve played through it three times! 😱 1y
RaeLovesToRead BioShock ❤ Red dead redemption ❤ Actually, if you want to read a book that's a bit red dead, I recommend The Sisters' Brothers by Patrick DeWitt. It reminded me so much of the games. 1y

“That is the most ridiculous thing I‘ve ever heard! Robbing Jasnah.”
“Isn‘t it though?”
“Robbing JASNAH?!”
“I know!”
“She‘s never mentioned this, so I bet you did it, didn‘t you? At least, you fooled her for a little while.”
“I totally did! I almost escaped. Except, you know, she‘s Jasnah!”

Rule #1 of the Stormlight Archive... Never EVER mess with Jasnah Kholin! 😳

RaeLovesToRead I knew she wasn't really dead!!! Haha 1y
DaveGreen7777 @RaeLovesToRead If Jasnah was in “Game of Thrones”, she would have won the Iron Throne and vanquished her enemies before the first episode was even over! 😂🤣 1y
LazyOwl 💗 this 😆 1y

Thank you for this #WondrousWednesday @Eggs and thank you for the tag @Branwen 😁

1️⃣ eBooks! I love being able to highlight passages in my eReader, especially when I‘m keeping track of clues to a mystery in the story! 🕵🏼‍♂️

2️⃣ On the Kindle app on my phone in the bathroom at work! (It was either that or listen to people badmouth each other... I made my choice!)🙈

3️⃣ Today I finished a project at work that was causing me a lot of stress! 😅

Branwen YASSSSS TO #2! 😂🤣👏👏👏 Good choice! 1y
Branwen Also! Congrats in finishing your stressful project! 😃👍 1y
Eggs #3: yayyy 😁. Thanks for playing Dave 🥳 1y
DaveGreen7777 @Branwen @Eggs Awww, thank you! 😊 1y

Thank you for #WondrousWednesday @Eggs and thanks for the tag @TheSpineView 😁

1. Voldemort! Wait, that‘s too easy! I‘ll go with Holden from “Leviathan Wakes”. Holden tries to do the right thing, but he‘s also impulsive, narrow minded, and makes so many bad decisions I wanted to smack him off the page!

2. Tagged! Fun book, but a lot of questions were raised about the world of The Hollows and almost none of them were answered!

3. Fairly often.

Eggs I 💗💗 #1 🤣😂🤣. Thanks for playing Dave 👏🏻👏🏻 (edited) 1y
DaveGreen7777 @Eggs 😁😁😁 1y
Branwen Ooooooh I love your answer to number 1! Very thoughtful and SUPER ACCURATE! 🤣😂👍 1y
DaveGreen7777 @Branwen I thought you‘d approve! 😂🤣 1y

Thank you for this #Two4Tuesday @TheSpineView 😊

1. I‘m fine with any setting as long as the story is good! 😁 But I do have a special weakness for gothic settings... foggy streets, chilly cemeteries, looming mansions! They make my spooky soul smile! 😱👻

2. I prefer books with female protagonists. There are so many books with male leads, it‘s refreshing when a female is the star. I‘ve tagged a book featuring one of my favorite sassy heroines!

TheSpineView Thanks for playing! 📚📚📚 1y
Branwen Yasssss gothic settings! 👏👏👏😱💖 They're the best! 1y

Dalinar glowered at Shallan.
“What?” she said.
“He was never like this before you arrived,” Dalinar said.
“Stormfather help us,” Shallan said lightly, sitting beside Adolin. “A Kholin has learned to relax once in a while? Surely the moons will stop orbiting and the sun will come crashing down.”

I‘d laugh, except I have an even harder time relaxing than the Kholins do! The above meme is an accurate depiction of me trying to clear my mind! 🙈

Chrissyreadit I can completely relate. 1y
Branwen I feel this! 😂🤣👍 1y
DaveGreen7777 @Chrissyreadit @Branwen I knew I wasn‘t the only one! 😂🤣 1y

Thank you for this #WondrousWednesday @Eggs and thank you for the tag @TheSpineView 😀

1. For the tagged book, I‘m going with “Ziggy Stardust”, since it involves humanity‘s savior traveling through space and spiders from another world! 🕷

2. I love figures based on book characters like Funko Pops.

3. It doesn‘t matter to me if characters are my age. I enjoy the Stormlight Archive series and some of those characters are hundreds of years old!

Eggs I love everything about this post❣️❣️ #3: that‘s me, 100 years old 🤯😳👵🏻 1y
RaeLovesToRead Yes to all of this!!!! I love my Ghüs figure with his little flocked pjs and I love the combo of Bowie and space spiders 😍 1y
DaveGreen7777 @Eggs Thank you, Sherri! 😊 1y
DaveGreen7777 @RaeLovesToRead Thank you, Rae! I almost got lazy and went with “Itsy Bitsy Spider”, but I decided to try to be a little more creative! 😁 1y
RaeLovesToRead @DaveGreen7777 nothing itsy bitsy about those spiddies 😂😂 I still need to read the sequel 1y

Thank you for this #Two4Tuesday @TheSpineView 😊

1. Elayne from the Wheel of Time series. The other characters sometimes write her off as haughty and assume she looks down on them because she‘s royalty, but she is really compassionate, and she is much kinder and more capable than they give her credit for.

2. Tagged! I wouldn‘t have minded the ending so much... except it was the same exact ending as one of his earlier books so it just felt lazy.

TheSpineView Elayne is a great choice. I liked her character a lot in the series. She is so underrated. Thanks for playing! 1y

I was tagged for #FiveFingerBookChallenge by the wonderful @RaeLovesToRead 😊

👍 Book you love: “Ill Wind” from the Weather Warden series. R.I.P. Rachel Caine! 😢
👆 Book you often recommend: “Good Omens”
🖕 Book you didn‘t like: “Hannibal”. So disappointing! 😒
💍 Character you‘d like to marry: Nynaeve from the Wheel of Time series!
🤞 Book you pinky promise to read soon: “Aleister Blake”. Just look at that gorgeous cover! 😍

Tagging @Branwen

Michael_Gee Oo fun! 1y

Thank you for this #Two4Tuesday @TheSpineView 😊

1. Iago from Othello. He is so detestable, ruining people‘s lives just because he can. Yet he is also so clever and Machiavellian, I find him fascinating to read about.

2. This is a toughie! Usually, I care more about the characters than the plot. Still there have been books where the plot was so good, I was fully invested even if the characters were a bit bland (“Children of Time” comes to mind).

TheSpineView I totally agree with you on Children of Time. Thanks for playing! 1y
Palimpsest Iago, nice choice! 1y
RaeLovesToRead Children of time has some great characters.... granted they are all spiders but still... haha 😂😂 1y

DaveGreen7777 @Palimpsest Thank you! 😊 1y
DaveGreen7777 @RaeLovesToRead HA HA! True, the spiders like Portia and Bianca were fun to read about. 😁 But the human characters in Children of Time had me like... 😴😴😴 1y
RaeLovesToRead Totally... Team Spider all the way!!! 😂😂 1y
