I‘m not sure which authors will become difficult to find after Brexit. Meanwhile, @Andrew65 is cracking me up re the possibility of Brexit actually happening!! 😂🤣😂 5y

Andrew65 @gradcat The country is in a total political mess, all out for themselves and not the best interests of the country. Whether you are in favour of Brexit or not a democratic vote went for it. Democracy in the U.K. is dead as the will of the people has not been actioned and not ever sure it will be. Can‘t see the point of ever voting again when democracy doesn‘t exist! @EadieB (edited) 5y

Andrew65 @EadieB Exactly! Some parties now talking about virtually annulling the rest and stopping Brexit. How can that be democracy! As I say doesn‘t matter whether for or against it, it was voted for! Very bad situation all round. I can see riots and civil disobedience ahead. 5y

Good thing is that I can order books to my friend‘s mother‘s address and he‘ll bring me the books four times a year. But, can‘t order 20 books there... 5y

Andrew65 @EadieB @Tove_Reads Well you have all been busy! Eadie is right the Group Read plus a few life issues personally and at work have limited my engagement recently with much of anything! I‘m happy to read some Nordic Mysteries. I‘ve wanted to read Jussi Alder-Olsen for some time. Read first two Camilla Lackberg books that I enjoyed. Also read first Nesbo book but didn‘t enjoy that as much but happy to give them another go. Not read any Lars Kepler👇 5y

Andrew65 Or Indridason (or even heard of him or her). I‘d also like to read the Magnus Iceland mystery series by Michael Ridpath. Read the first one and really enjoyed it, who thought a mystery set in Iceland would have a strong Lord of the Rings element! Karin Fossum? Yrsa Sigurðardóttir? I also enjoyed the first one in the Kari Vaara Series by James Thompson. Will have to check which of these authors I can get hold of. @EadieB @Tove_Reads (edited) 5y

EadieB @Tove_Reads My first Nesbo book was The Snowman as they were not translated in order. That one was very good. I think the first book The Bat which @Andrew read was not the best as it is the first in the series. 5y

gradcat @EadieB I used to read so much & so fast...and I always wanted to read my favorite genre, detective novels, yet I only wanted to read the ones set in other countries...that‘s why I‘ve read so many of those. I‘m a much slower reader these days...so old!! Ha ha! No seriously, I just can‘t read as fast as I used to, but that‘s okay...I really take in more detail now. 5y

Andrew65 @gradcat I tend to read about 40 - 50 pages an hour depends on book. With work commitments limited reading time, so possibly read a bit faster. My wife who is older than me and doesn‘t work Reads at a much steadier rate (just like Eadie) but picks up so much more. @EadieB is a total reading machine. 🙌🙌🙌😱 She does Read at a steady pace but always amazed the amount of hours she can read each day. 5y

Andrew65 @gradcat When off work and recovered from tiredness I can read anywhere between 7 and 10 hours if nothing else happening and tend to read between about 400 and 500 pages. According to my app, up to midnight last night (13th) I had read 3654 pages this month but been a particularly difficult month. Keep hoping my luck will turn around. @EadieB During #24B4Monday Readathon tend to fit in around 24 - 26 hours. 5y

Right now I've been caught up with Camilleris books, I'm actually making an order for number 18to 24 since my audiobooks stopped at 17. @Tove_Reads of course I'm going to recommend Donna Leon's Brunetti series, and Martin Walkers Bruno chief of police series. Tove_Reads @Crazeedi I tend to order 20 books at a time from GB. If there is a no deal between GB and EU it‘s impossible to say when things get fixed and what‘s going to happen. Now it‘s internal market so no extra taxes, customs etc. 5y

Crazeedi @Andrew65 I am in love with Camilleri, I'm ordering the rest of the series, and I am going to pay for a subscription to watch the Italian series. I found it online through a service, its subtitled but looks good. And I read they follow the books well. Also the director was friends with Camilleri! 5y

One of the clinics I go to has a “getting to know you” sheet on all the staff hanging up in the break room which has people list their favorites in different categories. Something tells me this person & I don‘t have a lot in common. Also, out of 13 people only one had reading as a hobby 😕

Sooo I think it‘s safe to say I have a problem LOL @MicrobeMom told me about this awesome thrift store about 15 minutes from my house and they had sooooooo many books it was insane! I got all of these for $26 dollars!!! Crazy right?? If you live near the Philadelphia area definitely check of Heavens Treasures thrift store! See any good ones you have read in the pile?

Finally had a chance to open my #easterbookswap from @TheBookHippie and am soooooooo psyched!!! I LOVE the bag- I‘ve been eyeing it for awhile. 😊 I don‘t even know where to begin with the books! I want to lock myself away and devour them!! And my kids are very excited about the Bunny book and have gotten very in to graphic novels- can‘t wait to introduce them to Anne Shirley that way. Tomorrow I will be hosting a Mystery Book Exchange. Each person is bringing a gently used book, wrapped in plain paper with clues on the outside. We'll choose numbers. The 1st person picks a book from the table. Person #2 can "steal" person #1's book or pick a different book & so on until everyone has a new book. Then we'll open & reveal our new choice. There will also be a magazine exchange table. These are some decorations. Wish me luck! ☺️
