I'm at the Falkirk chapter, in the little kirk on the hill, and I just had to stop and take a break. There are people around, and there's no way I can read without turning into a sobbing puddle of jelly. 😥😭 I keep telling myself the characters aren't real, but it's no use. The writing is just that good. ❤️💔 #outlander #reread #evenbetterthethirdtime

sprainedbrain Oh now I‘m crying. 😭 4h
LittlePixels @sprainedbrain Right?? I've been avoiding it all night, because I know what's coming. I'm going to wait until I'm alone, so I can sob in peace. 😭 1h

Re-reading this for the fourth or fifth time. ? I have my "read while eating and don't care if I get food on the pages" copy and my beloved signed version, for reading with clean hands only. ? #outlander #favoriteauthors #reread

AileenRR Love that you have “eating copies” 😊 2w
LittlePixels @AileenRR Unless you count ebooks, I only have extra copies of this one and MOBY (got that one free from a library reading program). Hubby bought me signed copies of the entire series for Mother's Day a couple years ago. There's a photo of it somewhere in my post history. I have an amazing hubby. ❤️❤️❤️ 2w
StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego I have double copies of this series as well! One to look pretty & one to carry around willy nilly. 😆 2w
LittlePixels @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego Yes, exactly! And the fact that I own most of the series in three different formats (you haven't lived until you've heard Davina Porter narrate Outlander ❤️) isn't crazy at all....right? 😒😂 2w

Oh. My. Gosh. I just read this book in two sittings! From the cover blurb it sounded just ok, so after buying it on release day (Blake Crouch is an insta-buy) I set it aside until I felt ready to tackle it. Then I couldn't put it down! I've enjoyed Blake Crouch books since the beginning, but the past two books have really blown me away!

Please let the phrase "doodle containment" become a thing! ??? Between the continued use of "doodle" and the way they "perform sexual intercourse", this is pretty much the least erotic sex scene I've ever read! Absolutely loving the book so far, but come on...Neal Stephenson couldn't come up with anything better than "perform sexual intercourse"?? ?

Lincoln in the Bardo | George Saunders

I just read this entire thing in bed tonight, while trying not to wake hubby with my "damn, that thing is bright as the sun!" book light. It was a fast read, but not really my thing. The Lincoln parts were interesting, but the nattering spirits, despite the unique format, were dull dull dull. It was like "The Breakfast Club" for dead people. And I didn't like "The Breakfast Club". ? #unpopularopinion

Tamra I loved the audio version - the voice acting is excellent! 2mo

So disappointing. The intriguing premise and post-apocalyptic backdrop turned out to be completely irrelevant. If I'd have known this was just a murder mystery/coming-of-age novel, I'd have passed.

I finished this about 60 seconds ago, and I'm still choked up from that last line. This one had #allthefeels - and what a ride it was. The author brought the characters and the band so vividly to life that I kept wishing I could hear the songs they were talking about, or pull up a YouTube video of a concert appearance. This one deserves all the stars. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

JillR I really enjoyed this one too...I highly recommend the tagged book if you enjoyed this; there‘s an album recorded to go with the book 💛 (edited) 2mo

There are many good aspects of our culture being more accepting of "neurodiversity", but as the mom of special needs kids, one with autism, I'm going to have a very unpopular opinion here. Books like this piss me off. I guess more specifically they make me sad, and feel like I'm not seen. My kid's autism isn't good, or cute, or fun. Talking about Daryl Hannah or Jerry Seinfeld being autistic...really? (Continued in comments...)

LittlePixels In my world, being autistic doesn't look like a successful actor, or even someone who can ever live independently. It looks like screaming fits, speech difficulties, sign language, anxiety, aggressive outbursts against family members...did I mention the screaming? So much screaming. It isn't charming, and it isn't good for siblings to have to deal with. Yes, there are good moments, and yes we all love each other. 3mo
LittlePixels But whitewashing the bad aspects invalidates those of us who deal with the downside of autism on a daily basis. :( 3mo

LittlePixels @tamra I put it off for a long time. I wanted to screen it for my kiddo, but being a children's book I didn't have a lot of interest, despite loving it when I was little. I'm not sure why, but after following this seemingly forever on Inkshares, and really looking forward to reading it, I had trouble making myself actually do it. The story was interesting enough, very timely, and thought-provoking. For whatever reason, it didn't hook me, but in this case I think it was me, not the book. I'm still giving it a pick.

Pickpick

4.5 stars, only because of was a bit hard to get into. It took me 4-5x of starting and putting it down over the past year before I finally got into it, but then (even after over a thousand pages) I didn't want it to end! Have you ever read a book where the world was so vividly described that years later you forget if you saw the movie or read the book? Kingsbridge was so masterfully realized that I have a feeling this will be one of those gems.

I *want* to love this book. It appears to have all the things: technology, time travel, ancient Rome, Titanic! In actually reading it, I'm less than impressed. There's almost no ancient Rome (so far), not much to do with the Titanic, no actual technology beyond "hey, we have a time machine, and it works...somehow..." ? Add in the contrived curse words/phrases, and I'm getting a headache from all the eye rolling. #disappointed

StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego Was the highlighted bit meant to be a curse/swear? 😬 I hope it gets better for you. 9mo
LittlePixels @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego Yes! And they use "hashing" or "hashed" as a curse - constantly - as one would use the F word. Like "You really hashed that one up!" ? And here's a direct quote of one of the more flowery ones... "Hade's clangers in a hashing bluebox". Ughhhhhhh! 9mo

I was this close to two of my favorite authors. I can die happy now. 😍 ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ P S. - Diana said she already knows what will come after the Outlander series, and hinted that she's already started writing it. (!!) If you know how she writes, a) this isn't a surprise, because she writes in bits and pieces and b) you know you still won't see anything for many years. Cool to know she's got something, though!

julesG This means I still have time to catch up on Outlander and John Grey? Good! 9mo
