Love That Dog | Sharon Creech

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cry-cry-crying. I read this on the recommendation of both of my boys. Super cute and clever, but so dang sad.

11 year old: Mom, come here. Is this grammatically correct?

Me: Oh yeah, that‘s the past tense of shit.

11 year old: *dies laughing*

CBee My 11 year old is very concerned with swear words, so I would‘ve said to him, it‘s the past tense of the “s” word 😂😂😂 3mo

Impulse buy ("for my kid") at the butterfly conservatory gift shop this weekend. ?

Me to my husband on the way home: I was such a sucker for books like this as a kid! ...Er, and obviously still am, since I bought this like two seconds after I saw it...

Reading the tagged, but my visit with Michael meant I haven't read much today. It's okay though because for the first time, he fell asleep while I was holding him! His momma says that so far, that's never happened. She has always had to hold him to get him to sleep. I felt like the chosen one! Here he is, asleep on me. #Grandson #RaisingReaders

Six years ago TO THE DAY. Exact same circumstances. School has been canceled all week for snow, but the roads are clear enough around us, the library was able to reopen today. Had to recreate the photo!

2 nights ago we hit 3,000 books 🙂 The other day Wes said, “books make you happy mama.” “Sure do buddy.” “Books make me happy too mama.” #RaisingReaders #1000booksbeforekindergarten

He was too busy “reading” to take a picture 😂

My precious, very tall, 9 year old read 40-50 this year! He prefers reading before falling asleep, and loves rereading favorites, so I can‘t keep track. 😂 But he‘s awesome. Proud of him!

lynneamch I always enjoy seeing your boys' reading adventures. My younger grandkids are also 9 & 11 and big readers. Both have gotten in a little trouble at school for reading when they're supposed to be doing something else. Ok by me. 😉 5mo

Here‘s Wes putting his stocking on in prep for St Nick tonight 😂 But what I came here to say is we I forgot to read tonight‘s Santa letter and he made sure we didn‘t go to bed without it being read 😂 #raisingreaders #lotrchapteraday #fellowshipoftolkien

Discworld 04 - Mort | Pratchett, Terry
post image

My Youngest is reading his first Pratchett, and is about halfway through. He says he's not sure if he likes the character Mort, and the book doesn't seem to have much plot, but the jokes are VERY funny. So I'm wondering where to point him to next. It's been a while since I read most of the #Discworld books. The ones about the Watch are my faves, and I seem to remember them having decent plots. 🤔 Any other suggestions?

Balibee146 Actually Reaper Man, as it puts Death front and centre, might be good? Feet of Clay has a good plot and the Golem might grab his attention. Not the first Guards book but don't think that will matter too much. Or maybe some of the books aimed at younger readers as they are fab... Maurice or the Tiffnay Aching series starting with Wee Free Men? 7mo
julesG Reaper Man was my first thought, too. Witches Abroad was my first Pratchett - I was about the same age your youngest is now. 7mo
Leniverse @Balibee146 @julesG I'll ask him how he likes Death. The Witches are more fun if you've read Macbeth, at least the first witches book. We tried Maurice when he was in the target age for that, but he noped out at animal death on the first page. (He's less sensitive now.) Wee Free Men I think would appeal to him! 7mo
