Sorry to my #SundayBuddyRead for being radio-silent on the discussion today. I finished but I‘ve been Hurricane Douglas distracted😱& just didn‘t have it in me. Still a Hurricane & although The Big Island & Maui fared OK, the rest of us aren‘t out of danger yet. And if hurricanes & high COVID-19 counts for the state weren‘t enough my personal laptop shut down & won‘t come back on. Not my favorite day for sure! Think good thoughts for us.🤞🏼🙏🏼

Hurricane Dorian made a landfall right on us here in NC Luckily we did not have any damage like we did last year from Florence. However the tornado made landfall on Emerald Isle NC and destroyed the water park and RV Park.

I am so ready for the hurricane to just go away. I‘ve got books, a fully charged kindle, snacks, candles and flashlights everywhere and my parents at my house until it‘s all over. My dad says waiting on a hurricane is like being stalked by a turtle and if that image doesn‘t make you laugh I don‘t know what will! #besafe #hurryandgoaway

Guys we are still struggling with the aftermath of our hurricane in October. Look at my daughter‘s bedroom wall. This has definitely been a tough year for my family. I haven‘t been able to read and now I feel like I am in a reading slump. Can anyone suggest a can‘t put down book that will take your mind off things? Just no@gory stuff

Y‘all. These are my people. I‘m so heartbroken. I have friends that have lost everything. Two of my hospitals that I work with are closed and patients have been evacuated. My little slice of heaven, these beautiful beaches and many of my friends will be without power and water for a long time. I‘ve been on the phone all day and now I just need to read and escape. This is why I love reading so much 🙏❤️

Hurricane Flo was supposed to be the big one for our area, and it barely impacted us.

Michael, otoh, swept in unawares and wreaked havoc. We were very lucky...this is my neighbor‘s house, and there are a ton of trees and street signs/lamps down in our neighborhood.

All is good in our home, but more than 30 schools in the district are without power tonight, so no school tomorrow.

So.... I live in the path of this storm and my entire team at work lives in Florida. Need lots of prayers today🙏

End of Day 3 of #hurricaneflorence and I haven't had a chance to read more than a couple pages. I went to my sister's house as she has a generator and few trees compared to me. Spent time with my nieces doing crafts, baking cookies, having an impromptu photo shoot. At night, my sister and I had a glass of wine we bought on our prep day. Painted my youngest niece's letters (did my older one's when she was born). Now I may be able to relax and read.

In all seriousness, hoping and praying all our Littens in the path of #Florence stay safe.

1. Silas House at the Bookmarks festival last weekend;
2. Shrimp and grits;
3. Riding out Florence, with a house full of evacuees from further east than us;
4. Can‘t name just 1! Austen, Atwood, Doig, Smiley, Shakespeare. . .

Welp looks like we are getting hit directly with a category 4 or weak 5 hurricane early Thursday morning through Saturday. I downloaded several ebooks and have several hard covers so we should be okay

Hi Everyone! If you was wondering where I have been well my family and I evacuate two days before the Hurricane Irma at 5:00am. My bother-in-law had my phone cause he wanted to stay back and so we can get hold of him. We went to NC and SC. So instead of being in a hurricane I pack a 3 store house. Also, we all doing great and are safe.We also got extra supplies for the next hurricane coming.However, Abigail did get sick for the climate change.🙁❤️

Hi guys. I'll be silent for a while thanks to #Irma my family and I are safe, but without power, all the trees missed our house, but apparently hit every power line. Considering how others fared, I'm lucky. Yes, this is my tree.

A bit of context: "Nkandla" is the private homestead that our president built for himself and his family, using R246 MILLION (South African rand) of tax-payers' money. Needless to say, South Africans are still a little pissed ?

I haven't been able to pick up a book in 2 days. We are supposed to fly to FL to visit family and take M to HP Wizarding World at Universal for the first time. Now some of the family in South Florida is getting ready to evacuate.

Our trip is looking incredibly unlikely. 😣

Airline has not issued any alerts for Orlando yet, so we are in complete limbo and stand to lose a chunk of money unless our Sat flight is cancelled.

Preparing myself for Hurricane Irma. All my windows are crystal and the building does not have protection. Unfortunately I have to work during the hurricane😢I don't know when I can return to my home! This is the best way I can protect my books😱I don't know how my apt will be when I can come back😔This is a dangerous hurricane, category 5! I'm still doing things to protect my home but what is imp is to protect lives!

We have family in St. Barths (🔹) and St. Thomas (USVI). They're preparing for Irma which is now Cat 4.
If you're in Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands or that area, please be safe.

Harvey hovered near SA late today and downed a big tree branch in our backyard and somehow knocked out our AC (our trusty AC guy got it back going). Lots and lots of wind and rain and otherwise all is well here. Waiting word from the rest of my family in Austin area and Fayette County but hoping worst is over. Thank you Litsy friends for staying with me through this!

Pouring down rain and no power in my corner of Houston ☹️Trying to read but too worried about how bad it's going to get 😱

San Antonio is soggy with waves of heavy rain but doing much better than anticipated. We're under flooding watch through Tuesday but it appears our eastern neighbors are getting hammered.

I am not normally an anxious person but my anxiety level is creeping up as the wind whips outside my windows. I had a deep childhood fear of tornadoes (one picked up my grandfather as a boy and carried him some distance and he was terrorized every time the wind picked up: he passed the fear on to me) and I can feel that fear just below the surface. I have to admit I'm staying close to my Litsy friends tonight for comfort.

Here's the 9:30 CST hurricane advisory from the storm tracker the electricity companies on the coast use. I know a lot of people who are emergency personnel remaining on the coast. I can only imagine what they are experiencing now. Winds are picking up here as we await the storms to arrive here in San Antonio tonight.

I'm exhausted from worry about my daughter and grandson. They live in Corpus Christie and are not evacuating.

Texas needs your prayers. Hurricane preparedness reports area of landfall (red above) will suffer greatly. "Severe flooding is expected over a large area, including along major rivers. Significant flood damage may occur, along with long-lasting travel delays. Near where landfall occurs, widespread power outages lasting for days or weeks are possible, along with severe structural damage. Coastal structures will likely be destroyed by the surge."

It's been a while since I've read Cherry Adair and I was a bit underwhelmed with this one.
