My god, is this book filled with wonderful, thoughtful advice that is just so beautifully written! Strayed is able to connect on a personal level with every letter writer to her Dear Sugar column. My mother wouldn‘t like the language or Strayed‘s tendency to use the f word when talking about sex - it‘s not a book you can put in just anyone‘s hands. But I would def recommend it!

Truth be told, I finished this book several days ago and I‘m still not sure how I feel about it. I raced through it, at first because I was loving the story and curious to see how these children would survive their horrible circumstances, if they would survive. Then it got creepy and uncomfortable and I almost had to give up on it. Id recommend it, but only for those who can overlook some things that made this Mom squeamish.

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I totally agree with your review... I probably won‘t read anything else by this author... 1mo
Megabooks I did find the underage girl/adult man who raised her romance vibe creepy! @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Her most recent isn‘t creepy with the “is it pedophilia” vibe but she does introduce neuroatypical characters in a sort of Matthew Quick way. (If you‘ve read The Good Luck of Right Now and/or The Silver Linings Playbook.) however, I did like Bryn‘s latest 1mo
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Megabooks I‘ve got The Silver Linings Playbook, but haven‘t read it yet! (edited) 1mo

Guys, I‘ve been reading so much that I have hardly been able to keep up with reviews for my blog. So much nonfiction the last few weeks. Hoping to finish this one in the next couple of day. Now I‘m going to have to find the Dear Sugar podcast.

Megabooks This is one of my favorites! 1mo
Mamashep @Megabooks her answers are so thoughtful and compassionate. I‘m loving it. Checked it out from the library but thinking I need a physical copy to have on hand as a kind of reference book. 1mo

Kaling is never not funny so I wasn‘t surprised to have enjoyed this book. It‘s a bit uneven, as are most collections, but when it is good it is poignant, honest, and very, very funny.

There‘s a lot of religion going on in this one, which I hadn‘t expected. But if a belief in the calling of a higher being and in prayer is what it took to convince Cathy Parker that she could get an artificial football field installed in one of the most remote places in this country, then hallelujah! What an enormous undertaking!

I am genuinely sad to be finished with this book. I‘m a huge fan of the Obamas so I was happy to “get to know” them better, to learn about their backgrounds, how they met, how they survived politics. Loved getting the inside stories. She reads the book with warmth and emotion. I feel like we are friends now. Highly recommend this book!

Megabooks I‘ve been meaning to read this too. 7mo
Mamashep @Megabooks I got about half@way thru and it totally changed gears. I‘m not as wild about the second part. Should finish it tomorrow and we‘ll see if they tie together some how or if that‘s the point of the title. 7mo
