#unpopularopinion At first I‘m thinking: Wow, the writing is beautiful... but then the stories are all over the place; I‘m getting into a particular story and it switches to another one; the writing, as I said is beautiful, but then just becomes too much for me. I‘m bailing after a quarter of the way in. (Thank goodness for Libby)

I loved this! Hattie is sassy, Beast is... Beast (there‘s something about a bad boy 😉). I laughed, gasped, and I got teary-eyed. Now to wait for the next book in the series... sigh. #yearofhattie

I recently made a Bookstagram account, and I‘m not trying to knock it, but gosh, it seems like so much more pressure than Litsy! Maybe I take things too personally but it‘s like if you post a not-so-good pic, bye bye followers. Litsy is much more accepting; its easier to see reviews; and I think I‘m going to try harder to be more involved with Litsy, as opposed to the Bookstagram community. You guys rock! (Feeling super sensitive today 😔)

Andrew65 That sounds awful! Yes got to love the community feel and the positive upbeat feel of the Litsy environment. 😊🥳 3w
Megabooks I like looking at other people‘s bookstagrams, but I agree that it‘s too much pressure. You‘re always welcome here!! 3w
britt_brooke I had a Bookstagram account for a few months and it‘s just way too much of a popularity contest; more about what you can give people or talking to the camera in “stories” than actual reviews. And the algorithms are obnoxious. Deleting my account was liberating! 😆 Litsy is my place. Littens are my people. 💚 3w
See All 7 Comments
Mowen036 @britt_brooke I feel the same! Too much of a popularity contest and they can be rather clickish too. 3w
britt_brooke @Mowen036 Yes, very much so. Really not my scene. Litsy is much more laid back and friendly. 3w
Tera0707 @Megabooks thank you! I definitely feel more welcome here! Just like @britt_brooke and @Mowen036 said, it‘s a popularity contest and so clique-ish. People add you to gain you as a follower, then delete you. I do like the pictures they post, but I really like the “real” pics on Litsy. If that makes sense. Thanks everybody! I feel better ☺️ 3w
britt_brooke @Tera0707 I like the “real” photos on Litsy, too. So many on Bookstagram are staged or themed, and while some are lovely, many feel pretentious. 3w

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 it‘s not a bad book by any means. It‘s beautifully written, but I guess I was hoping for more. I am still giving it a Pick though because there were a couple times I couldn‘t wait to pick it back up to see what was going to happen. Jojo‘s mama in the story... sheesh, I wanted to smack some sense into her. The ghosts were kind of killing it for me, but I think I get it? Anyway, three and a half stars from me.

🥟🥟🥟🥟 These cozy mysteries are cute. This is the second in the series and I enjoyed it more than the first. My only complaint is the chemistry between two of the characters isn‘t really there. I‘m not feeling them much.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I liked the three POVs, and though I had a feeling about the ending, it still had me sitting on the edge of my seat. Literally. The only downfall was some of the repetitiveness, especially from the dad and mom‘s POVs (what would they do to save their daughter was a big one).

One of these days, I hope to figure out this whole Litsy-cropping-of-the-pictures thing. Anyway, I came home from NOLA with my #botm box waiting for me. So stoked to read these. The gnome is a birthday gift from my in-laws. It‘s solar power and I will put him out front once we get our yard finished ☺️

jchawkins Yeah it really bugs me that my phone naturally takes rectangular pictures and Litsy wants them to be square (Instagram, too, for that matter). I always have to remind myself to back up or else I end up with over-cropped pictures. 🙄 1mo

I don‘t buy used books, but I had to get out of the hustle and bustle of the streets of NOLA and visit Beckham‘s Bookshop. These two elderly gentlemen (one presumably was Mr. Beckham) were restoring some old books and it was neat watching them. They did have a small section of new books featuring Louisiana in them. So my husband bought me one for my birthday 😁

Eyelit Oh yeah, I wondered if that was the one you were talking about. When I visited last year the lone clerk was basically uninterested in helping me find a local author book and I remember the whole place being underwhelming. I did like Octavia Books, though, if you haven‘t been yet. 1mo
Tera0707 @Eyelit that‘s how I felt about the booksellers- they didn‘t even greet us when we came in. Ooooo I‘ll have to check out Octavia Books. Thank you! 1mo
Eyelit You‘re welcome. Enjoy your visit! (Also, there‘s a fantastic bakery called breads on oak, it‘s a bit of a trek - but so worth it) 1mo
everlocalwest I seconded @Eyelit Octavia is my favorite bookshop for new books in NOLA. And if you go to Breads (worth it) my favorite bookshop in the city is very close, Blue Cypress. It's mostly used with some new but super fun to browse, the nicest booksellers, and a bookstore cat! 😺 1mo

I usually like Kennedy Fox books, and this one was alright, but I felt like it was very repetitive. A lot of filler that was basically the same thing said over and over. It does end with a cliffhanger and I already have the second book (I got it before I started this one) so I am curious to see how the rest of their story unfolds. 📷:Pinterest

It started off beautifully and her writing is lovely, but I‘m just not in the mood for this. I have family from all over the country here at my house (for my daughter‘s graduation. Woot!), so I‘ve literally read only 65 pages in 6 days... is it weird that I feel guilty for putting it aside for now? I do want to finish it at some point. Just not right now.

marleed Sometimes a memoir requires you to be still and walk in their shoes. Hopefully, you‘ll enjoy it when things slow down. I had to move through grief a bit too young so I‘m always interested in how others traverse that crooked path. 3mo
