Bklover I‘ve done the opposite! Tape on an actual book page thinking the page will turn, as well as tapping a word expecting the definition to pop up. 😬🙃 8mo

Susanita Actually, you don‘t have to don‘t do anything different. This too shall pass. But if you want to jump start the process, you could reread an old favorite to help you get back in the swing of things. 2y
WanderingBookaneer Picture books, graphic novels, audiobooks (I recommend memoirs read by the author because it feels like having dinner with someone interesting and listening to their stories.) 2y
KathyWheeler Audiobooks and/or light books with short chapters have always helped me. Robert Parker‘s Spenser novels worked for me — books like that. 2y
Reggie I think for me this past year, it has been short stories and novellas that have helped me through slumps. 2y

I‘m a fan of short stories and a kind reader as part of #bookswap subscribed me to receive this beautiful gift every month! Anyone here for #One story? Have you read this? I would love to read your review as I was disappointed with this story. There are times I don‘t few books but feel guilty of sharing/writing bad reviews (even though I did one for January as I want to share what I actually thought of the book). Do you share mixed reviews?

This morning as I was posting my book to another reader, and placing hold on few books I like to read. I mainly use my library, and book swaps, and may be rarely purchase books (partly my house is filled with so many unread books...) and I can‘t possibly add any further. I would love to know..how do you get your books? #question

Butterfinger At least 2-3 times a week, I am at the library. 3y
RinaBrahmbhattBarot @Butterfinger we only have curbside pick up! Where are you? 3y
emmaturi Yes quite often I go and out around 3 books. I have many of my own so try not to go to crazy 3y
See All 10 Comments
Butterfinger We only have curbside pick up too. I order my books online and then knock at the door to let them know I'm here. 3y
Butterfinger I'm in Marion, NC. 3y
SassyBookworm I use my library‘s Libby app! I‘m a huge ebook reader and I can always suggest new book if they don‘t have one I‘d like to read. I‘ve found it saves a ton of space and money! 3y
LibrarianRyan I buy a lot of mine. And I work in a library. I boy books that I know libraries could use and then donate them when I am done. Mostly YA, MG, and manga. I leave audiobooks and a lot of graphic novels, picture books, and almost all adult (except sci0fi) to the library. Libraries around here are so strapped, that they buy what goes out, and that is usually not what I read. 3y
LazyOwl I'm consciously trying to buy books only if I think I'll read again, or someone in the household will read. Otherwise I borrow library books, both print and ebook. 3y
iread2much I love to buy books I am really excited about and think I will reread. I generally use the library in the city in (during normal times) for their kindle ebooks only. I don‘t use my library very often anymore, but I always make sure to vote yes for more library funding! 3y
MyNamesParadise I try to use the library as much as I can. However, there are certain authors that I love and will get their new books when they come out (even in hardcover, although I prefer paperback. If it‘s a new writer or I feel I can wait for the story, I get it from the library. Sometimes I‘m just in the mood to buy something and so I buy books! I own so many books though that‘s it‘s tricky! 3y

Review: 💗💗💗
I love her writing and the American village/town lifestyle. I fell in love with her when I read 'My Name Is Lucy Barton'. It's such a simple story about a minster 'Tyler' in a small town in New England. It is about his life as a pastor, town people, kids, and widowed life. It is one of those books where you can get lost and time flies by, I did not want the book to end (but it did), and it was a little disappointing...

My take: Nora, such a beautiful character, yet there was an element of 'seriously' moments! So many lives, and emotions and at times, it feels like a philosophical pondering between you and the author. The narrative is straightforward and engaging, and I would love to visit 'Bedford' someday! I listened to this book, so listening to a sharp, crisp, and clear British accent was a bonus (something I very much enjoyed).

Review: 💗. Therapy session between a psychotherapist and a Christie. While I admire her courage to be vulnerable and share such intimate details of her life. This book became just about her (maybe rightly so, however, the title can be misleading). It dragged on, and I lost interest! She is a great writer, and her description of Chicago left me mesmerized about the city life (but it wasn't enough that I could carry on). Excellent writing, but

To cure this...what do you do?

1. Pick up a book and nap with a book 😀

2. Headset, audio book and to for a walk

3. Hit the gym

My preferred option is 2, but at times 1 is more comfortable 🙂

After a busy weekend, finally time to put my feet up and wander off to another journey! I‘ve had this book in my #TBR forever..(like years) and finally picking this up! It‘s a book you can dip in and out from! He‘s a brilliant author, I loved his work about Proust (fascinating read). What are you reading this evening?

RinaBrahmbhattBarot @megnews hey! Looks like a great book (despite not so great review) is it based in NYC? 3y
megnews It is which was one reason I was drawn to it. Some of the reviews I read didn‘t care for the dual timeline. I like that sort of thing although I agree with one reviewer-I usually end up liking the historical one best. It is interesting to see the struggles women in the workplace faced both in 1949 and today. 3y

I‘ve read and heard raving review of this book, currently listening but am so close to abandoning..anyone read this? Thoughts?

Lillie I bailed too. Tried it and set it aside to pick up when I was in the mood to revisit it. That was five years ago 🤷🏻‍♀️ 4y
Kimzey It is one of my all-time favorites, but I read it more than 30 years ago. I should revisit to see if it holds up. 4y
LibrarianRyan Former staff men ever read it when it first came out. Loved it. 20 years later she rereads it for book club and couldn‘t figure out why she loved it in her younger years. 4y

Addison_Reads Ugh...this book is like my evil nemesis. I've tried 3 different times and it is still the only book that I can claim I DNF. I just couldn't get into it, and I had no desire to see what happened in the end. 4y
iread2much I have tried a dozen times and I can‘t get into it :( 4y
AlRah It is one of my favourites..I have read it twice...thougj I found it hard to finish it the first time..the moment I finished the book, I knew it was the best book I read in ages...each character..each scene leaves a mark 4y

Have I told you about this one? I do love self-help books, by now I‘ve read over 200+ books..but this one stands out! It resonates with me. It taught me to just put my head down and get on with (whatever) task I‘m working on. It was a major help, when I need all the focus I could muster to finish my masters thesis.

Are you too distracted? I‘m hyper, and at any one time..working on multiple things (even when it comes to reading).
